Be careful what you wish for, Bills fans

The Carucci article gave me pause, too, although Martyball is my first choice anyway. -
I can always tell when I've seen something special, cause it stays on my mind the rest of the day (and sometimes well beyond that).

Hope you enjoy it!

This was really unexpected, but as I posted in another thread or two, one of the coolest things about having just bought an xbox is the ability to stream movies from Netflix instantly to my HT. Over the past week or so, I've been browsing what's available (and it's a LOT), and have come to the conclusion that it's a real blessing that new releases are one of the few categories of films not available yet via streaming. As a result, I have found myself looking into films that I typically wouldn't rent via the mail - mainly documentaries. This morning I just finished watching "Man on a Wire". It's the story of Frenchman Philipe Petite and his dream to wire walk the space between the Twin Towers. This was a really, really moving film and I highly recommend it to all you guys. I can't begin to tell you how emotionally affected I was by this film, and in completely different ways. In the beginning, it was actual footage of the construction of the North and South towers back in 1970 that really had me welling up. If you can watch that footage and not be affected by it, you're just not human. I was watching what I thought was ground zero, and thinking to myself, why does this footage look so old?? Then it hit me as to why. Contrast the sadness of the WTC tragedy with the lifelong dreams of a real life Don Quixote, and you end up being on quite the emotional roller coaster. Anyway, I hope some of you guys will check it out. It's a fantastic story.

Just saw the clip online...I couldn't stand all his high-pitched, shrilly "singing" on AI, and it seems to have somehow gotten even worse Kelly Clarkson was looking hot, though

I've always felt that there's just something kinda unsettling about taking three birds and shoving them all together.

You should pick up GTA IV, man...free mode online is a blast!

It's all about the culture you create among those you coach/manage. I don't care if we're talking about the frickin water boy. That dude has a job to do, and if he doesn't do it to the standard we've set, then we'll find another water boy. Obviously this season is in the toilet, but that doesn't mean we can't see a transformation in terms of attitude from day 1 of the Fewell regime. I've never understood why people want to coddle pro athletes. Most of us have jobs where we have a clearly defined job description and we're expected to perform to a certain level or risk being replaced by the next guy. Why should it be any different for NFL players? I'm not one to criticize them for being overpaid cause the put their bodies on the line each and every week (e.g. E.Wood). But that doesn't give them an excuse for not knowing their responsibilities on the field, and it's not an excuse for failing to do the job to the best of their ability. If nobody expects that of them to begin with, we'll never see it magically happen all by itself.

I've been spending some time on justin.tv watching the gaming broadcasts, and that's one of the games I'll sit and watch for a good while. Looks like a blast to play!

Damn right it is!! I'm just afraid I'm going to really end up liking this guy and then I'll be upset when we hire a different coach in the offseason lol.

Maybe Fewell will actually (here's a novel idea!) hold the players accountable! Every time I heard one of the Bills talk about how much they liked and respected DickBalls Jauron, in the back of my mind I was thinking, "sure, it's cause you can cash your checks week after week and you have a job where nobody is holding you accountable for your performance!" A bit cynical, perhaps, but the product on the field often matched that sentiment. As much as I hate Jimmy Johnson, he's does things the right way in terms of how he coaches the team. He doesn't treat everyone the same....he doesn't tolerate mistakes....he doesn't tolerate turnovers...he believes in strong defense and a running game...etc. We need someone a bit more authoritative in here, and seeing Fewell light a spark is a huge contrast to the other guy.

Are my Temple Owls on NCAA Football by chance?

lol, that's a great way to put it. Ironically, when I picked up the xbox 360 a week and a half ago, it was during a time when I could really least afford it since I've been out of work with an injury. But part of my justification was the fact that I needed something to keep my brain active and from getting affected by my situation (in a negative way). So far, it's really been great...I love the online play.

LOL, that's why I play mostly free mode in GTA IV...I suspect I'll suck at the actual game, so this way I can just run around and do crazy ****

very cool, thanks!

You're right, expecting him to succeed in terms of winning games is absurd. That's not the point. We're not going to make the playoffs this year. You have the rest of the season to take advantage of live, full-speed competition. Those are valuable reps, and a fair portion of them should have Brohm's name on them, IMO. Even if all he does is hand it off and throw screen passes for a quarter....who cares? I've heard a lot of rookies say the biggest adjustment from college is the speed of the game. This is a great way to let this kid start getting used to exactly that, and maybe get some throws in here and there, too. If it were ME in that position? I'd want my coach to assign me a package to learn and then give me as many live reps during games as possible. I would expect that I'm gonna suck at the beginning, so I'd rather suck now and have a step-up come next July.
-
I don't really care who starts, but it would be nice to see Brohm get a little playing time before the end of the year. There are enough safeguards to protect the QB from injury and our O-line is what it is. If the kid is going to be demoralized because he gets sacked a few more times than he would otherwise, he probably doesn't have the "stuff" anyway. There's no good reason not to play this kid.

How close are you to being done with the NFL?

lol, good, I'm glad it's not just me

Cool, I'm loving xbox live....$4/month is a huge bargain for that service, and I haven't even scratched the surface yet. I'm determined to get better with my game play, I just can't believe how much more advanced things have become. I expect to be pretty good at Top Spin 3 very soon, and there are certain things in GTA that I'm pretty good at....just have to get the ol' brain to work a little faster

One of the "used" listings on the amazon page is some sort of "factory amazon" thing where I can still use my Prime membership for free shipping, plus it's only like $15. It's the first listing on the "used" list for that game. Looks like a pretty good deal to me

lol, thanks Scott Actually that's why I made sure Lana was on board....kill two birds with one stone
