This has been a hell of a baseball season for me thusfar. My A's coming from out of nowhere to not only make the playoffs, but sweep the Rangers to outright win the division! Awesome. I was in shock and awe watching the final game yesterday. They simply never quit, and never have all season long. 5 back with 9 to go, and an incredible 4 back with 6 to go and they pull it off. I'm looking forward to the postseason. And to do all of this after trading away Gio, Cahill, and Bailey? And without one of their top pitchers in Brett Anderson? Awesome. Then my boy Buster Posey absolutely blows up. Sure, he had this type fo season in him, but it was totally unexpected coming off such a horrific injury. Then you got Miggy winning the triple crown. I wish more of this was discussed. Its an amazing feat, and something i wasn't sure i'd ever see in my lifetime, given the proliferation of .200 avg - 50 HR types in the bigs.

Kyle Williams fined $15K for hit on Brady
Ramius replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Care to explain then why there was no flag and/or fine then for the exact same hit on Fitz a mere quarter earlier? KWs fine and flag were nothing but complete patsy*-loving bull **** by the NFL. -
They said that combined on on 17 & 18 yesterday, europe won 8 holes and the US 3. Simply couldn't close out. 1 more half point and the cup was ours. (i'm not counting tiger losing 18 to guido luigi because it was obvious tiger didn't give a ****)
-
Phil got run. On 17, he chips from just off the green, thought it was going in for a birdie, raised his hands, and the ball didn't break that last 1/4 inch and skirted the cup. Then Rose hit a bomb from about 45 feet that he had no business making for his birdie. On 18, phil hit a bad approach, but got up and down for par, and Rose sank his birdie from 20 feet to win another hole. Furyk lipped out on 16 which would have won the match, and then just missed on 18 to halve the match. As i said earlier, the US played like crap, but europe got ALL of the luck today.
-
Agreed. I'm not excusing CJ for the fumble, because he HAS to hang onto it. But to smash the guy with the bum shoulder into the line inside the 5 is the height of coaching idiocy.
-
Because this team isn't ready for big time. No QB. We beat up on the crappy teams and get blown out by any good teams. And that trend isnt looking like its gonna change anytime soon.
-
Was Seve's ghost helping the euros today? They generally outplayed the 'mericans today, but there were a handful of putts that europe had no right making and did, and then i counted about a half a dozen american putts that just lipped out. If even 1 of them falls, we win the cup. That type of luck usually balances itself out over that many holes in that many matches, but it was all on the euro side today.

Thats crazy about Rory. You'd think there'd be someone, somewhere that might be keeping track of the players whereabouts, especially when its an hour before your tee time and you're nowhere to be found. I did find it odd that the US was wearing blue and Europe was wearing pinkish the past few days. Traditionally the USA wears red and Europe blue.

I wish i could peform a more detailed analysis, but i haven't seen enough of him. I've seen parts of 3-4 of his games this season and really liked what i saw. He can make all the throws. You don't see him float the shorter ones, he drives the ball. He seems to move very well around in the pocket to buy time, and can run when needed. #Genomafia On the flip side, i'd really like to see him stand up against a good defense. Its relatively easy to make all the throws when you've got all day to sit in the pocket. I know QBs perfom worse under pressure in general, but i really wanna see how Geno handles a defense that makes him "uncomfortable" all game long. Unfortunately, we're not going to see that in the Big Xii(-2). With as good as WV appears to be, i hate that they cancelled the game down here against FSU. I'd have loved to see Geno vs our defense. Now, i CAN give a full detailed analysis on EJ Manuel.

The atmosphere there looks amazing. Bubba Watson really is the real life Happy Gilmore. This group of younger guys we got seems unfazed by the way Europe has been dominating Ryder Cup play for what, 20 years now? I guess playing in the Tiger Era has had a positive effect on them. Also, these guys are in finitely better at playing tram golf than the old guard. When was the last time we played that well in foursomes?
-
I hope 'Merica can clinch it in the match against that eurotrash poulter, and then go scream in his face. We typically dominate in singles play, but you never know. Tiger has been looking very good as of late. 4.5/12 points shouldn't be too difficult to get.
-
Those of us that follow college ball and like Geno like him as a QB because how he looks throwing the ball, making decisions, etc. The die-hard college ball fans don't take his raw stats into account.

