Grand Theft Auto IV Sold 13 Million Units...
ajzepp replied to ajzepp's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That was how I first became so interested...I happened to be on JustinTV watching a Bills game, and I saw some people broadcasting their game play of GTA IV....this was back in 2009, IIRC. The things people were doing were just incredible to me. There was this one group of retired cops who set up their own game within a game. They used the free roam multiplayer and their own knowledge of law enforcement (e.g. using authentic dispatch codes, following protocols, etc) to effectively create a "cops and robbers" simulation. It was really creative and clever. Then you'd have others who would just run around in groups trying to blow each other up, race through the city, stuff like that. I'd just never seen anything like it. To think that GTA V is bigger than GTA IV and Red Dead Redmption combined, in terms of the map, I can't wait to see what people do. There are also all sorts of stunts inherent in the game, so it's fun to find those and to use different vehicles and such. Really?? You must have been on a Playstation? I know the Xbox multiplayer was much more involved, at least initially...I think the PSN was behind Xbox Live in terms of online play. If you were on xbox, that really surprises me...I guess it just goes to show how far removed I was from the current gaming landscape, cause I was blown away by it. -
That is awesome lol. I used to watch Aussie Rules Football on ESPN when I was a kid all the time. I haven't seen it in YEARS, but I used to love it. This was probably like in the mid-80s. I'm assuming this is the same sport they play now, yes? I could totally get into that, especially in a scene such as you described. It's funny cause I was watching some American triva show several months ago, and the question was what was Australias top grossing film of all time. I took note of the answers and I looked up the films on IMDB. This wasn't the #1 Aussie film, but it was close... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118826/?ref_=sr_1 I decided to rent it to see what it was that drove so many Aussies to the theater, and it really impressed me that a quirky little indy film like this - one with pretty lousy acting and a simple story line - would be so popular. I can see the appeal for sure now, cause it's a film about a family that is steeped in lots of good-natured humor. Again, not to generalize or romanticize the culture, but it just is further evidence that I could really see myself fitting in with these people. I don't know if Kiwi Bills Fan still posts here, but I used to be intrigued when he would post about uprooting his family and just moving to New Zealand. Being single, it would be even more feasible for me to do it. I found out recently that they even have male RNs! haha I dont' really have much family left, and most of my closest friends are multiple states away from me...I would say that Australia and Canada are the only two countries I could say are realistic options. Do you expect to head back there again any time soon? Does your job still take you there from time to time?

That's how I'll be once I get going with the multiplayer free roam when it opens up in Oct... BTW, if anyone wants to see actual live game play, go here: www.twitch.tv I was wondering why I couldn't find any live GTA streams on justin.tv...I used to go there all the time and have a blast watching people play. I guess it got so big that JTV opened a new site...twitch.tv -
I'm glad to know that your impression after being there was similar to mine just watching them from a distance. It really does seem like they're sort of a throwback in terms of their behaviors and personalities, almost like it really was going back to the 60s. They seem to really embrace humor and many of the positive aspects of American society, while being less affected by some of our more negative personality traits (as a culture). And yes, I know that's a huge generalization, but it's all I have to go on at this point. I love how they seem to just be having FUN with life...it's a stark contrast to, I think, what one would observe just looking at our own culture from a distance. I think it's interesting to see how Americanized they are....I thought they would be more like the Brits than us, but I'm not sure that's true. They seem to be the most conservative of the three countries (?). I'm always seeing their networks giving a value of how many hours "after the US sees it" in terms of their TV shows. I've seen commercials for Sons of Anarchy and Survivor most recently, and they always present it in terms of how soon after we see it that they get to see it there. It's kind of funny. They apparently love our music and movies, in addition to our television. They call it "soccer" just like we do, and they have their own idea of football just as we do...that nobody else in the world plays except for them. I just want to go and hang out with these people

This was a very strong way to start the season, IMO. There is a LOT going on already. Rupert clearly hasn't changed a bit...Colton hasn't changed a bit...and Tyson's penis has already made an appearance. Love the various dynamics in play, and it's very interesting to see the way people are having to really think about their comments and actions or suffer the consequences. I'm thinking this has the potential to be a very good season of Survivor.

