  1. I did that for a while....benefits sucked.
  2. LOL He must have had a thing in his ear with Rosenhaus on the other end....
  3. Fez is VERY funny..... ....looking!
  4. Insightful doesn't necessarily equate to entertaining, which, last I checked, was the point of comedy....no? So what you may find insightfully humorous, others may find insightfully unengaging. So I disagree that it's not a matter of opinion.
  5. My thoughts exactly. sh-- or get off the pot with this guy, already.
  6. Well, that may very well be, but these ideas aren't mutually exclusive. I think the bottom line with all this stuff is obviously money. But how many people do you know who can tell you the actors who have played Danny and Sandy in the broadway version? When this show is over, there will be MILLIONS of people who will know them by name. Grease is one of my favorite movies/musicals of all time, but I had no idea that John Secada played Danny until recently. I know Sam Harris was in one of the versions, but not sure if he played Danny or someone else. I dunno, I just think the visibility of the next Danny and Sandy is going to be HUGE because of this show. It'll be interesting to see how that translates into broadway success.
  7. Yeah, having sex with God is pretty much an accepted truth according to those crazy Mormons, right? Don't they believe that God literally had sex with Mary, or something along those lines?
  8. I think the reason I don't find her all that funny is because I get the feeling she's relying on "shock value" to compensate for a lack of talent. It's kind of the same thing with Rosie O'Donnell....she's not really able to be funny in general, so she has to be controversial to keep herself in the spotlight. Just my take....
  9. This is probably the weakest season so far, though a few of them have some potential still. Now that we're down to the final 12, I think the shows will get better. There wasn't enough talent this year to cover 24 people singing each week, but with probably two exceptions, the final 12 are pretty good. I still can't believe Sundance got sent home.....I really felt like that guy had something. I think Phil Stacey has the most potential on the guys side, followed by Blake Lewis. On the girls side I really like Jordin Sparks....I think she's got it all, she just needs to have someone help bring out her full potential. Lakesha and Melinda are in a different league, though I can't really get excited about either one.
  10. I just saw that, too....I think it was shown during her stand up routine that's on one of the movie channels this month, right? I actually don't find her all that funny, but I do find her adorably cute and very attractive, so I watch nonetheless.
  11. Wow, I couldn't disagree more. The brilliance of American Idol is that it creates the fan base BEFORE the records come out, not the other way around. People get to know the contestants week in and week out, to the point where they are already fans before the singer has set foot in a recording studio. Why do you think a show like that Grease one on NBC even came about? They are following the AI model in hopes that they'll already have a Danny and a Sandy who are loved by the audience, so when the show opens up there is already a fair amt of recognition. It's pretty smart business.
  12. Dude, get over it. It's the sixth damn season and the show has left a trail of grammys, multi-platinum albums, broadway shows, and now an Oscar. It's as legit as talent competitions get.
  13. Well, my interest in the show just took a hit today.....how the FUG did that skinny little no-talent bastage get in the top 12??? Ridiculous.....
  14. Wasn't it pretty clear after season ONE that to have all this stuff happen w/in a supposed 24-hr period was a prett ridiculous premise to begin with? lol I understand the argument that one season is better or worse than another, but to be mentioning how over the top the show is at this point is a bit silly, IMO
  15. I'm pretty sure the point being made was simply that the guy gets things done - not to make the comparison you're suggesting.
  16. Some of you guys need to remember that this show is in season SIX. The fact that it's over the top and unrealistic is well-established by now, so if you're still watching it then chances are you LIKE that sort of thing. Quit whining about how over the top it is, and just allow yourself to be entertained for gosh sakes....that's the ONLY point of the show's existence, and for most of us that is plenty good.
  17. Thanks, mark! Some pretty interesting offerings there, actually. It takes a pretty girl to get me to actually go to the theater nowadays, so most of these will end up on my Netflix queue....but I have to say it looks like a really strong month! Will Ferrell is up there with Steve Carell in the "can do no wrong" category for me, so I can't wait to see the Blades of Glory flick. Something tells me it will be even funnier than the previews. I'm completely fascinated by '300'....REALLY looking forward to that one. I'm also a big fan of Chris Rock, so I"m glad to see him with a big screen project again....seems like he's not around as often as he should be. I enjoy his combination of wit, satire, and (a touch of) potty humor. Not a bad month!
  18. Nerds make the world go 'round....God bless 'em!
  19. How is stating what someone is known for a comparison of Holocaust victims to poker players?
  20. Is he? Damn that Steve....he never even mentioned it! Told me he was about to sign the Flaming Lips, but didn't mention Amos coming back.
  21. I've mentioned this guy a few times over the past year, so hopefully some of you have given his stuff a listen. Lanak6 and I saw him perform this song live in Atlanta last October, but it won't be released until his next album comes out. Enjoy! "Truth"
