  1. I'd recommend toss a late round pick on FSU's Dustin Hopkins. He left FSU as the NCAAs all time leading scorer for Kickers, and with the most FGs made as a kicker. Here's his career stats. Kid's got a cannon for a leg too. His accuracy improved each season. He missed 5 XPs in his career, but 4 misses came in his first 2 games as a freshman. He then set an FSU and ACC record for consecutive XPs made. Fr yr: 19-27, 1-2 50+ Long:52 So: 22-28, 2-4 50+ Long: 55 Jr: 22-27, 1-3 50+ Long: 53 Sr:25-30, 5-6 50+ Long: 56 Finally, here's my favorite memory of him, especially since i was at this game. He hit the damn net with this kick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spefBglOlNA As an add-on, even though he's a hated rival, i'd have no problem with the Bills getting Caleb Sturgis from UF as well.
  2. Is this one of those really deep inside jokes that one person tells, no one laughs, and then he tells everyone else that THEY'RE the morons?
  3. The funniest part is that Chud has been fired by the Browns organization in the past...twice.
  4. Yes i'm a huge FSU fan, but i don't think EJ's anything more than a 4th-5th rounder. It's the same with Tajh. Him and EJ have some different strengths and weaknesses, but i consider them both relatively the same as pro prospects: ie mid to late round picks. Anyone "bummed" that Boyd isn't in the draft doesn't watch much college football. And in the Chick-fil-A bowl, he didn't exactly "shred" LSUs defense.
  5. Tajh Boyd is one of the most inaccurate QBs in the nation when he's on the move. There's a lot more than just height that's making him a low round draft pick.
  6. 'Bama is a great team. The rest of the conference is overrated. Hell of a showing by LSU and UF in their bowls. My point isn't that the SEC isn't good. It's that decent to good SEC teams are often vastly overrated in the polls due to the conference they play in.
  7. Just an example, (since i also brought up the natural, location based recruiting problems 'Cuse has in the Marrone thread). FSU recently got a commit who flipped from Alabama at the last second. He switched because he's from Jacksonville and wanted to be close to home so his mom could see him play. FSU is 2.5 hrs (drive) from Jacksonville, and Tuscaloosa is about 7 hrs away from jacksonville. Both are close by, but that extra distance made all the difference in the world. Also, do not underestimate the pull parents have on kids and where they're going. If mom says i want you near home, or at least playing for a school that will have road games near home, then the kid is not going to go far. In short, the location of 'Cuse plays a large role in why they cannot get lots of top tier recruits, thus limiting their ability to be ultra-competitive on a national scale.
  8. Since i've seen every game he's played, i'll have a write up on him soon. Long story short, he's got all the physical tools, but his game needs some refining. He's got a ton of that dreaded p-word, potential. I like him as a mid round pick. For buffalo, i'd like to see us take 2 Qbs with him being the second one taken.
  9. I know you jest, but Oregon was running a 5-1-5 in the Fiesta bowl to stop Collin Klein.
  10. College football has changed immensely since the late 90's. How exactly is Syracuse supposed to become a National Power (in short order), as in, consistent threat for a title, when they are: 1. Stuck in an area with poor to terrible recruiting base 2. Have garbage facilities compared to the real big boys 3. Were in an irrelevant conference 4. Had a program that wasn't much better than UB when Marrone took over The best Syracuse can hope for currently is 8-9 win seasons with a Big East title. Last i checked, they had two 8 win seasons in 4 under Marrone, and tied for the conference title this season. What more can you ask for?
  11. There's nothing to spin. Lets look back: 1. The Bills said they'd do an exhaustive coaching search: check 2. The Bills wanted someone with NFL coaching experience: check 3. The Bills wanted someone who had previous head coaching experience: check Seems to me that they interviewed a bunch of guys, and then moved on their decision to hire the best candidate they thought possible. And from everything that's being reported, he's one of the most sought after candidates of the off-season.
  12. Once again, anyone trotting out Marrone's record at Syracuse as a negative is completely ignorant of how major college football works, in regards to what goes into building a truly "elite" program. If you think that Doug Marrone should have and could have built Syracuse into a national powerhouse, then you really don't know anything about college ball. The problem isn't Marrone, its you guys.
  13. This is a shoutout to EJ Manuel, who became only the second collegiate QB ever to win 4 bowl games as a college QB (Pat White was the other). He went 4-0 in Bowls, with wins in the 2009 Gator Bowl, the 2010 Chick-Fil-A Bowl, the 2011 Champs Sports Bowl, and the 2012 Orange Bowl. Quite the accomplishment.
  14. Chip may be headed back to Oregon. Looks like he wants way too much control over everything for some NFL type to take. Or he's pulling a Harbaugh, and maybe has 1 or 2 ideal places that may pop open next year.
  15. Anyone bringing up Marrone's collegiate record and using it against him is completely ignorant of how college football works. And claiming he was hired simply because he's from cuse and was familiar with Brandon is just as ignorant.
  16. Their defense has much more to do with the Bengals resurgence as opposed to Dalton. He's merely average and really isn't an upgrade over Fitz.
  17. I know this request is like asking a bunch of 4 year olds to act like adults, but here goes. I'd like to see a higher level of discourse on the board, specifically relating to player analyses and breakdowns. There's entirely too many threads of posters simply saying "my guy is awesome and will be the franchise," and "your guy sucks," especially in relation to the QBs. If you'd like to do a reasonable write-up on a prospect that includes both the Pros and Cons to lead a discussion, that would be greatly appreciated and encouraged. I myself will be doing some write ups on some of the FSU draft eligible players in the next few weeks or so. It'd be great to frame the discussion with something like, "Why you SHOULD draft player X" and "Why you SHOULDN'T draft player X" in the same thread. For example, the thread on Chase Thomas is a great way to discuss a prospect and state why you like them so much. The poster was enthusiastic and included some potential negatives at the next level, and didn't force his opinion down everyone's throats. Conversely, the 65 Landry Jones threads are exactly the behavior I'd like to discourage around here. There's no framing or arguments, it's nothing more than raw emotion and "my guy's is better than yours" drivel. Thanks!
  18. Chip Kelly's offense is so gimmicky that belicheat met with him last summer and adopted some of kelly's tenets into his own offense this season.
  19. Perhaps you missed the multiple quotes from Whisenhunt where he said he felt he could work great with Brandon and Whaley, without a single mention of Nix. So a coaching candidate basically said Russ and Doug are running the show, yet you still refute this? It seems you're being contrarian just for the sake of being so.
  20. Yes. Horton has been mentioned as a hot HC candidate for a few weeks now.
  21. Whaley is a young up and comer. And he'll be in charge before too long. Probably right after the 2013 draft. Regarding the perceived talent on the team, how much is not lack of talent, but lack of development? Seeing former bills successful elsewhere smacks of not properly developing the talent drafted.
  22. Of course, this conveniently ignores the fact that the scouting department was completely revamped less than 2 years ago, with New directors and hires brought on. So it's actually not the same staff. But feel free to ignore the facts and continue on your petty little crusade.
  23. The team is now being run by a pair of 40-somethings instead of a 94 and 70 yr old. That alone puts them more in touch with the current NFL. It also shows more stability than before.
  24. Wait until she's out sick for the day, and the next day tell her you wore the tie but she missed it.
  25. What scares me the most is that every other team on that list has potential or identified coaching candidates to fill the vacancies...except for Buffalo. Whaley was hired from Pittsburgh a few years ago. He' s not the typical OBD insider, so it's not fair to label him as such.