#1 on Imgur currently...it caught my eye

If I were Jerry Richardson, the one change I would make to the Carolina franchise would be the name, not the logo. Back in '94 I remember an interview with some guy who was an expert in naming stuff...I don't really remember what his title was or anything like that, but he was some sort of consultant. He said that his suggestion to the NFL Owners, or whoever was naming the two expansion franchises, was to call the team the Carolina Puma, as Puma is one of the two accept plural forms of the word. I always thought that was a much cooler name, personally. -
Wow, I literally got emotional watching that lol Thanks for posting, djp... Gotta love the way Kiko does a "Terminator nod of determination" when coach swats him in the belly at 2:15 Same here. I thought it was going to be Greggo part Deux. With every interview, sound byte, video clip, etc, I become more and more confident that we hired a good one.

It would be perfect if the team ever moves to Pamplona It reminded me of a curled poop. -
I couldn't care less about tonight's finale...this season can't end fast enough for me. Andy is the best of the worst, IMO, but I've seen enough of him on the feeds to think he's just as big of a douche as the rest of them.

EJ before GW drive: "Be legendary"
ajzepp replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is why I consider Mayock the most credible analyst out there...he fully admitted that he had EJ ranked much lower mainly because he had only seen tape from some of his weakest games. But when he went back and took more time to evaluate him, he moved him up to his #2 prospect behind Geno. And as you said, he did this before the draft took place and it went against what nearly EVERY other draftnik was saying. I remember this very well because I was NOT wanting the Bills to draft EJ....a buddy of mine at work is a huge FSU guy and he mentioned some things that were red flags to me. I have little tolerance for the Kiper/McShay schtick anymore...if Mayock is on the screen, that's who I'm watching. -

In those terms, I can certainly understand why you feel that way...this is a form of confirmation bias and I find it pretty annoying when people talk like they "just knew it was goign to happen", as well. I didn't see the EJ thing in the same light, so that's probably why I couldn't relate to what you were saying. But if that's what you equated it to, then yeah, it makes perfect sense. -
I just started and finished watching Breaking Bad

Nice, I love this idea. That's one thing about Sons of Anarchy that I really like...often times Sutter will write for a 90 minute episode and it just seems to be a better "fix" for the week. An hour just isn't enough to hold you over for the week when it's a show you are really into, IMO...at least not on the networks since you only end up with about 42 minutes of show. -
Are Patriots fans the biggest douchebag fans out there?
ajzepp replied to cr02pica's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I broke the news to a Pats fan the other day that they have a losing Super Bowl record now and, in fact, have lost just as many as the Bills...I wasn't sure that would have much bite, but the reaction in his face was pretty satisfying, I must admit. BTW, I never have to deal with obnoxious fans living in Atlanta...when you are surrounded by the most front-running fans on the planet, there just isn't enough passion there to fuel the doucheyness. -
I'm really glad it's back...after the crap fest that was Big Brother this year, I'm ready for the King of Reality Shows to be back...

I'm on record many times in the past about how Fitz lacked leadership in my eyes. I've never seen anything but a flat affect and an uninspired attitiude from the guy in the few years he was here. That aside, I don't really see how it matters what he did or didn't say in the huddle. Anyone can say that sort of thing, but if it's not someone who is actually capable of pulling it off and instilling motivation in those around him, the words don't matter at all. You could have the exact same 10 guys, and they will react completely different when Tom Brady says "we're going to get this done" than they will when a Ryan Fitzpatrick says it. I'm a huge believer in a positive mindset and I believe in the power of goal-setting. I don't see the point of dismissing it, personally.
