  1. Yes, the trade deadline already passed on week 6, but you may trade players right before the draft. I didn't have much time earlier to make myself clear, but when I was referring to trading SJ of course I meant we'd have to franchise him first. I'd like to go on record as saying that I'm against trading Stevie. If the Bills are dead set against re-signing him than at the very least we should get something for him, just like TD did with Price. Whether it be trading him for a pick or to move up to get, IMO, the best QB in the draft which is RG 3. Ryan Fitzpatrick is very limited to what he can do. If he can't hurt people with the deep pass, which he has been unable to do thus far, consistently, than the Bills will always be easy to defend and we will never be a threat to even go to the playoffs without a franchise QB. We need to do whatever it takes to acquire that type of QB even if it means giving up a whole lot in order to do so.
  2. If we offered the Rams our 1st, 2nd and Stevie Johnson for their 2nd overall, will they go for it?? Would you like this trade?
  3. Great job, Chan! You sure showed Stevie a lesson!!'
  4. Nix sure does know how to find lineman. I think in the draft the Bills need to get the best player available at WR,DE,CB or OLB. in the first round. I would love to see us draft Alshon Jeffery from South Carolina this guy is a Calvin Johnson clone. I would love for us to find a good DE but i think it`s a down year for pass rushers coming out in the draft, and we should not make the same mistake we always make for reaching for a player of need.
  5. He`s a tackle converted to center, but he sure looks like a natural for the position considering that he is 6`8. The man was Mauling guys out there. If anything he gives us some flexability for our O line next season
  6. When you draft someone has young as Lynch you better be prepared to go through some immaturity issues and some growing pains. In other words, his body needs more time to develop at the NFL level.
  7. I finally have some time to address your points you guys have made on my post. Here it goes: It's only one of 32 jobs on the planet. I'm pretty sure its highly coveted. a. It's not so much that the 34 defense is perfect for Buffalo, it's more like the Tampa 2 wasn't. The T2 required smaller guys on in the front seven and two safeties guarding against the deep pass. Well, Buffalo gets pretty windy. You don't need two safeties protecting against the deep pass at all times and since Buffalo is a tough, blue collar town then, to me, the 34 defense fits that mold a lot better with bigger and tougher defenders along the front seven. b. Moats sucks, face it. He's a huge liability against the run. Period point blank. c. I said the plan to draft heavily on the defensive side of the ball was sound, but the execution (picking the wrong players to run it) wasn't. 1. You'll probably laugh when I make my point here, but what if we get home field advantage throughout the playoffs, one day? I'd like to see guys on our team that has played in the bad weather before for that reason. That and what about the kids that we draft from warm weather colleges that can't stand the cold weather? As soon as these guys become free agents you can rest assured that they will leave. 2. I'm not so sure of that. We already had Kyle, Dwan, Carrington and Troup. If Troup had panned out as planned they might have went in another direction in the draft. Explain why we start off well when the weather is nice, 08 and this year, then tail off when the weather starts to turn. My post was aimed at the defense, not the offense. I agree with you that Spiller was a luxury pick that we couldn't afford. 1. I agree with your first point. 2. Troup was undersized when we drafted him. He didn't weigh 340 at that point and who knows how the wieght gain can affect his body or his play. that's just not a chance I'm willing to take if I was selecting the talent in Buffalo in the second round. Cody was already big enough and he dominated at the college level. 3. I don't like Williams. He isn't a very good corner. I watched all the games and the shortcuts and payed close attention to that guy. He will be a safety someday soon, JMO. 4. The plan was sound, the execution of it wasn't. We would have team depth if we drafted well. Our offense wasn't the problem when we were healthy earlier in the year. The defensive turnovers helped us win, I agree, but our offense was amazing even without them. That's what I said. CG failed miserably at selecting a staff. Our defense sucked even when they were healthy. The turnovers forced was the only positive, but you can't count on that week in and week out. I don't like either draft. I do like Dareus, Searcy, Hairston, and Rogers, but that's it. I would've taken Brooks Reed instead of Williams. I would've taken Cody instead of Troup. i would have taken either Mallett or Justin Houston instead of Sheppard. We're constantly using draft picks to replace guys that leave visa free agency/trade. I'm not saying we need to break the bank on free agents, we should, at the very least, keep our own free agents. This is a recipe for disaster and is probably the main reason why we never take the next step in our rebuilding process. No, I didn't. If you read my post carefully you would see I said, "Simply suggest to the head coach to hire Chan as offensive coordinator". That's it. If said head coach didn't want him then fine, so be it. Get someone else. I didn't miss the boat on Marty. BN and Ralph did. Marty would have been the perfect choice for head coach. Fire away!