You got it. He's the offensive answer to albert haynesworth.

#BillsMafia getting some press....
Ramius replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because people like you insist on belaboring the point that you think the name is lame. You gone to great lengths to bash the name for no good reason at all. If it doesn't bother you, then why continually bash it? -
#BillsMafia getting some press....
Ramius replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not an OG. If you don't believe me, PM me and i'll pass along my twitter handle and you can check for yourself. And the guys/girls that formed it are hardly 18 year old kids. There's no forced element to mafia at all. It takes nothing of the negative connotations of mafia, but rather the implication that bills fans are one giant "family" that has each others backs when an outsider (like the national media) takes cheap pot shots at the Bills. Its a banner for bills fans to stand up for one another and the fanbase and team as a whole. I don't see anything "forced" or 'contrived" about the name. You act like it was a bunch of kids thinking up names to call themselves, which it wasn't. Furthermore, i've used the Billsmafia hashtag to have conversations with AJ Williams, Nick Barnett, David Nelson, Freddie Jackson and CJ Spiller. Its a great tool for fans to interact with the players, especially when the players have bought into it. I just find the staunch opposition to it laughable, seeing how we here on this board are doing the exact same thing, except we use the "TwoBillsDrive" banner. Perhaps its a bit of jealousy because billsmafia has gotten recognition from the local press, ESPN, and the NFL network as well? If you don't like it, don't use it on twitter. But there's no reason to trash it or those that do use it. Edit: just for comparison, there are 13,000 registered members to this site, and close to 9,000 registered members of the #Billsmafia. So its hardly just a small group trying to "make a name" for themselves. -
#BillsMafia getting some press....
Ramius replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You couldn't be more inaccurate. 1. The purpose isn't to provoke others or troll. It started because Schefter was trashing the Bills. Much like how this board responds when a media member goes out of their way to bash the Bills. You make it sound like the whole purpose is to attack media members, which couldn't be farther from the truth. Now, as was mentioned, its a good way to find and interact with other bills fans on twitter, and get a pulse of what people are feeling. Search the hashtag. 2. No random, anonymous names? Seriously? You think my name is Ramius? 3. Why is the premise (name aside) silly? Discussing the bills with other fans over twitter is silly, but discussing the Bills on a message board is a-ok? You use the #Billsmafia hashtag as a search tool to find other Bills fans you can interact with. Its a simple way for a fanbase to identify themselves. I find it hilarious that it gets so many of you in an uproar. Bunch of cranky old men shaking their fist at the "new-fangled" technology. What exactly is trying too hard? Using a hashtag to identify yourself on an otherwise anonymous social media site? Putting a logo on your twitter avatar so you can proudly show off your team allegiance? I simply don't understand the "hate" of it, especially given that we are all engaging in the same activity on a message board. -
#BillsMafia getting some press....
Ramius replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm part of the #Billsmafia on twitter, and its great. I've interacted with numerous other people. Its simply a way for fans to unite in their support of the team. Not to mention that every dollar of #Billsmafia gear purchased goes to Roswell Park. And the players love it. Freddie, Barnett, Stevie, just to name a few. But if i've got this correct, its not ok for a bunch of random people who all love the Bills to talk with each other under a team specific banner on twitter, but it IS ok for a bunch of random people who all love the Bills to talk with each other under a team specific message board, like TwoBillsDrive? -
You do know that directional punting doesnt mean simply kicking OOB, dont you? Its kicking outside the hashmarks to limit the return possibilities.

Funny, because i have a few <cough> friends <cough> with the chinese jerseys and those numbers are stitched on great.

There's actually 4, if you count Garrison Sanborn, the LS. As for the cowgirls, Jenn Sterger is too busy looking at pictures of Favre's junk.

