  1. Yeah, the new ACC contract has FSU in an uproar. The university president said they FSU is committed to the ACC, and then the chair of the board of trustees says the exact opposite. At the end of the day, money is probably going to talk. FSU has many reasons to leave the ACC, and few to stay. I've never seen a conference treat their "flagship" football program as crappy as the ACC does to FSU. From horrible scheduling; this year we open the seaosn with 4 consecutive home games, and play 5/8 on the road to end things, to staging games at the most dumbass times (Clemson vs FSU is in late september...given that the game should have major implications on who wins the division, you'd think they'd push it to november to get the conference in the spotlight. Also, they scheduled the FSU-VT game this year for a thursday night. The ACC is the only (*^*&%^$^#conference to make its marquee teams play weeknight games. Thursday night is for low tier schools of low conference to play, not the top 2 teams in your conference). Basically, from the FSU perspective, the ACC is focused first and foremost on the North Carolina schools and basketball. This is evident given the fact that under the new deal, the third tier TV rights (negotiated by the individual schools, not the conference) are open for basketball, but NOT football. So the Duke's and UNC's can sell their 3rd tier rights for b-ball games, but FSU and the like can't for football. The rumors that have been swirling are that Clemson would hop to the Big 12 with FSU. I don't think any movement will happen until the new playoff system is determined. At that time, i expect FSU to make a decision to given the most beneficial opportunity to compete for a football title. I'm all for exploring the Big XII, because frankly, the ACC treats FSU like crap.
  2. Letting them play baseball is just the start of a slippery slope. Pretty soon we're going to have dogs and cats playing second base on high school teams, or teams are going to try to start multiple players at the same position.
  3. Lots of rooks change their numbers after the final 53 are chosen. Many numbers will be freed up from cuts during preseason.
  4. There won't be holdouts because of the hard rookie cap. If all other rookies for a team are signed, then the team can offer X amount of money to the 1st rounder. Plain and simple. Holding out won't get the player more money, because the team won't be allowed to pay any more money.
  5. Glad to see people are bringing up the real problem here, and it's not concussions. (Obviously concussions aren't good, so thats not what i'm saying) As Darin mentioned, the real problem with head trauma is the repeated, low impact collisions over 30 years from the time these guys pick up a football as a kid until they retire. There may be the same number or percentage of concussions in the NHL as in the NFL (i don't know). But, the biggest difference is that in hockey, i'm not lining up and slamming my head into a teammate for 3 hours 5 days a week like what goes on during football practice.

  7. They're easy to understand. They simply want to restrict the freedoms of others because they think its icky. Last time i checked, freedom of beliefs went all ways. Too many people, including those against gay marriage, think that freedom of beliefs means only their own beliefs. Alogn with waiting for other answers, i'm waiting to hear a valid argument as to just how a gay couple getting married affects some other random straight couple.
  8. I'd settle for anyone against gay marriage to tell me exactly what they "lose" by gays getting married.
  9. That's fine. It comes from both sides, so i wasn't intentionally saying that certain religions are the only ones casting stones. As for me, i was raised catholic. i still have faith, and still believe in God, yet i have stepped away from the "religion" aspect of everything largely in part for the reasons i mentioned above. I've seen too many supposed "religious" types act the opposite of what they supposedly stand for, including people very close to me. That doesn't mean all do. But too many for my liking to stay with the religion.
  10. What is embarrassing is a religion that preaches tolerance has so many members willing to cast stones at others who don't fall into lock step with their beliefs. "Everyone is free to believe their own beliefs as long as they match mine," correct?
  11. Gays somehow "destroy the sanctity of marriage" but Kim Kardashian doesn't?
  12. Yup. that's his biggest weakness is over-agressiveness. He flies around all the time, lots of times looking for the kill shot. (Frankly, our D could use some attitude like that). Because of that, he can find himself over pursuing of out of position. And he's taken a few personal fouls for late hits where he went in to deliver the big hit instead of pulling up at the last second. But nothing malicious.
  13. What NFL are you watching? It's a pass first, pass happy league. The Bills run D has been bad largely in part because the other teams builds a lead and then runs to keep the clock moving.
  14. http://popwatch.ew.com/2012/05/08/star-wars-1313-lucasfilm-domain-purchases/ Lucasfilm is buying up a bunch of webdomains relating to Star Wars 1313. Is it a movie? A new video game? TV series? Speculation is that it involves Boba Fett, since he's used the alias CT-1313 in one of the storylines.
  15. AFAIK, if the Bills want to keep them, they will get signed to the 90-man roster.
  16. Completely agreed. And not just because i'm an FSU fan. there have been plenty of other ACC games where the officials make you shake your head in disbelief. Hell, we've gotten calls going our way that i feel dirty for accepting the penalty. The ACC officials are absolute garbage.
  17. These guys are coming in for what basically amounts to an extended tryout. Play good enough, you might get invited back to camp.
  18. Because you can have an amazing individual performance even within the confines of a team loss. This isn't a difficult concept to understand.
  19. Yes, but did your PC biuld come with the large dose of sumgness than comes with paying 2-3x for the same computing power when buying a mac?
  20. Good. This season can't enoguh soon enough. I really hope they stop with the casting of single 20-somethings in the fall. (Notice how during the family challenge, Tarzan was the only one with a spouse? Back in the good ole days, a good number of the survivors were married. As of right now, i'm rooting for Chlese/Tarzan/Christina in that order. Chelsea has played a much better game than Kim, but she annoys me a bit because she's afraid to make the big move and wipeout Kim. (Althought at this point, i think Kim's sufficiently pissed off enough people that she has no chance of winning. And, she doesn't deserve any votes until she gets rid of the 'stache she's been rocking) I'd love to see Tarzan win just because it'd break up the girls. I'd love to see Christina win because she's monumentally stupid, is one of the worst players to play the game, doesn't deserve to win, yet she's still hanging around, and the girls would freak out.
  21. Apparently, Irvin was a target of the Jets if Seattle didn't take him.
  22. EJ's been inconsistent, but to say he's unathletic is one of the dumbest things i've ever read on this board. There's no question he's got the physical talent and all the physical skills. If the "light goes on" as the saying goes, he could be a high pick in 2013. If he continues the way he's been playing, he's no more than a mid round project.
  23. We should sign him, and expect all of our current DBs to offer up their numbers to him, as a show of "team leadership"
  24. Love it. The best part was Ruff sending out the Peters-Mair-Kaleta line when that (*^*&%^$^#Bwian Muwway sent out his top line. Anyone with a functioning brain cell knew what was gonna go down when the puck was dropped. I only wish Ruff would have pummeled Muwway. Or Ray.
  25. The NFL needs to take a page from baseball and have a 4 game and 8 game IR along with season ending IR. Then you can "call up" guys from the PS and this would allow everyone to carry a full 53 on game day.