  8. Maybin was released for financial reasons, first and foremost. Since the Bills were paying him over $5 million a season they felt like he had to be an every down defender and since he sucks at stopping the run they felt he wasn't worth keeping around as a one dimensional player. Maybin never really was given a shot in Buffalo to simply just rush the passer. Another problem will our Bills is that they draft these immature 21 year olds, a la Maybin and Lynch, and never wait for the to finally mature as men.
  9. Bring in people with enough clout and the new ownership will embrace them. Throw enough money at a problem and it will be resolved. The real reason top tier people don't come here is because RW isn't willing to pony up the dough that it will take to bring those guys in, not because he's old. I'm not buying that.
  10. During Buddy Nix's two years as GM he has brought in an offensive minded head coach, added guys to the scout team, converted to the 34 defense and drafted heavily on that side of the ball, as well. The plan was sound, but the execution part of it all is where he failed miserably. Let's take a look at each decision and how he failed. First up, Chan Gailey A great offensive mind, no doubt, but where Nix went wrong was making CG a head coach. This guy should have been our offensive coordinator, if anything. Nobody was beating on Chan's door for any type of job, much less the highly coveted head coaching job. He should have looked for someone else for that position and simply suggested to said head coach to hire Gailey to run the offense. Wrong move, for sure. What this team needed was a head coach with clout. A man that has taken a team from the ashes before and led them to prominence or at least the playoffs. A head coach that would actually take the city he plays in, into account when building his team and strategy on both offense and defense. A coach that has enough pull and know how to build a great coaching staff. Chan built an offense more suitable for a domed team or a good weather city. Jauron (not chosen by Nix) built our defense the same way, as if we were playing ball in Florida. Chan's choice for defensive coordinator was a horrible decision, as well. George Edwards was fired by the Dolphins as a linebacker's coach, why did CG think this guy deserved a promotion? A spread offense without a QB with a cannon for an arm in Buffalo doesn't make sense. When was the last time the Bills ran an out pattern 15+ yards down the field? I would have gone with Marty ball. He would have been a perfect fit for head coach of the Bills. An old fashioned, hard-nosed coach that would have built this team to play tough. Line up in an I-Formation and run the ball down our opponents' throat. That's how this team's offense should have been built. The 34 Defense and personnel decisions The 34 defense is a perfect fit for a city like Buffalo, but the execution of putting together that defense was flawed. As I stated previously, George Edwards was the wrong choice. We needed a guy with experience to transform our defense from the Tampa Two to the 3-4, not a first-timer at the NFL level. The mistakes didn't stop there. In year one, BN's draft selections to turn our defense into a 34 were way off, he drafted Troup, Carrington, Batten, and Moats. Troup is an undersized NT, we already had one of those on our roster, I would have went with the massive Mount Cody, instead of the small school product. Carrington has the look of a 34 defensive end, but these guys have him playing outside. Moats is too small. And Batten has proven to be a failure or wasn't given enough time to become a good OLB. It's starting to look like all these picks were busts. In year two, Nix continued to draft heavily on defense. He took Dareus, Williams, Sheppard, Searcy, Chris White, Rogers and Jasper. Dareus is a beast and will only get better, but we had to use our 3rd overall pick to correct the mistake we made with Troup, instead of using it on something else. Sheppard may or may not turn out to be a great player, that has yet to be determined, but you don't have to take an inside linebacker that early (in the3rd round), when you should be selecting OLBers, in that round, instead. Justin Houston would have been a great selection. Speaking of OLBers, what about Brooks Reed in round two instead of Aaron Williams? Everyone knows that in order for your 34 defense to be effective, the strength of your "D" needs to be in the linebacker corps. Trusting Merriman to stay healthy was a huge gamble on BN's part that has backfired on the Bills. Keeping Kelsay at OLB was the wrong move, too, and now these idiots actually think Carrington and Johnson are OLBers?? Ha ha ha, I won't even put them there in Madden!! Searcy looks like a keeper so far. White I never liked. Rogers will probably be better than Williams and Jasper has been moved to offense. As you can see, BN has done plenty to get this team where he wants it to be. He used 11 picks in the last two drafts to fix our defense to no avail. Is it the players he picked that are no good or are the coaches inept and unable to properly groom those kids into great football players? Or both? Why can't we stop the run? Why can't we rush the passer? Why have we regressed in pass d? Where does the blame lie? With the owner? The front office? The coaches? The players? All of the above? Over the course of the last decade we have seen numerous coaches, GMs, and players come and go and yet we're stuck in the same tailspin. Moving forward, I recommend we do it right this time, not by spending boat loads of cash which we know Ralph will never do, but to spend the money we already spend but spread it out differently. Put more money into the GM, the front office, and the coaching staff. Stop paying our head coaches like other teams spend on their coordinators. Bring in proven guys that have turned things around before. Make at least one huge free agent signing every year. Until then, the pathetic product that his been on display at OBD over the last decade plus will only continue.
