I will be the first to admit that I've always found most styles of dancing very boring and kind of gay. I enjoyed watching break dancing back in the 80s, and there are times when I enjoy hip-hop routines. But ballroom, broadway, etc. just never did anything for me. I watch So You Think You Can Dance from time to time, and there have been some times when I felt like I sort of "got it". I started listening to the choreographers talk about their motivation when they put a piece together, and I began to understand more about how the dancers convey the meaning through their movements. Anyway, last night they had a routine about breast cancer, and it really moved me. This disease took my mom from me two years ago, so the concept hits very close to home already...but I think this is the sort of thing that can really touch people and, as one of the judges said, really affect people without a single word. So anyway, here is the routine for anyone who would like to see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_TCK5OCgss

haven't yet, but very interested in both. Will probably wait for the DVD release. Moon looked especially good, though I've also read some pretty glowing reviews on Hurt Locker. I get more excited about films like this than I do the big ones!

That would be badass!

I think the garbage is getting worse too, Dean. Thank God the cost of making indy films has spurred such massive growth...if not for all the lesser known gems out there (and there are a lot of them these days), my love of film would really be suffering.

"I think another reason I called it Predators was to mark it as a project that should be taken seriously by a filmmaker to make a worthy follow up to a classic, much in the way Cameron made Aliens a compelling work on its own, following Ridley Scott's Alien." If it's half as good as Aliens, I'll be happy.

Grindhouse didn't make a lot of money in the theater, but it was received pretty well critically. It's funny, cause I know people who were bored to tears by the dialogue-driven bar scenes in Death Proof. I, on the other hand, was completely glued to the screen waiting to see what they were going to say or do next. That's why I love Tarantino's work....I never know what's going to happen, and he has a good feel for what makes someone (or something) "cool", and what doesn't. I have a short list of actors and directors where I'll see anything they do, no matter how good or bad I think the previews look. Tarantino's stuff is something I will always look forward to, cause if nothing else, I know I'm going to see something non-formulaic, interesting, and unpredictable.

Darn right! From what I hear, the Rhinos are VERY well supported and Rochester could very easily support an MLS franchise.

What I got from the article was that apparently black married couples have a helluva time finding a cleaning lady.

Finally got around to seeing some highlights....Beckerman's goal was a thing of beauty! It's pretty tough to keep the ball down on a shot like that, and he struck it perfectly. Goalie barely moved before the thing was in the back of the net. Seems like we had a couple of nice looks, actually. And man, what's with that Panama defender nailing our guy (Cooper, was it?) with the flying karate kick to the balls inside the box? That HAD to have hurt like a biatch!

My bad....I was too tired to detect the target of your sarcasm....well done

Before I knew who was talking, one of the first things I heard him say was, "I lived in Buffalo for eight years, so I think I'm in a pretty good position to offer insight on the fan base". I was like, "oh great, sure you are....this should be interesting." But the guy nailed it. It was also interesting to hear him say that he spoke with Thurman Thomas and Thurman actually feels that TO coming to town will have a bigger impact on the city in the short term than Jim Kelly did back in '86.

Don't hate. I've been listening to people who were supposedly covering the AFC east for years. What I heard today was totally different. This guy came with facts, perspective, analysis, etc. I learned more about what the Bills are up agaisnt this season in ten minutes than I ever did listening to any of the other beat writers.

I was driving home from work a couple of hours ago and happened to catch Tim Graham on the John Kincade show on ESPN. I know Kincade pretty well from his afternoon show here in the ATL, and it was pretty clear to me that I wasn't the only one impressed with Mr. Graham. I have never heard anyone give such an in-depth, detailed, on the money overview of the AFC East and the Bills. Tim was rattling off point after point for each team in the division, citing each club's additions and losses this past offseason, discussing not only the TO impact on the Bills but also articulating perfectly the way our fan base sees the TO signing, talking about the Jets hiring of Rex Ryan and how he sees them approaching the season with a rookie QB....etc, etc, etc. This was by far and away the most informative and interesting synopsis of the division I've ever heard. Kudos to you, Mr. Graham....you are an asset to ESPN, and a fantastic resource for all of us fans. I will be paying closer attention to your reporting and insights from now on!

I agree, I've been looking forward to "Basterds" since I first heard about the project. I have a hard time not being pretty intrigued by just about everything Tarantino gets his hands on. To me, the guy is one of the purest filmmakers on earth, and you just never know what to expect from his stuff. I remember the first time I saw Pulp Fiction, I re-wound the damn thing and watched it a second time on the spot. I never expect his new stuff to equal that experience, but I look forward to everything he puts out.

