You think some other team is going to give him anything other than a steep discount? I don’t. It’s either play for pennies (for a contender, he’s not going to the Browns) or hang em up.

He’ll come back if the Bills truly want him at a discount and no other contender gives him what he’s looking for.

Greg Rousseau Extended (4 years / 80M / 54M Guaranteed)
Brand J replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good question. Beane has to find him in the draft. I feel like he’s due to hit on an edge rusher with all the swings and misses he’s already taken. Edit: still could knock on Jerry’s door for Parsons to see what that would take. -
Greg Rousseau Extended (4 years / 80M / 54M Guaranteed)

Sweat’s production the last 4 years is almost identical to Rousseau, except he has a double digit sack season in there. Joe Marino says he’d sign Sweat as a “big ticket pass rusher,” and be done with the position, but Sweat is just another Robin. He did play monumentally better against KC than Rousseau ever has, I’ll grant you that, but we need Batman to elevate everyone on the DL. -

Cut candidate in Chicago. Still can’t believe they got suckered in to paying him all that money. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/chicago-bears/news/bears-underperforming-tremaine-edmunds-tabbed-cut-candidate/7b66305a764d65f90e3209ce -

My maximum for DE2 was $19M/yr, but I can’t hate this at $20M. I was absolutely against the Spotrac projections. -
Von Miller & Bills trying to agree on contract?
Brand J replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
He also had 6 sacks while missing 4 games and playing a fraction of the snaps. Only 2 less than our sack leader (who also went against bad OLs). You’re too harsh on Von, if the Bills can work out the pay cut I’m all for bringing him back. -
Von Miller & Bills trying to agree on contract?
Brand J replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
He had 30 something pressures and 6 sacks, all while missing multiple games and having limited time on the field. I think he was absolutely productive enough in that role. The fact he disappeared in the playoffs has to do with how little he was on the field. Whether that’s Von’s fault or the coaching staff thought they could get more out of other players, Von wasn’t given the opportunities. But as was mentioned above, Myles Garrett wouldn’t have made a huge impact against KC given how fast Mahomes got the ball out. Scheme and secondary were to blame. -
Mike Gesicki was a UFA the year Beane traded up to draft Kincaid. Could’ve just signed him for cheap and used that 1st rounder on another position. Didn’t like trading up for Kincaid then and I still don’t like it now.

Eagles reset RB market, extend Barkley.
Brand J replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
If I was Henry, there’s no way I play this year at $8M after what I gave the Ravens offense last year. He should absolutely be at least $15M/yr, even at his age. He was an MVP candidate after all and showed no signs of slowing down throughout the season. -

Once defenses started building to stop the pass and starting quality WRs became plentiful in the draft, I knew the value of RBs was due to increase. In NO WORLD was Justin Jefferson worth $35M/yr versus Saquon Barkley at $13M/yr, that was just ridiculous. And even more a slap in the face contractually considering Barkley just won OPOTY and was in the mix for NFL MVP. It’s a passing league, so I get that a WR will have slightly more value to an offense (say if Barkley and Jefferson were on the same team), but the contracts for the two positions had long been out of whack. Cook was the second best player on our offense this year, more valuable than Shakir, but we all (rightly) thought that Shakir at $15M/yr was great value while Cook at the same amount was absurd. Thinking that way was absurd, but it was made absurd due to the low money given to RBs. Next up the WR contracts should come back down to earth a bit. If I was a GM, I’m not paying the position more than $30M/yr, I don’t care who it is. They’re still well overvalued considering how defenses now play the pass and the number of good to great WRs that exist in the league. -
I didn’t believe that was Matt when I saw Bills social media post it. Had to go back and look up his run myself. Looks quite different.

I proposed a 64 yarder earlier but it wouldn’t be fair to the kickers who don’t have the leg. I actually love the punting idea I proposed, where a punter stands alone at the 50, only him on the field. He has to kick the ball inside the 5 yard line either out of bounds or it has to come to a stop there. Inside the 5, the offense gets the ball again. Extremely difficult scenario with an element of fun, although if the punters get good at it and conversions start happening at a 15% clip, I could see the opposition being pissed that they weren’t on the field to have a say in it.

Dorion Williams youngest LB in league this year to lead in tackles
Brand J replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
All while conceding his starting spot to Milano. Who knows how many tackles he would’ve ended up with if he had remained in the lineup. -
I wonder if Josh had flipped the ball to the ref that gave the first, if he still would’ve conceded his spot to the other one. Just a frustrating series of downs, should’ve had the first twice.

One of the best duos of all time. Hall & Oates!

Some could say Sweat is also still improving. He wasn’t a starter his first 3 years and he’s put in work the last 4. And of course he also has a double digit sack season on his resume. It’s just my beliefs though, if I’m re-signing Rousseau to be DE2 on my DL (which he is), I’m not going above $20M/yr for him, or any other DE2.

There’s a 93+% recovery rate by the hands team. When kickers were hitting extra points from the 2 yard line, they moved it back to the 16 to make it more difficult. The success rate for extra points is still high, but at least it’s not the 99% of years ago. We need a little more variance in the 6-7% recovery rate for onside kicks.
-
Wonder if they can take the refs out of it somehow, but keep a kicking component, something extremely difficult. I’d say a 64 yard made FG for the right to possess the ball again, but that wouldn’t be fair because all the kickers don’t have the leg for it. What else could we entertain that’s low percentage? Perhaps some sort of coffin corner punt? Downed or out of bounds inside the 5 yard line (kicking from the 50?) I don’t know, but there has to be a fair alternative to the current onside kick.
-
I wouldn’t say “considerably” worse. Rousseau had had the better career, but it’s close. If Rousseau is considered Robin and we still need to find Batman, I’d rather Robin be at Sweat’s price point than Groot’s - just under $20M/yr. The Batman equivalent, if we can trade for him, will command over $30M/yr. Not sure how PFF has Greg at 9 regular season sacks, Pro Football Reference has him at 8. Slight variances with other stats too.

Another DT trade target - NE’s Davon Godchaux
Brand J replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lots of talk this offseason about players moving around. Seems like more than other years. -
A sneak onside kick is no longer possible and those were recovered at a much higher rate than regular, expected onside kicks. I think the recovery percentage last year was somewhere around 7%. I’m cool with a 4th down snap from the 30 replacing the onside kick, but keep it at 15 yards. I do worry about officiating influencing the play, especially a ticky tack call.
