  1. Ah yes, I remember the importance of the timing belt. My ex had a Jetta TDI and we dropped $800 on the belt at around 90k mi. Are those Passats fun to drive at all, or are they a bit on the sterile side? I live near some really great mountains and stretches of road and I'd love a car I can just take up there and rock out. My last car (Protege) did everything I asked of it, but I want something with some bigger balls. My old Talon was nearly perfect, cause it got decent mileage and I could just open it up and FLY when I wanted to. That thing was so damn fast off the line that it would throw you back in the seat....just a cool damn car.
  2. I'm on it! I didn't even know Buick was still around
  3. Never heard of that car...I'll check it out though, thanks!
  4. Yeah, that's why I'd only go with the Eclipse if the 100k mi warranty was in place. My Talon had a couple issues when I owned it, but not to the degree that it was a deal breaker. It was pretty reliable until around 110k miles. I'll probably end up with a Mazda 3....loved my Protege, I just want to make sure I get somethign I'm excited about, too. I never cared much for how Camry's looked, but I saw one at work a few days ago and thought it was pretty sharp. It was a 2006, black (is there another color??) and a tan leather interior. Very sharp.
  5. Yeah, there are a few cars that are pretty much sure bets....obviously the Civic is one of them. I just want something I'm a little more excited about and that everyone and their mother isn't driving, you know? I think if I went with a Civic, I'd go for the Si..... I'm actually pretty excited to take a drive in the new Eclipse, though. The only knocks I've heard about the new ones (redesigned in 2006) is their 1) visibility, 2) turning radius, and 3) back seat comfort. My Talon had all three issues too, though, and they didn't bother me. Only one who will be in my back seat is the mutt, and he's not much of a complainer Supposedly the front seats have a 10/10 rating for comfort, the styling is very slick, and I THINK they still have a 100,000mi warranty. So my short list as of today is (in no particular order): VW GTi, Civic Si, Mitsu Eclipse, Mazda 3, Toyota Camry, Scion tC
  6. Who played at RG today? Preston?
  7. That's what I've always heard too, which is why I stayed away.....I was starting to think maybe that was an issue of the past, though, with all I've been reading lately. Are you guys still hearing this about the current/recent models?
  8. I've always wanted to buy a VW, but the last two times I've been in the market for a car (I keep my cars a long time) I couldn't find a VW offering that had a good balance of value, performance, and reliability. A few years ago my ex-wife's Jetta was acting up and we took it to get repaired. They gave us a Golf as a rental, and when I heard about that I started making fun of it. Once I actually sat in it and drove it, it wasn't so funny anymore. I thought it was actually a pretty cool car. Well, to make a long story short, I'm goign to be buying a new car in January and the VW GTi has dropped onto my radar. The Jetta has a trim level that is a bit more sporty and performance minded....the Passat looks nice, but I don't really want a "family car"....but the GTi looks (on paper) to be the right combination of what I want. I really don't want to go over 20k, so this is pushing my budget to the limit, but I want a car I'm excited about. Any of you guys driving a newer (say, 2004+) VW?? If so, what do you think of it? Ps. I'm also considering a Mitsubishi Eclipse. I bought a 1990 Eagle Talon (turbo) back in '93 and it was easily the most fun car I've ever driven/owned. I'd love to hear feedback on this vehicle, too.
  9. I bet I know who wasn't at the game today!
  10. I'm glad you and I aren't coaching this team....I thought they should have gone for it, too
  11. something wrong with nfl.com.....it just says Peerless caught a TD pass from JP YEAH, RIGHT!!!!!!
  12. I thought it was just a pipe dream when they first started talking about this beast of a TE they picked up as an undrafted FA moving to the O-line.....but by God, the kid is actually doing it. That is pretty amazing!
  13. Why you hackin' on Peters?? If completes the transition to LT, he's one of the most significant signings in our team's history!
  14. For those who don't know the woman we're talking about..... http://www.cassiel.net/Galleries3/Singers_..._Mendes-700.jpg http://sorenz.dk/Film%202004/Eva%20Mendes.JPG Wow! That's awesome! Sounds like she was as cool in person as I imagined she probably was The only times I've ever seen her as herself were when she's been on shows like Leno or Conan. She alwasy comes off as a really easy going, friendly woman. Your story makes me like her even more
  15. I don't WANT to remember who we played in the first nine games last year, but we've had some pretty tough opponents this season. Pats twice, Colts, Bears...a newly inspired Jets team....that's pretty tough for a team that had this much turnover. Record aside, no way would I trade this team for that crap fest we had last year. I'm a little disappointed that we're not moving the ball better, but I like the direction we're goign in. I fully support building a dominant defense as the strength of the team. I was very surprised that our D did as well as they did in the Colts game, and I think they're only goign to get better. Ko Simpson is starting to make more plays, Crowell and Fletch are playing well, Ellison is a nice surprise, Whitner is having a solid rookie season, Youboty is about to get some playing time, etc, etc, etc. I think next year our defense will be one of the youngest AND one of the best in the NFL. But last season was so horrendous that I exiled myself to the "off the wall" forum for several months after it was over.....that was unbearable!
  16. We have similar taste in women, my friend....Eva is definitely one of my favorite hotties
  17. The way Angle explained it wasn't that Vince said his medal didn't mean jack "in the WWE". Angle said it as though VM was totally disregarding what he accomplished. I agree about all the gimmicks and drama....that's why I only take ten mins to FF through the recordings What keeps me still moderately interested in wrestling is the psychology and strategy behind getting someone over. VM and the WWE are masters at "creating" stars. It's pretty rare that a superstar just shows up. Time and time again they have taken someone who was an "average" personna elsewhere and turned him into a superstar. How many WWE guys have gone on to star in movies, for gosh sakes?? Granted, most of them are crap, but the point is that these guy are reaching a certain level of popularity that makes them viable as a marketable film star. VM is a brilliant when it comes to business and marketing.
  18. That's not quite right, actually. Turner was bought out by Time Warner, and Time Warner made the decision to sell to Vince. My understanding is that Turner was pissed over the whole thing, particularly when VM bought the WCW tape library for what basically amouts to peanuts. That's why you see so many compliation videos coming out now, cause WWE has tons of footage from a much larger majority of a wrestler's past and can make a much more comprehensive prgram. But both of these transactions were out of Turner's hands.
  19. I'm going to renew my JP Losman Bandwagon card for a couple more weeks if Jauron is saying that he's going to turn him loose. I know JP can make things happen with his legs, particularly when he rolls out and throws on the run. If he's goign to be allowed to play his natural game, then I want to give him a couple more games before I really start thinking he's not gonna make it.
  20. Why do these stations have to play it all the damn time? Can't it be like every other song, or maybe every third song, or a couple times an hour....I can't stand non-stop Christmas music.
  21. I haven't been excited to see a Bond film since I saw "Moonraker" as a kid. I'm excited to see this one. They finally gave Bond some balls!!
