Exactly! That's one of my big arguments too, but lately I've had people saying how it doesn't matter, cause only one or two games in Buffalo are when the weather is a factor. Anyone who remembers when the SB went through Buffalo knows damn well that playing at home in December and January is a HUGE damn advantage, and we need rough, tough, gritty sumbitches who thrive in the elements. I bet you ten bucks Mr. Nix doesn't draft another pansy ass QB from Cali.

Question re: HD broadcasts over the air

Congrats on the tv, man! Panny makes some of the best plasmas....they're my favorite next to Pioneer. That sounds like a nice deal you got on a nice display! -
Pretty sure I read Cameron say it will be, but not right away.

Thats definitely a handshake issue then. BlueJeans is really proud of their HDMI cable...it's the only one manufactured in the US, last I knew....it's very substantial, top notch build quality, and have had no issues with my 25' run from BD to projector. It's more expensive than the monoprice, but not unreasonably so. I definitley hear ya about the component...this whole HDMI thing has been a bit of a pain in the arse for me, too, but now that I have everything under control I love it. What kind of rig are you running these days? Been a while since I heard about the state of your system.

For handshaking issues and/or longer HDMI runs, I highly recommend BlueJeans Cable.

The difference between Brohm and all those other guys you mentioned is a little thing called PREPARATION. Each of them had full training camps, OTAs, etc to learn the playbook, get familiar with their teammates, get comfortable in the offense, etc, etc. Why this point is lost on you, I don't know. A veteran QB can sometimes come to a new team and perform well from the start, but asking a newbie to do that is a tall order. And the only QB you mentioned that's really any sort of real comparison is Henne. Henne played some last year, and he's started nearly every game this year. He's thrown more INTs than TDs, been sacked 24 times, lost three fumbles, and has a QB rating of less than 75. Matthew Stafford completed only 53% of his passes, threw 20 INTs to only 13 TDs, was sacked 24 times and has a rating of 61. These guys were higher picks in the draft and had full offseasons to prepare. Brohm did fine. We need more evidence before we can determine if he's starter material or not.

Exactly, it's convenient as hell. It has your entire instant queue available, plus movies from a bunch of other categories. It allows me to check out stuff I probably wouldn't ordinarily tie up one of my rental spots with, and if it's not keeping my interest after a while, I can just choose something else immediately. And the best thing about it? It's absolutely FREE and part of the Netflix membership I'm already paying for...frickin awesome! I can definitely see why your parents would love it for the grand kids....that rocks!

You think maybe that had a little something to do with the fact that he was decisive with the ball? Probably not. I don't know what part of "relatively speaking" you don't understand, but most of us who gave him decent marks are grading him RELATIVE to the situation....the situation being his first start in a real NFL game. I'll echo what Dan said and wonder whether you really watched the game yourself. QBs very rarely come into the league and put up huge numbers. The game is much faster for them than it was in college, and there is an adjustment period. We also run a different offense than what Green Bay runs, and as others have already pointed out endlessly, the guy has only been a Bill for a short period of time. So, given the circumstances all taken together, the kid did fine. Not great, not lousy, but fine. Just like there's no basis to feel confident he's the next Jim Kelly, there's also no basis to believe he's not. Not yet.

Hell, everyone used to own the Owls.

I hear ya there, man....thankfully there is a ton of good stuff available at lower price points! This is a good time to be in the hobby
-
If you get to that price point, make sure you listen to a lot of other stuff and check the forums. The studio line is my favorite, cause that stuff is still near the top of it's class in terms of performance. When you get to the Signature line, there are a LOT of great choices, many of which are as good or better than the Paradigms. Just my $.02

I've heard good things about that, too...to me, having the ability to stream Netflix is awesome It's like having a video store in my tv!

Yes and no. Can you get a decent 5-speaker surround system for that? Nah. What I always recommend to people who have a couple hundred bucks to spend is a nice pair of quality small speakers and run a 2 or 2.1 channel system. Like Scott said, though, sound is a very subjective thing. If you don't really care that much about sound quality and just want some surround effects to be more present when you watch movies, maybe a home theater in a box is all you need. The problem is that the minute you hear something that sounds better, there's a chance that you're HTiB may become less satisfying. I will tell you that my first home theater system was a pair of Paradigm Atom speakers (about $179/pair back in 2000), and small subwoofer, and an inexpensive Denon receiver. I do use a center speaker with my current set-up, but I could be just as happy with a phantom (i.e. no center speaker) rig. People underestimate how good movies can sound through a simple stereo/2-channel system when you get a decent pair of speakers. I bet you money that if you took $250 and found yourself a surround system at Best Buy or whatever, and you compared that to a simple stereo system that I could put together for the same money, you'd be much happier with my system. Chances are your wife would be too PS. You mentioned Netflix streaming in your post....I'm not sure of all the devices that do that, but I finally got around to buying an Xbox 360 a few weeks ago, and I''m in LOVE with Netflix streaming. I've been a Netflix customer since 2001 and will sing their praises at every opportunity. Having the ability to just instantly play hundreds of titles through the xbox is just awesome! They even have many titles available in HD now, and let me tell you, the PQ is very good! I came across the original Star Trek tv series season 1 today when I was browing some titles, and I was absolutley FLOORED by how good the PQ was. I highly recommend adding a component to your system that has this capability....it makes an already fantastic value (Netflix membership) and turbo charges it.

Atlanta is one of the best teams in the NFC when they have Ryan and Turner in the lineup.

Agreed. He sets up a nice screen, seems to go through his progressions, throws a tight ball, and (believe it or not!) actually showed some emotion out there. I liked it when he looked pissed off after he threw the second pick. As others said, that wasn't a terrible throw, just a little late and the CB made a nice play and jumped the route. The criticism that he didn't have any completions over 15 yards is lame, IMO. I just watched every single offensive snap on tape, and the kid barely had time back there. Obviously with 18 players injured, several of whom play on the offensive line, there isn't goign to be much of a pocket to throw from right now. All things considered, I think the kid did pretty well for his first game action.
