I hear ya, but look how much money we have tied up in the Oline. Granted, we NEED a kick ass line, but I just don't think we should expect to have a solid back-up...at least not yet. We're lucky to just have a starting Oline that is almost solid...

Are you talking to yourself? -
We're not going to be able to fill every single need we have on this team, guys. Kirk Chambers is probably as good of a back-up as we can hope for right now. If J.Peters goes down, then Trent will just need to learn to get rid of the ball quicker.

Other teams are going to be having the pre-snap ***** when they see how badasss our defense is going to be this year!

I think the REAL issue is that hockey fans have an inferiority complex, cause every time a soccer discussion starts up, the hockey fans feel the need to start peeing on fire hydrants. I actually think you missed Hardy's point....you may understand and "get" soccer, but that's a whole lot different than appreciating it. I had the same experience as he did with golf...once I started playing it I began watching it more on television and enjoying it more. As for the "myth" thing, the fact that soccer is the most accessible sport on earth is a GREAT thing! You know what's even more accessible than soccer? Hop scotch. By your theory, something like hop scotch should be the most popular sport in the world simply because it's more accessible. Soccer is a great game because it's a great game. The fact that anyone can do it, and from a very young age, is awesome for the health of the sport. But the accessibility thing alone is not why it's so huge. -
It's definitely more the experience that rocks than the movie itself. Anyone who has a decent subwoofer should really enjoy this movie

Even those of us who love soccer will admit that this will never happen. I don't even know that I WANT it to happen. I'm not sure why people think that soccer and football (or hockey, or whatever else) are mutually exclusive. Soccer doesn't HAVE to be bigger than the NFL to be a success. It can function just fine as it is, even if it never grew any more than it already has. The real soccer fans in the US are plentiful enough to still have every match of the World Cup broadcast, to have a little time on ESPN every now and again, to have the UEFA Champs League final broadcast live on ESPN 2, and probably even maintain the MLS as it is now. That, in itself, is success. I think we can do better, though, and it will grow to be bigger than it is now, for sure...but it'll never be the NFL, and I'm perfectly fine with that. -

I can take it... I think part of it is the fact that Kordell and I are the same age, so when I heard him talking about how committed he was and how much he's hoping for another shot, I found myself rooting for him a little. I think 35 is a more transitional age than people give it credit for...I felt pretty good at 30, but I think 35 is when you really start to notice some changes in your physical prowess. I know there's things in my life I wish I'd done better when I was younger, so it's hard for me to not want to see Kordell have one more shot at NFL glory, too. Could be the beer talking, though -
My vote goes to Derrek Fine. I think he'll turn into a very nice receiving threat for us, and he'll come up with a few clutch plays throughout the season

Well said, ax... Fact is, even the MLS guys will tell you (meaning the owners, not the players) that the MLS clubs couldn't compete with the Euro clubs. But the talent will rise with time, and thus the quality of games will improve. Also, one of the best aspects of the game from a fan's standpoint (IMO) is that the games are typically finished in two hours. I don't usually mind investing three hours of my time into an NFL game, but for a baseball game? Give me a break...I'm not going to sit there for three, three and a half hours to watch baseball. -

People said the same thing about Tommy Maddox a few years ago...and he was never as good as Kordell to begin with! -

Okay, well when someone ELSE signs Kordell and he leads his team to victory when the starter goes down, don't come crying to me! -

Most games will have more than five total shots on goal, but there is so much more to the game than just the scoring. -

Hey, there's room enough for all of 'em, baby!! I love soccer, but I love other sports, too. I want to see it all Soccer is the world's common sports language...you can step foot on six out of the seven continents and probably find a pick-up game within the first thirty minutes. It's the game that doesn't discriminate, and it's available to anyone and everyone in the world. I love that aspect of the game, and I love when the World Cup brings us all together every four years to celebrate its awesomeness -
Awesome interview...I like this kid, and I agree with you guys about his "family" comments. I hope that we give him some huge pops when he hits the turf at the Ralph. Welcome to the family, James!

lol, Maybe I'm just a sucker for an underdog, but the guy was really convincing during his radio time. I just feel that whenever you are bringing along a young QB, you need a veteran mentor behind him. I also think this team has the potential to compete this year, so it would be nice to have an experienced guy in that role in case we need him later in the season. I dunno, like I said, I've always been against the idea cause I've never really been a KS fan...but he did a good job of convincing me that he's worthy of a look. -

Pass on KS, or pass on someone other than JP being the backup? -
You know who I'd like to see us bring in for a look, even though I've usually been against the idea in the past? Kordell Stewart. He apparently lives down here in Atlanta, and he's been on my favorite Atlanta sports radio station a couple of times. Says he's in great shape for a 35 year old and really wants to play again. I like JP, but I'd rather have a more veteran guy backing up Edwards, and I wouldn't mind seeing KS in that role. Go ahead, flame away!

I hope we land up with a TE like this.