Sorry i'm late to the party, but i was on vacation last week and finally watched the premiere. AJ, the filming is waaaaaay ahead of the production. If i remember back to my survivor application days (i used to apply all the time before the players were casted), the fall season is filmed in june and july, possibly the beginning of august. The spring season is typically filmed in october and november. In one of the seasons, when a family member visited, one of the players asked who won the world series. The first season was the only season where the winner was revealed during the filming of the show. Since then, the final players have had to wait the ~5-6 months until the finale is aired. As for this year, i have some renewed faith in the cast. It "appears" that they didn't simply make this one a Survivor-Real World with frat boys and sorority girls. There seems to be a better spread of backgrounds/ages/etc. Zane was an idiot from the get go, with all his alliances, and then telling them to vote him off. He's up for dumbest player award. I don't mind Russel, but he's playing the game like a moron. I actually hate most of the blue tribe, so i hope they get mowed down. Penner is still a good character, but i dont think he's long for the game. Also, like you guys said, i like the 3 tribes setup, simply because it won't allow for one tribe to attempt to run the table, as usually happens. As for the eye candy, blondie from Utah is good looking, and i like the funbags from the yellow tribe. The brazilian is a classic butterface. The dark haired chick from the red tribe could be good looking, but she's been all covered up so far. I'm gonna go out on a limb, and say that frat boy from the blue tribe may be a bit smarter than he's given credit for. But thusfar, its tough to make any real assessments on the players.

Actually, cut Donald Jones in the week 1 cutdowns of preseason.

You guys do know that Powell was the holder here at FSU, don't you? And Tim Graham is full of **** wrt directional kicks. Powell was pretty good at kicking OOB and pinning teams deep down here at FSU. Last season, 23 of his 57 punts were downed inside the 20, and 14 inside the 10. I liked Moorman, and wish him the best of luck, because i personally know he's a great guy. But in terms of football ability and the future, we just got better.

I'm more concerned with the refs claiming you can't review a play thats been ruled down by contact (the Cribbs fumble) when in fact you CAN review that call. Bad calls happen. But not knowing the very rules of the game is simply inexcusable.

FSU-Clemson was the game of the year so far. Once clemson ran out of trick plays and was forced to play straight-up big boy football, we dominated them. Went on a 35-3 run in about a quarter of gametime. Our DL and OL just wore out their lines on both sides of the ball, and in the second half, we finally got consistent pressure on Taj "Dough" Boyd. Our OL then just started blowing holes open for the running game, and Wilder/Thompson ran roughshod through their D. I also think Clemson made some coaching mistakes in that they focused too much on getting Sammy Watkins the ball on trick plays instead of utilizing him as a true WR. He torched us last season, but was held to 6 catches for 24 yards, and i think 4 or 5 of his catches were on little flips or shovel type passes. In the end, it was nice to beat some clemson ass, and it was great to see Dabo get his ass handed to him. He's one of the most overrated coaches in Div I football. EJ Manuel finally stepped up and showed the player he can be. Did the light finally go on for him? I hope so. Thats 2 consecutive big games where he's stepped up in the clutch (the other was the bowl game vs ND). If he keeps improving like i think he can, then the sky's the limit. Its like i've been saying, he's at roughly the same number of starts where Ponder was when the light finally went on for him in running Jimbo's offense here. He's big, tall, can run the ball, and can make all the throws. He's got excellent accuracy in the short passing game, and a good feel for when to run. His feet are a weapon, and he's finally learned to get OOB or slide instead of taking a hit. But he's got the size to lower his head and get the extra yards when needed. The negatives about EJ have been the following, and i hope that since he didn't show these last night, he's on his way to fixing them. He tends to float mid range and deep passes. For some reason, he puts a lot of touch on those balls. Sometimes its needed, but sometimes you need to drill the ball in there. He's got the arm strengh, so i don't know why he does it. He's got to get better at feeling the pressure in the pocket. He can turn a broken play into nothing, but needs to work on feeling the pressure and sliding in the pocket to buy time. If he keeps improving, i think he's the ideal QB to run a Gailey spread offense.
