Wow, it's always good to hear someone mention Life is Beautiful. That's #1 on my all time list of movies, and it always will be. In fact, the last three women I've dated had to pass a simple test: 'What is the movie "Life is Beautiful" about? The reason I ask that is because when I saw the film in the theater back in '99, I connected with it in such a way that I felt I understood every single bit of it. I felt like if I could ever make a film about this topic (and by that I don't mean WWII or the Holocaust), it would be exactly like what Benigni did with this one. But one thing I noticed when I saw it with others in the theater was laughing at inappropriate times. It wasn't that nervous laughter some folks do when they are uncomfortable....it was clearly the type of "haha, that's funny" laughter during moments of the film where it basically showed they weren't 'getting it'. Anyway, I don't mean to distract from the 'Marshall' talk....I am really looking forward to seeing that film....you just give the impression that you "got" Life is Beautiuful, and that's a great thing

Girl Suing Marcus Vick for $6.3 Million
ajzepp replied to Tux of Borg's topic in Off the Wall Archives
You know what? If an UDFA TE can become a stud left tackle in the NFL, anything is possible, IMO. My understanding is that Marcus has just taken things for granted when it comes to his talent and the NFL. If he ever gets a reality check, he's probably got enough raw physical talent that someone will develop him into a player. If not, then he'll go the way of guys like Maurice Clarett and L.Phillips, IMO. -

Girl Suing Marcus Vick for $6.3 Million
ajzepp replied to Tux of Borg's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Of course it is... The family has probably viewed this a their big break, so they've sat on the issue until Marcus made his millions, and then they would file the suit. An attorney who wants free nationwide exposure would take the case for free, and the girl and her family would sue for millions but be happy with hundreds of thousands. The problem is that Marcus is a loser....so obviouly the family has now realized that they better just get what they can now before this guy goes and rapes a squad of cheerleaders and they lose their shot. Even if there is some settlement to keep things out of court, it's free money to them....why not take it? Of course, I could be wrong. -
I'm so thankful that we had a period where our beloved football team was badass. Sure, would have been nice to win the big one, but that's beside the point. From making it all the way to the AFC Champ game in '88 to the last SB game in '93, it was one helluva run.

I tend to enjoy MM's films more often than not. I think EdTV is one of the most underrated films of all time. Even though Jenna Elfman went from hottie to wackjob over the past several years, she was good in the film. Woody Harrelson was a riot, too. I can't wait to see 'Marshall'....we need more movies about sports! I know thi one centers on a tragedy, but we still need more good movies about sports!

What is the movie you absolutely hate...
ajzepp replied to Tux of Borg's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The only two parts I enjoyed were JUST after the 'info gathering' phase ended, and just before they went into the woods. I was pretty high on anticipation. Then after that, the only part that really freaked me out was at the very end. I won't describe the scene since some may not have seen it, but the last scene i thought was very effective. The only problem was that it was the last scene, lol. -
That's a great memory! I had a similar one with my bro, though with us it pertained to the debut of the 'Thriller' video. It came on sometime around 10p, and we had to stay in bed. I was around 10 and my bro was about 6. We were visiting our grandmother at the time, and the room we were sleeping in was upstairs. There was a small landing at the tp of the stairs that gave us just enough of a view of the tv that we could sneak out and see what was going on. The only problem was that we couldn't see when anyone was coming - we could only hear them. We damn near got caught, but overall a pretty successful mission

Right....it's got a plot and it allows you to believe that the writers really did intend to entertain you. -
I've actually been meaning to ask the question for a while, but the thread about the best/worst moments in history reminded me to actually get around to posing the question. It's one of our great comeback games, but thread after thread goes by w/out nary a mention. I was just curious as to why.

Oh, faces of death disturbed me for days after seeing it....I know there was a lot of talk that much of it was fake, but it sure looked real to me. I get sick just thinking about it.... Saw actually had a method to it's madness. It's been a while since I've seen it, but the main character behind the scenes is very ill, and thus he finds people who are otherwise healthy, but go about their life not appreciating their circumstances. He essentially puts them in positions to 'fight for their life' in order to wake them up and appreciate the fact that they are alive. Yes, he's also crazy, and a sick bastard. But my point is that there is at least some sort of depth and motive to the character....it's not just some mindless slasher flick that makes no sense and has no plot. I'm not saying you'd enjoy it, but it's better than a lot of other offerings from the horror genre. Sure as hell better than 'The Grudge'!!!!! (sorry, Fez lol) -
Those were the days....I went to a Bills MNF game against the Bengals back in '91....it was awesome

If you do make the transfer, please let me know....I'd love to get a copy from you if possible Frank Reich was the greatest backup QB in history....i swear lol

How can you vote for a movie you've never even seen? lol The first Saw film was relatively clever, IMO. Part of why I get frustrated with the horror genre is that they often times make me feel as though they are insulting my intelligence. I didn't feel that Saw did that. I felt like they made a sincere effort to freak me out, and I felt it was a pretty good film. The second one? Eh, not so much....not terrible, but I started to get that "let's hurry up and put out another one so we can make even MORE money!" type of feeling. -
I can't say I remember many details either, but I know the ending was awesome
-
I don't remember if it was '88 or '89, but we had a game on MNF against the Rams that was just awesome. I remember staying up late to watch it (I was in HS), and I know it involved us coming back to win. The LA QB was Jim Everett and IIRC they were having a pretty good year. We were obviously on the upswing, and it ended up being a great game. I know a buddy of mine and I used to always talk about it back in the day, but seems like nobody on here ever mentions it. Any of you guys remember that night?

Wow, some of these choices really shock me. Pulp Fiction was one of the two or three films that I watched twice in a row, back to back. I watched it once in the afternoon on a day off from work, and then the minute my ex girlfriend got home I watched it again....loved that flick.
