  1. So you dont think they'll have trouble recruiting? This is vastly different than USC or Ohio St. you havent explained any reasons. And I have yet to hear any big time writer or reporter think that this won't decimate penn state dor a decade.
  2. I'd like to hear your reasons why you think penn state will not suffer, when theres an almost unanimous agreement tnat they will be hurting and non-competitive for a long time. I laid out the arguments against them pretty clearly. In other news, the first of the young kids are beginning to leave or decommit. Also, silas redd is being chased heavy by USC.
  3. USC was completely different than penn st. Penn state is going to be gutted. Virtually everyone knowledgeable in college football, from sportswriters to TV guys, to coaches, believe that this is going to hurt penn state for a long time. No way penn state goes to a bowl the year they come back. here are some simple differences. -USC got a 2 year bowl ban. That means that they can tell kids they'll redshirt a year, and by the start of their sophomore season they'll be bowl eligible and will get 3 shots at a bowl/title. penn state kids will never get a shot. -USC is inifinitely better at recruiting than penn state is. I highlighted this in my earlier post. Kids beat down the door from all over the country to play at USC. The onyl kids that beat down the door to play at penn state are kids from BFE, PA. There's a huge talent differential. -USC had years of appeals prior to being hit with the bowl ban. They basically stockpiled great freshmen so they'd be ready and raring to go when the ban was lifted. No way penn state can do this since an entire class or 2 will never get the chance to sniff a post season game. -Penn state will struggle to physically field a team capable of competing on a week in and week out basis while under scholarship restriction. This won't be overcome the instant they are off of bowl ban and back to full scholarship. -Finally, penn state has been an also-ran for years now. USC was recently a powerhouse. They aren't going to all of a sudden rise from the ashes coming off a 4 year bowl ban and be in the national picture. penn state will flounder for at least the better part of a decade. I said they'd have trouble winning a conference game...in a few seasons when the sanctions take full effect. This year's team will probably still be respectable, since i don't see many seniors leaving. But, in a few years, the team will be gutted of the little top end talent they had.
  4. In all honesty, i see them struggling to win a single big 10 game during each season.
  5. Laughable post. This is crushing to penn st. We'll probably have an 8-team playoff before penn state is relevant again. It'll be at least 5-10 years before they are competitive enough to threaten bowl games, more than (if ever) that for big time bowl games. Consider the following: 1. After this season, depending on how many players leave, Penn state is looking at minimum of 3-5 seasons where they will claw and scratch to win 2-3 games. They are going to field a roster of 2 star recruits, with a scattering of 3 star players mixed in. Their talent level will be at that of a MAC team. No player with NFL aspirations is going near that program for the near future. 2. They will have no depth. The 20 scholarship ban takes them to a 1-AA scholarship level (in terms of numbers) team. It eliminates an entire tier of scholarship players off of the depth chart. Think of this. If you're a 2-star player, are you going to want to go to a Temple type school where you can start and play and win, or a penn state where you're going to physically get your ass kicked for 8 games per year? 3. Even when the bowl ban is lifted, you think big time recruits are all of a sudden going to flock back to happy valley? hell no. You think a 4-star QB is gonna go to a school where he's surrounded by 2-star talent? No way. It'll take years to build up the talent level even when they get past the sanctions. 4. Unlike USC, penn state CAN't recruit nationally. USC can grab players from anywhere in the country. Penn st can't. They're limited to PA, the northeast, and some of the mid atlantic. They can't simply walk into FL, CA, or TX and get who they want like USC/UT/florida schools can. Not to mention that other teams in the area are going to expand recruiting lines, especially 'Cuse and Pitt who can now use moving to the ACC to their advantage. This punishment is just as bad as the death penalty, and completely warranted. Penn state isn't going to be relevant anytime soon.
  6. Agreed. 10 wins is all you can ask for. If you win 10 and don't make the playoffs, it's simply bad luck. Here's the recent number of 10 win teams in NFL by conference. The vast majority of the time, 10 wins gets you in the playoffs. In fact, 50% of the time a team with 9 or fewer wins makes the playoffs. Year - AFC, NFC 2011 - 4, 5 2010 - 6, 7 2009 - 4, 6 2008 - 6, 4 2007 - 7, 4 2006 - 5, 3 2005 - 7, 6 2004 - 6, 3
  7. Kenny is rockin' an awesome 'stache in that photo.
  8. The arrogance of season ticket holders in this thread is astounding. Can anyone explain why the highest revenue major sports league is the only one to blackout the local games of the home team? It's nothing more than pure greed.
