July Movies: Lone Ranger, Wolverine, & Pacific Rim.....
ajzepp replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm just thankful that Shia LeBouf isn't in it... I was hoping to see it Sunday night but didn't get a chance...going to hit the IMAX tomorrow hopefully. -
damn work filter...

I really hope so...I was optimistic when Deb started freaking out at the station, but then it all calmed down again. My fear is that we're going to start getting filler scenes between Deb and her boss...nobody needs that. Time is running short...let's get this party rollin!

I was sort of hoping that the entire structure of this season would be different, but so far that's not really the case. I don't care about Dex trying to figure out who is out there killing people...I want to start seeing the proverbial sh*t hit the fan in terms of his fate. We're already 1/3 of the way into this season....let's get it on!!!

Yep, MP3 sounds very good...I can listen to basically anything when I'm out and about.

Yeah, he was...I just get a kick out of the guy even though you can go on youtube and see exactly how he does his act. It reminds me of when the Zooperstars were on the show. I think I was one of a select few who just LOVED these things...I laughed hysterically every time they hit the stage. But after the third or fourth performance, I was pretty much alone in that sentiment lol.

LOL, dang, you shold have taken some pics of that bad boy for Lana! I hate those things...I often end up having to fry one off my dog...amazing how they can burrow in like that.

Understandable. You know, I think simplicity can go a long way, but when someone as artistic as Bernie Taupin and Elton John get hold of some inspiration (e.g. the death of John Lennon), they are able to articulate emotions such as grief and loss in such a manner that can really affect us on a much deeper level. I have always had a very emotional reaction to the Jeff Buckley version of "Hallelujah"...Leonard Cohen wrote such beautiful words and music, but Buckely's vocals take it to a whole other level. I just don't ever react like that to songs that are maybe a bit more simplistic in their structure or verse. I dunno, I have a feeling you understand what I'm saying here, even if I'm not doing a very good job lol.

I really think we need to expect an "oops" comign up soon. They've been on a nice streak here, but in order to take another step forward they're likely going to need to stumble, dust themselves off, and then come out ahead in terms of their growth as a team. It's a pattern that most teams on the rise will go through and I'm just preparing for it now lol. I'm just glad that Klinsi didn't give in to all the BS that some people - some very hasty, negative people - were dishing out. Those of us who understand the stark differences between American soccer and the soccer that the best clubs/countries in the world play knew this wouldn't be some quick fix. This isn't bringing Bill Parcells or Nick Saban in to right the ship and start winning championships. We need an entire uprooting of our soccer culture and we need to plant some seeds that will take hold over the long term. That's exactly what I saw in the El Salvador match and in some of these more recent matches...the very early signs of some new roots taking hold. Hell, the game of soccer itself is rooted in patience, and that's what we need with our USMNT...and to a lesser extent, the MLS.

Wow lol...I love this whole cloud thing. I can't wait until higher rez (even just CD quality) tracks are available...I can't really tell the difference between lossless and lossy MP3 tracks when I'm listening on my iPhone anyway, so this works great...but will be nice when I can upload my entire lossless library into a cloud since my home audio gear is a bit more resolving.

Probably many of you already knew about this, but Amazon just went WAY above and beyond the call of duty. I've purchased a few MP3s off Amazon here and there, and whenever I do it just loads into the cloud player and then I download it into my iTunes software. Well, I was bored and slacking at work tonight, so I started playing around with different apps for my iPhone. I saw that I hadn't downloaded the Amazon Cloud Player app yet, so I went ahead and fired it up. At first I wasn't sure what was going on, cause there were a LOT of artists listed and I know that I haven't bought THAT many MP3s over the years.I start scrolling through the artist list and then it hits me what has happened....Amazon has taken not only every MP3 that I've purchased, but every CD that I've purchased, too, and added the MP3 versions of ALL of it to my cloud drive. So without me even lifting a finger, Amazon has catalogued over 2300 tracks, including tracks from CDs that I purchased long before there was even a cloud drive available. That's over 1/4 of my entire music library that Amazon has put in the cloud for me. What sort of awesomeness is this??

Beasley is definitely predisposed to boneheadedness, but I honestly never truly appreciated his speed until this last match against El Salvador. The dude was just FLYING. And yeah, the depth we're developing is phenomenal...combine that with Klinsmann's brilliant soccer mind and you have the ingredients for a very dangerous team in Brazil next year. Can't wait for tomorrow night!!

One of my favorite songs of all time...I remember the first time I heard it back in the early 90s...I tried so hard to find it, but it seemed that NONE of his compilation albums included it. Just a beautiful song inspired by John Lennon.

Apparently the judges and half the crowd don't understand and appreciate the genius that is Special Head...it's a sad day for America. I guess they'd rather spend their nights watching the butt brothers...
-
Wow, you guys are really going above and beyond...most of these suggestions are completely new to me, so this is really great. I still can't get over how good some of the youtube vids sound with headphones...they've really done a great job with their audio.
-
Yep, that's the one thing that Klinsmann can't remedy immediately - the talent level. He can put together the best group of players that will be able to thrive within his system, but it's going to take a while for us to cultivate players who are naturally more talented. But we can get a whole lot more mileage out of the talent we do have with Klinsi in charge than we could with Bradley or even Arena.

Dang, what the hell? I thought this project was actually filming soon...was really looking forward to this. -
Took me a second, but now that I got it I've been thrown back into full withdrawal

Sooner or later we're going to have a let down game, which will probably be a good thing since we need occasional opportunities for growth (lol), but I'd be surprised if it came in these next two matches. The scene in Cowboys stadium on Wed is going to be epic!!

I'm convinced that we're in the process of turning the corner under Klinsmann now...aside from a need to finish better, this team is playing completely differently than they were two years ago. I've never seen this team create opportunities as they have been these last several matches. We have some depth, we're playing solid team ball, we're anticipating well, and at times we're absolutely dominating. If there are any more of these idiots who are critical of the way Klinsi is doing things, they can be shown the door...this train has left the station and we're on the way to legitimacy on the world stage. No more of these inflated "4th best in the world" jokes of a rating...we're on the way to being a REAL threat. Still a long way to go, and I'm not saying we're on par with the Italians, Germans, Spanish, or Brazilians, but we're on the way to being in the conversation. I love that they didn't let up today against El Salvador. They did exactly what those teams I mentioned above would do - they played a full 90 and they played their game until the final whistle. We'll take out either Costa Rica or Honduras on 7/24 and face Mexico in the Gold Cup finals. The two best teams in this conference, just as it should be, and I'm confident that we'll come out on top.

Oh okay...that's a bummer. WKRP is my favorite comedy of all-time. Would love to re-watch every one of those episodes.

I still remember when Ghostbusters came on the radio...back then I would have the local pop station on with a cassette tape loaded an ready to go, and as soon as I heard the opening few notes I would rush over to push "play+record"...good times.
