  1. 1 thing they fail to mention is that maybe a first round pick only makes it big time 50% of the time, but late round picks are a much bigger longshot. Hell, even if the success rate of 1st round QB's is 1 out of 3, the success rate for lower round QB's is probably more like 1 out of 30. Its all a matter of media perception. Everyone notices the big name forst round QB that was a bust, and everyone notices the names of low rounders that hti it big. No one remembers the countless late round QB's who wash out of the league year after year. The fact remains, all things being equal, if your team needs a QB you are better off selecting one early rather than late.
  2. Damn all this talk of free sex at this hour of the night...guess its off to wake the girlfriend.
  3. The knock on free sex is that its measurables didnt match up at the combine. Word on the street is that free sex doesnt have the stamina to compete. Also, another negative of free sex is that it needs someone else to compliment it when running the cover-2.
  4. I have no clue why some people choose to do that, it really is unnecessary. -Ramius
  5. Nope, obviously i am jealous of your ability to pick up 13 year old girls thru pedospace, errr, myspace...
  6. oh i know...but that line was too good to resist. plus, it got meazza'a panties all in a wad, which makes it worthwhile.
  7. I know in canada putting in a hockey arena qualifies a cluster of farms and lumberjack camps as a "city", but here in the states, we usually look for a large population before you are a city.
  8. First off, a caveat. I'm not starting this thread to debate the merits of DT's in this draft. that has been done ad nauseum for the past 2 months, as evidenced by roughly 64,852 threads on ngata vs bunkley. I am starting this thread to try and figure out why so many people clamor for a huge D-line and make so many deragatory comments about our line being "small". Can someone please tell me where its written that 300lb defensive tackles cant stop the run, and get bulled over by guards? The truth is, a smaller quicker defense and defensive line CAN stop the run, and do it successfully. This is the exact style of a cover 2 defense. You want quick players on defense that can cover a lot of ground and make plays everywhere. Players with sideline to sideline speed. In a cover 2 defense, the d-line is responsible for generating pressure on the QB. That means all 4 players on the line must be able to get after the QB, which is why you dont see 340lb cloggers just eating space in a cover 2. As for stopping the run, you can stop the run by pursuit and gang tackling. (2 things i remember marv preaching about to our defense in the 90's) Here are some cover 2 teams with good defenses, and these are the sizes of their D-lines. Tampa (cover 2) Mcfarland is 300, and Hovan tips the scales at 298. The Buccs have 1 backup DT at 337, and the remainder of their DT's all hover around the 300 lb mark. They dont have trouble stopping the run. (even when they had sapp, he weighs in at 300) Chicago (cover 2) Harris weighs in at 300, johnson and scott weigh in at 300 and 302 as well. the biggest DT on the bears roster is boone at 318. The bears seemd to be fairly good against the run. Washington The skins dont have a dominant defense, but their D played well enough last year to carry the team while it had some offensive woes. The D-line is led by cornelious griffin, who clocks in at 300 lbs. No other DT on the team is over 300 lbs. Indy (cover 2) This is going to break some hearts. The colts D really stepped it up this season, but a quick look at the roster shows no DT over 300 lbs. Tripplet fit their scheme as a rotational DT of about the same size. Oh, and to all of you claiming that Corey Simon was the big clogger needed for their D...he tips the scales at an astounding 297. He helped their defense tremendously, but is "small" by a lot of posters standards. So to summarize my point, it is not necessary to have a large defensive line to play good defense and stop the run. There are more ways to be successful than to have big fat DT's standing around in the middle of the field. I'm not saying 1 defense is better than another, but the Bills are running a cover 2, and cover 2 teams traditionally dont have large DT's. I just would liek to know why so many posters think a "small" d-line will not be as effective against the run as your typical "big" D-line. I welcome any conterpoints/issues you have with what i wrote. just please keep with the spirit of this thread and do not turn this thread into a ngata vs bunkley debate. there are other threads for that.