  9. So the Bills "took the ball out of Losman's hands" by having him throw the same number of passes in the second half of the season as the first? The ONLY difference in the pass playcalling in the second half was that dickless jauron allowed JP to run around and chuck the ball downfield, his main strength. Notice how dickless reigned in JP in 2007, and he looked like garbage. Also, the comment about not watching film is pure garbage. You honestly think he didn't study the playbook or film? He's not billy joe hobert. Complete bull ****. He just wasn't a very good QB outside of the deep ball. None of that has anything to do with you making up complete falsehoods in an attempt to denigrate him. Edwards was laughably awful. At least JP tried to win, instead of checking down or throwing the ball away on 3rd down. Edwards' best season (2008) wasn't anywhere close to JP's best season (2006).
  10. I have zero tolerance for bums and panhandlers. They dont get a dime. Makes me happy when the cops down here rough them up. Theres a bum with a dog by a wal-mart here. Multiple times i've seen people come out of the store with food/treats for the dog and nothing for the bum. That restores some faith in humanity.
  11. FSU Ol are coached to do that. If some of you would try a little bit of reading before posting, you'd realize this. Especially when its been repeated 20 times in this thread, and countless times in dozens of threads before this over the past 2 years.
  12. +1 tough for moorman to be captain when Powell is the punter.
  13. Its all perception and expectation. Anything can be done if you can convince your mind as to what the expected result should be.
  14. Lemme guess...you also think the Apollo program was a giant waste of money, because all we got from it was "a few moon rocks".
  15. They should have a good squad. How is their QB situation going to be with the loss of cousins? I don't see them going undefeated. Boise, ND, Ohio St, and then the 3 game stretch of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nebraska? Looking at those games individually, yes they can win each one. Looking at those games collectively, i don't see them winning all of them. However, if they can go 12-1 with a b1g 10 championship and that schedule, i'd put them in the title game (barring 2 undefeated teams) The good thing about this season is that after last year's debacle, no matter how good the teams are, the SEC is getting a MAX of 1 team in the title game.
  16. If you have 7 people over for dinner, you're not going to have an extra steak.
  17. Ok, i'll give you some of those schools. I specifically mentioned the SEC by name, because of a team like florida that hasn't gone on the road outside of the southeast in about 20 years. I just hate the garbage schedules a lot of top teams have. Even FSU is starting to do it that way since Jimbo took over. While it was time for Bowden to move on, he was never afraid to play anyone. Jimbo is content with playing UF and 3 cupcakes and that's extremely frustrating. I want to eliminate that.
  18. I have 2 big issues with this. First, who says that K-state wasn't "NC" material? You? Just because they aren't a traditional power? Any team that's in the top 8 in the nation deserves a shot at the title, to be determined on the field, not by some SEC-biased jackasses in a poll. K-state was playing some damn good football last season, and could have knocked off a top team. Going by the December BCS standings, the top 8 would have been LSU, 'bama, Ok St, Oregon, Stanford, Arkansas, Boise St, and K-state. All of those teams were playing great ball last year and its tough to argue that any of them didn't deserve a shot. Second, as for the "protect the sanctity of the regular season" argument, that's traditionally one of the most asinine arguements out there. If the regular season is so important, then why was 'bama in the title game? They showed they couldn't beat LSU, so why'd they get a rematch? What about 2003 when there were 3 unbeatens? So much for Auburn's great regular season, huh? The regular season in college ball is a joke, because it has only mattered WHEN you lose, not WHO you lose to. If the "regular season is like a playoff" then every team that isn't unbeaten should not have a shot at the title.
  19. I have similar ideas as to my *ideal* playoff. Drop the regular season back to 11 games. The "big" conferences MUST have a conference championship game to qualify. All conference champs get a playoff spot, along with 5 wildcards. Wildcards are selected and teams are seeded based on a committee. Higher seeded teams host at least round 1, possibly the quarterfinals. Then money goes directly to the school, not some jackass "bowl executive" who does nothing all year and then cashes a fat paycheck. wildcards are decided mainly by record and strength of schedule. I'd take a 2-loss team with a high profile loss as opposed to a 1 loss team who beat up on 1-AA schools <cough> SEC <cough>. (minus alabama, the only SEC team who will play anyone) All other bowl eligible teams not in the playoffs can then be selected to the bowl of their choice.
  20. I'm with you guys. At least 8 teams, but 16 teams with all 11 conference winners getting a playoff spot would be ideal. Whats always the 1st rule/goal in college sports? Win your conference. But, the 4 team playoff is a step in the right direction, and now it seems like only a matter of time before the bowls are rendered largely irrelevant and the playoff is expanding.
  21. It's WEO. Reading comprehension was never a strong suit.
  22. +1 either use an ass gasket or plain old paper, but i always line a public seat before taking a deuce.
  23. Read the article. As usual, you're wrong.
  24. I kinda look like the Gorton's fisherman. But with an FSU hat on.
  25. How's your NewFL working out?