A lot of people felt that the previews were the best part of the Tarantino/Rodgrigez "Grindhouse" feature a couple of years ago....I loved everything to do with that project, and I can't wait to see this one come to fruition! Danny Trejo rules! http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/16770

I wish they would have given Rochester a team the last time they expanded. Rochester is a fantastic market for soccer, and there is already a stadium in place for an MLS team. I enjoy watching the games from time to time, especially during the time the other leagues are in offseason. I wish I had an MLS team to latch on to....

You always give me the warm fuzzies, AD. Looks like Prima Donovan and Beckham are destined for failure: http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives...ctory.html#more Wow, I like this guy better already! ""It's not often that soccer is on the front of people's minds in this country and right now it seems to be. Not necessarily for the right reasons for the last couple of weeks, but people are talking about it and that's good." -Prima Donovan He may be full of himself, but he makes sense!

I totally agree that AMERICAN kickball will never be anything more than a fringe sport in America. However, I believe that the American fan base for INTERNATIONAL kickball will continue to grow as fast or faster than it is now. ESPN is very pro-Champions League, pro-World Cup, etc. They are expanding their coverage abroad, and it's going to continue to expand here, as well. Americans want to see the best of the best, and the more familiar they become with the best players in the world, they more they'll want to see them play on tv. Ratings for international soccer in America are higher than they've ever been before, and it's a trend that's been ongoing for years now. MLS may be completely gone in five or ten years, but the American soccer fan will be stronger than ever, baby!

I haven't been paying as much attention to MLS as I have the national team lately....this whole "he's a sh------- teammate" thing is new to me. I'll have to read more about this, cause aside from donovan's quotes, I haven't heard others making a big deal about it.
-
"Especially when he's brought all this on us." That's the line that sticks out to me the most. Beckham didn't bring this on them, the MLS people did. What idiot would turn down 250 million dollars to play in a fledgling soccer league when he was past his prime? We just see Donovan differently, man. Yeah, he's had a few moments here and there, but I don't see him as a game changing presence against the top international teams at all. Portugal was looking past us in 2002...didn't take us seriously at all and they paid for it. He had a nice goal against Brazil, but I'm over it. There have just been too many big games where I was waiting for him to be a difference maker and he wasn't. Maybe he'll change my mind yet, I dunno....but I'm not a fan.
-
There's nothing to defend....I'm of the believe that ALL press is good press, and if I'm a player in MLS and I have option 1 as "business as usual", and option 2 as "over the hill international phenom shining light on my league", I'm going to take option 2 every day of the week and twice on Sunday. MLS is more KNOWN today than it was before Beckham...there's simply no disputing that fact. Beckham is to MLS what Pele was to the NASL, with the difference being that the MLS is run by people who actually have some sort of business sense.
-
Even among Bills players, I think there are those who would be considered T.O.'s peers. The gap in talent between TO and Evans, or Marshawn, or one of our other top guys isn't much at all compared to the gap between Beckham and the rest of the MLS. Most people can't name a single other MLS player aside from Beckham. I'm not saying his TALENT level is any greater than some of the better MLS players, particularly at his age, but the guy is an attention magnet and an international superstar. He brings a great big spotlight and shines it on this obscure little soccer league that lots of people didn't even know existed, and he gives it a chance to be embraced to a much greater degree than if he'd never signed with an MLS team. Beckham is by far the biggest deal in MLS, ever. TO is the biggest deal on the Bills since we signed Bledsoe, but I don't know that his presence is doing much for the NFL as a whole anymore.

I've never seen Beckham be anything but humble with regard to coming to the US and having the opportunity to play in the MLS. How is it that he's acting like a jackass? Or were you talking about Donovan Do you realize how much attention the MLS received before Beckham even played a GAME for the Galaxy? I remember watching the game on ESPN (or was it ABC?) where he was supposed to get at least a few minutes playing time....there were celebrities at the stadium, media everywhere, people were talking about it at work, etc. As they say, the rising tide brings all ships to the top...if I were in their position, I'd be thrilled that the league I was playing in was all of a sudden receivign so much attention, and most likely gaining new fans in the process. As for credit due Donovan, I'll give him credit when he does something significant in a meaningful game on the world stage. I don't care how good he is in MLS....more often than not he becomes a non-factor against international competition and aside from a game here and there, I've never been impressed with him anywhere near the degree that he's impressed with himself.
