Something a former member of our team said to me recently
Brand J replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have never stepped foot in the city of Buffalo, nor do I have any affiliations with WNY. But I am - and always will be - a Bills fan 'til I die! GO BUFFALO!!! -
Draft Order Now highest is #4, lowest is #10
Brand J replied to djp14150's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Should pull what Indy did and start a "Curtis Painter" at QB for the finale. Our equivalent is Thigpen. IIRC, the Colts beat Houston the week before, with Dan Orlovsky at QB and the next week, started Curtis Painter to ensure they'd be in line to draft Luck #1. They obviously knew a win in the finale was counterproductive to the franchise's longevity. Gailey isn't that smart. -
Haha, I thought that's exactly who she ran like! A pint sized player, who's clearly the fastest on the field. Too bad she's a girl. If she was a boy, with those attributes and talent, she'd be on the path to stardom after a puberty charged injection of testosterone. She'll probably be a lacrosse, or track star.

Amazing. A compliment in this case: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/internet-sensation--nine-year-old-girl-shredding-defenses-to-the-tune-of-25-touchdowns.html

Surprised no one is talking about this. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-2/Gilmore-wanted-Fitzgerald-matchup/9459092e-4c56-45ad-a9ca-c772f47149a3 After a shaky opener, he's been much more sound in coverage. Gotta love the confidence from the rook!

Losman had a GREAT deep ball, but had trouble throwing WRs open with passes in the 10-25 yard range. Interesting that the current crop of WRs are getting open, wide open, but lack a QB who can get them the ball. Would Losman "flourish"? I doubt it. Not the current one anyway, but something tells me the offense would be better if a young Losman was in the system - the one who was full of confidence and thought he had a promising NFL career ahead of him.

Guys. He's nursing sore ribs. That's why he's been so terrible. If not that, then it's all David Lee's fault for tweaking his mechanics. All of this reminds me of the reason Trent Edwards had a terrible career: the Adrian Wilson hit. [/sarcasm]

Who will be the Bills QB next year
Brand J replied to THE GASH STATION's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless we get Geno Smith, draft a QB with the first three picks. I'm being somewhat serious here. -
As would I. As would Chan Gailey. But here's the problem: we don't play the Chiefs and Browns every week. What happens when a good team squats on the short stuff? When they're not worried about the length of the field, but rather the width? When we so desperately need a TD, but rather than hold onto the ball a tad bit longer, waiting for that bigger play, Fitzpatrick "settles" for the 5 yard in. The statistic above was jarring, not because Fitzpatrick has been terribly ineffective, but because the offense could be so much more effective. Anyone arguing against that statistic and available opportunities, doesn't truly understand what it takes to have a successful football team. We beat the Patriots last year because Fitzpatrick DID look down the field. He took advantage of available opportunities. He has an even better line this year, but so far, the numbers prove he has no interest in what transpires 20 yards down the field. In order for the offense to take the next step and beat those better defenses, he has to start looking down the field.
-
How do you win games, genius?? If your answer is, "score more points than the opponent," then I have NO IDEA how you can argue passing up TD passes equates to "stats for fantasy fan boys." Some of you people are incredibly short sighted.
-
What an idiotic statement. The goal is to score touchdowns, TYTT, if better opportunities are available, but are being passed up, then that IS a problem. I don't have trust in our QB to methodically drive down the field possession after possession. Big plays are a premium in the NFL, no matter what those rosy colored glasses tell you.
-
With the time and protection he has received behind this OL?! Man, that stat is god awful. Wake up Fitzpatrick! You have more time to throw than you realize! From Buscaglia:

That's right, Carolina. Run your only burgeoning star right outta town... http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/20375616/charlotte-observer-thinks-cam-newton-is-more-hello-kitty-than-superman

Not "focusing" on how to replace Fitzpatrick, Captain. That's an exercise in futility, seeing as how it'd be impossible to do during the season. I brought up a mentality regarding the QB position that needs to change around here. We shouldn't be content with asking our QB, "just don't lose the game." We should want Fitzpatrick to make plays to win the game! You're right in that plenty of caretaking QBs have gone to the playoffs, but there's one distinction... Not many have won the Superbowl.
-
They call these "knee-jerk" reactions. Those fans are willing to throw away a promising rookie year, because Cam had a lackluster performance in the home opener. Give me a break. Some fans lack patience, but some fans are absolutely ridiculous. When people around here were calling for Fitzpatrick's head last week, it wasn't because of the "what have you done for me lately" question, it was because he has stunk for the last 10 games or so. Ask those same people if they'd rather have Fitzpatrick at QB and they'd probably laugh at you. And this is the mentality we have to get away from around here. Outside of the beginning of last season, Fitzpatrick hasn't done jack squat to be the difference in winning games. If we're asking him, "just don't do anything to lose this game," then we have the wrong man under center. A QB needs to be a playmaker, to be able to make those plays in the clutch, to lead his team to victory. I don't want a caretaker at the position, I want a playmaker. Cam Newton, although he has a lot of maturing to do, is a playmaker.
-
Newton has already exceeded our QB. No question. Interesting you'd rather have Fitzpatrick than a young gun with a ceiling higher than the sky. You're in the clear minority here. I think Cam is a better pocket passer than Vince ever was. I also think he looks to run less.
-
Sarcasm doesn't come across well on the internet, KO Steve Smith is entitled to say whatever he wants, when it comes to trying to get Cam to display more leadership attributes. They have a good one calling plays over there, so when there's whining, to me it equates to Yankee fans whining about the potential devastation of not winning their 28th championship. Let's trade them QBs and then we'll see what type of whining transpires.
-
Thanks, Captain Obvious. I'll make sure to go to GM school before suggesting such trade proposals. Tell me this: if a deal like that was available (which it would never be of course), you're telling me you'd pass it up? I'd call you stupid GM.
-
I'll offer Fitzpatrick, a 2012 1st, a 2012 3rd, and a 2013 2nd to take this "problem" off of their hands [Copy of entire article removed. See terms of service.] http://sports.yahoo....25405--nfl.html

As good as the replacement refs were in Week 1
Brand J replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clock only stops when players run out of bounds in certain situations. I'm too lazy to look it up, but I think it's the last 2 mins of the first half and the last five minutes of the second half. -
Kelsay crashes down A LOT on bootlegs, so when the fake handoff is made and the QB rolls out, he's often trying to recover, giving chase. Since he's not the fleetest of foot, he rarely (if ever) reaches the QB before the pass is thrown. It happened again against MIN this preseason. When the Vikes were near the goal line, Christian Ponder faked a handoff and rolled out to his right. Since Kelsay crashed down, Christian was able to pick up the first down before the slow footed #90 reached him. Had Kelsay stood his ground and not bit on the fake, he could've easily had a tackle for a loss.

Thanks, nucci! I'll see what this link has to say. Hopefully it solves the problem. I didn't know how to take your, "try a different porn site first," quip when I was trying to ask a serious question. "Is this guy joking? Why is he insinuating that my issue revolves around watching porn?? Why did he have to chime in with a smart @$$ answer that doesn't help anyone?" My only response was to give back what I perceived you gave... a snarky retort.

Oh, good advice. Before I try the one you're always telling me about, I wanted to ask a question, to make sure there's no beef between us later... You are cool with me watching your mama right?