  9. C'mon, get your 'noles straight... Bunkley stole a video game in 2003 Sims was the one who "pinned his girlfriend down on the ground and wouldnt let her up" No charges were filed. AJ Nicholson was arrsted for beating some guys ass in a bar fight a year or so ago, and then was sent home for the alleged sexual misconduct right before the orange bowl. No charges against him for the orange bowl incident and nothing has been uncovered to say that he actually did anything wrong. Wyatt Sexton was the one who was arrested for laying in the middle of the street claiming he was God. His family says it was all because of lyme disease. The entire campus knows it was becuase he was on a crazy weekend long drug bender at a dave matthews band concert in the days prior to the incident.
  10. I would throw up if the Bills moved to Toronto. I would then collect all my bills stuff and light 1 big bonfire, and then extinguish it by pissing on everything. I would then hope the toronto bills go 0-16 for eternity. !@#$ toronto.
  11. Havent you heard? It is all of the WR's fault. Vick throws perfect passes, but the WR's just cant catch them. Vick is never at fault.
  12. there'll be a thread calling for jauron's head by the end of the first quarter against new england.
  13. ok, how come the abomination that the titans wear on their heads now isnt included as worst now, and of all time. that thing is just plain ugly.
  14. And some people have a wood over Ngata because "they've heard of him" and "he's big" One point we can agree upon tho is that they arent worth the #8 pick. Huff or davis would be a much better choice.
  15. a chiseled 300lbs is hardly a tub of goo. Did you read the profile on Ngata? may have some weight problems and takes too many plays off. Sound like a player you want on the bills?
  16. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft06/news/story?id=2407432 the article is a good read on character of players, how much it affects their stock, and what raises flags of scouts and GM's. mentions some players of questionable character in this draft. They had an interesting take on Leinhart firing steinberg as his agent. Also in there was this little tibdit by Jeremy Green, a scout for the browns from 2000-2005, and now ESPN's director of scouts inc.
  17. Exactly. You dont want something that will whine and cry more than the baby.
  18. No. If we are talking about your ideal world, and about drafting a DT in round 1, bunkley over the tub of goo from oregon, in a heartbeat.
  19. send an email to the buff news. Or call channel 2 on your side. Get the media involved, and i guarantee you'll get quite the good response from danny's.
  20. I've been labeled a bunkley homer since i'm a fellow 'nole, but what i noticed about him this season was how much of a disruptive force he is. What int seen in his stats is how many times he blew up a play and let one of our other defenders make the big play. There was one play that stood out to me. Bunkley blew into the backfield, forced a bad pass that was picked and taken for 6. That wont show up on any stat line, but in all likelihood, the int and TD isnt made without bunkley crashing into the backfield. If huff and davis are gone at 8 and we cant trade down, then i'd draft bunkley.
  21. I agree with you in that the more draft "research" i do, the more i think we pass on a DT in round 1, as there is tremendous talent at the position in this draft. Say yes to huff or davis.
  22. Good point. What is overrated is saying that we have to take a DT or OT as #8, even tho in all likelihood there wont be a lineman of that caliber on the board. Saying that #8 is too high to take a game breaking S or TE is also highly overrated.
  23. Thanks for the links. Ngata keeps sounding more and more like sam adams jr. not a good sign.
  24. If they take a QB, you've got it backwards. Brees's contract essentially amounts to a 1 year 10 mil deal. If he falters or isnt going to completely revocer, they let him go, and then start the rookie they draft this year in 2007.
  25. just a hunch. I'd be really surprised if the titans didnt take vince at 3. Word is that the owner and GM (adams and reese) want young, and fisher and chow want leinhart. I'm just saying that the owner and GM are likely to win out over the coach and OC. The jts want a QB, and what better way than to take leinhart? While it would make more sense ot take williams, NYC wants a shiny new toy, and a "face of the franchise" N.O. would like to take williams, but they have grant and smith. They would like to take d'brick, but they have jammal brown, a high paid tackle and last years first round pick. They move him to LT, and wouldnt want to pay another 1st round contract for another tackle. They love hawk, hes a great player, they wouldnt have to take him at 2, and he fills a need.
