46% of Americans believe in creation
Ramius replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yes there is fossil and DNA evidence. You can track morphological changes in things such as skull shape and size as hominids evolved. The early hominids were your so-called "transitional species". Homo sapiens split off from them, but at the same times, they continued to exist. Eventually, all of the other "homo" genus organisms died out, and homo sapiens are the only ones left. I know i'll get fried for saying this, but check out wikipedia's page on human evolution. It does a good job of summarizing current beliefs, and backs them up with facts from numerous published papers on the topic. EDIT: i also add in that its impossible to find records of an organism transitioning into a new organism. Frankly, organisms of a single species are the same until the new evolved organism is all of a sudden in existence, via the process over thousands of years and longer. -
46% of Americans believe in creation
Ramius replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My point was that distinct species don't evolve directly into another distinct species. That's not how evolution works. One organism, through external pressures and natural selection over the course of time, can and does evolve into a variety of organisms based on the specific forces it has encountered. They are different from the ancestor and different from each other. Many of the noobs die out. Some don't and continue on. At some point they become too different to inter-breed. You're hung up on terminology and an antiquated belief on what "evolution" constitutes. -

Back to the original topic, creationism should be left off the school science dockett, because it isn't science. It should be left to a philosophy or religion course. -

As stated earlier, there is evidence for species evolving into other species. You really can't believe that natural selection exists without believing evolution does. natural selection drives evolution. You're mistaken on your views of the overall dogma of evolution. One species doesn't "turn into" another. That's an antiquated point of view. Evolution occurred by a single common ancestor organism experiencing varying pressures and undergoing changes. These pressures and changes thus led to multiple new species forming. It's not a linear process. there are many branch points along the way. Humans didn't evolve directly from chimps. There was a common primate ancestor that both humans and chimps evolved from. Along with fossil evidence for this, there's also DNA evidence. An extremely high similarity in DNA (as us and chimps have) shows that we came from the same source at some point in time. The more different the DNA, the farther back in time we split from a common ancestor. -
What do you think about the Corasanti verdict?
Ramius replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Was the girl in the road when she was hit? A friend's sister is an attorney who has handled DUI cases before and said if someone is in the road when they get hit, it makes it so much more difficult on the prosecution. This one sounds like stupidity from both parties led to her death. -
Remember too, even though there was no change in the cap from last year to this year, the cap is about to blow up once the new TV money kicks in. I thought i have erad that it could jump from the current level of about 120 million all the way to 140 million or higher.

It's already been brought up in this thread that Shanny and Belicheat do have complete autonomy over personnel decisions. Most HCs don't. They work with the GM, but the GM is the one making the decisions. As for tebow and mcdaniels, how did that arrangement work out for them in denver? McDaniels is precisely the reason why you want a qualified personnel man making draft decisions, not the HC.
-
Yeah, look at all of Ralph's in-house hires for HC, like Gailey, Jauron, Mularkey, Gregggggo, Levy, Stephenson, Knox, etc. No, he shouldn't. GMs bring in the players, and the coaches are tasked to utilize them to the best fo their ability. Of course there needs to be communication, and the coaches should be providing input as to what positions are of a particular need, but the coach most definitely should NOT be making the final say in personnel decisions. they focus on teams and coaching, not scouting.

I have used BR for that, but it was hell trying to clean poop off my screen. Awwwww, it a wittle faux "journalist" from bleacher report getting her panties in a bunch? The difference is that on this site, none of us try to pretend we're real writers (except that wawrow character).

Again, the biggest difference between this year and last is that this year he actually had the achilles issued repaired. Last year it wasn't fixed. It was just rehabbed.

Count me in with the pro-direcTV crowd. I've had them for 5+ years now and loved them. As Fez said, most of my friends who have had "problems" with DirecTV have had problems with the sub-contractors. I myself have never had an issue. And the few times there have been goof-ups, i call them and usually get free movie channels or a bill credit, etc. I'll also add in, that if you do sign up for DirecTV, call them directly to sign up and set up your plan and installation. I've notice that 3rd parties who offer direcTV often times have issues with the installers, service times, etc. Last year i complained and got sunday ticket for free. This year, even if they aren't giving discounts, i'll gladly pay the $199 for the ticket. Its much better than having to head off to the bar every week, where i'll spend more $. Not to mention with the ticket, i can tivo the games if i'm out of town and not gonna be able to catch the game until later on sunday.

I've got a few questions about the area, so if anyone on here is from or familiar with the area, some help would be greatly appreciated. PM me if you are and i'll let you know the details.

So the Bills should have taken Matthews at 41 and missed even though he was drafted at 26 by GB?

Some of you guys with a good Madden 12 eye
Ramius replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes you can each have a team in the same franchise online. For mine that i mentioned above, each of the 8 of us took a team in a different division. You log in and play your game. When every human has played their game, then the commish can advance the franchise to the next week. As for the rosters, you have to use the official EA rosters. It'll make you download the most current ones when you log in to the franchise. Unfortunately, you can't use your own updated rosters. -
Saints shouldn't give brees a long term deal
Ramius replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting. I think Brees is the first player to be tagged by multiple teams. -

Ramius replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Madden '12 does have online franchise mode with multiple owners. Last season i had an online franchsie and there were 8 of us playing. We set a deadline amongst ourselves as to when your game for a week had to be finished. We did have some issues at times connecting for the human vs human games. It's separate from the off-line franchise mode. Just remember tho, unless things have changed, EA sports typically shuts off the previous year's servers when the new game comes out. So you'll only have about 3 months of online game play left for '12. -
Weiss was coming to Buffalo in 03
Ramius replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What happens then when a month later Weiss decides that he's going to stay with newengland* for another season? As was mentioned earlier, sometimes you gotta take option #2 to prevent getting stuck with option #10. -
I usually manually adjust some ratings up and down to make them a bit more realistic.

It'd be nice if Madden could get the correct color of the Bills endzones this year.

I'd prefer Clemson over VT because they're much more of a rival of FSU. Series has gotten pretty nasty the past handful of years. If FSU lost the miami game, i'd hate to lose the Clemson as well. Plus, taking VT over Clemson would make watching Clemson's annual collapse much less gratifying.

Ramius replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, because charlie weiss has really torn it up on the coaching circuit since leaving newengland*. So much so, that he's got the top job at that college powerhouse, Kansas. The fruit from belicheat's* coaching tree is rotten. Mostly because they don't have tom brady and they can't cheat. -
The toronto series has little to do with the average fan. The team, and the NFL as a whole don't care about the average fan. Their main goal is to get the big businesses to buy suites and luxury boxes. There's very little of that coming from Buffalo, hence the need to try to draw in the toronto dollars.

The "system" was the basic warning that teams should not use the single uncapped year as a loophole to benefit themselves in future capped years. (No, it was not legally binding) The 2 major cheating teams did use the loophole, and got a deserved punishment for it. It's a business, and 32 franchises decide what's best for business. 4 of the franchises decided to put themselves as individuals ahead of the business as a whole, and the other 28 owners chose to smack them back into place. No one team is above the league. Jerry and Danny-boy just learned a very expensive lesson that this is how things are run. If you read JohnC's quote from a few posts back, this was in the article. And overall, I'm not necessarily arguing what the owners did was right, just that the cowboys and redskins rightfully deserved the punishments they recevied. The 2006 CBA has nothing to do with bounty gate, that's why its being brought up.