  11. If Family Guy can find advertisers, anyone can. They make fun of Jews, Jesus, 9/11, and so on and so forth. Same with South Park, but a show about Muslims living in America is a "lightning rod"? Come on!!! I agree with you that politicians shouldn't have a say in this matter and if their sales are affected negatively because of their sponsorship of the program then I can agree with their decision, as well, but if the real reason for pulling ads were anything other than these reasons I mentioned, than it's just wrong to do so.
  12. Bad move. I hated the finale just because of the ending.
  13. No, you don't. I'm gonna give you the answer that you're not expecting from me. The Israelites were there first, of course.
  14. Gingrich said it during an interview with a Jewish Television station and he said it again during the last debate. The Arabs, now known as Palestinians, were also there for a very long time. What's the difference?
  15. While I do acknowledge the fact that the Palestinian people are, historically, an invented people, but so are the Israelis. The people that we know as Israelis, today, have been brought in from many places all over the world. Jew does not equal Israeli, but if you are Jewish, and want to become an Israeli citizen, than that's what you will be. It's as easy as that, but that still doesn't make them an actual "Israeli or Israelite". The original Israelites don't really exist anymore. That's a fact. Therefore, Newt's point is invalid.
  16. It depends on which Buddy Nix you're talking about. The Buddy Nix I like is the one that says all the right things, like: "We're gonna build a team suited for the city of Buffalo". Did he actually do that? Yes and no is the answer to this question. He brought in some big guys on defense, like Carrington, Dareus, and Merriman, but at the same time he's got an undersized NT in Kyle Williams and Troup. If you're gonna run a 34 defense, you need to be bigger than that at the nose. On offense, this team is the furthest thing from being built to play in Buffalo. A finesse offense that can't punch nobody in the mouth? Give me a break, this is Buffalo, we need to be tough and gritty. "If we think we can bring a guy in from free agency to make our team better, we'll do that". Once again, saying all the right things, but never really living up to it. Buddy Nix claims that RW is willing to spend the money and that he's the one that tells RW to calm down on that. Well if that's true, which I don't believe it is, than BN is an idiot. The best way to turn this team around is via free agency. I don't care what some of you might say about Daniel Snyder and that you can't buy a championship, when you constantly miss on draft picks you need to supplement the roster via free agency. Plain and simple. Break the bank in free agency, once and for all. Make a huge splash. We need it!!! What's left for us now is to take a look at Nix's resume. His last two drafts have been horrible. I'm just a football fan, but I never would have drafted Aaron Williams, Sheppard, Spiller, Troup, Carrington, Johnny White, Wang, Easley, Chris White, etc etc etc. As for free agency, I like the Barnett pick-up, but that's where it ends. The rest haven't panned out. Let's give Nix another year and if things don't change then we have to bring in someone else. The truth is there isn't an easy answer to your question. Who knows how well the Bills would have been had they stayed healthy, but what we do know is things aren't going to change around here until the Bills' FO and ownership change some of their ways.
  17. It doesn`t make a difference if we pick 11 or 20, The Bills will find a way to draft a bust. This team needs to learn how to win on a consistent basis.. With all the injures we have, if we finish the season 9-7 or 10-6. i would have to call that a successful year. Next year will be a lot better if we can get healthy and add some depth to our team threw free agency. Add a pass rusher in the draft and switch to a true 4-3 Defense cause lets face it the Bills will be wasting away Dareus and Klye Williams careers if they don`t make the switch. Williams is not a true nose tackle or 5 tech, this man is a 0ne gap penetrating beast and Dareus can plug away with the best of them. All we have to do is build around that. Not all is lost with this team. I AM DAM PROUD TO BE A BILLS FAN!!
  18. I agree. We need to move to a 4-3 ASAP. Kelsay might flourish at DE, because it is his natural position, with Carrington, Troup and Johnson filling in at DT and end for relief. LE Kelsay DT Dareus DT Heard RE Edwards OLB Barnett MLB Sheppard OLB Batten/Moats
  19. Now is not the time to play musical chairs with our offensive line. If I were Coach Gailey I'd start: LT Hairston LG Levitre C Urbik RG Rhinehart RT Pears Of course this lineup is assuming that Hairston is back to full strength, which he should be. He was in uniform Sunday, so I see no reason why he can't play. IMO, this line-up gives us the best chance at success this weekend against the Fish. Hairston will be more effective than Levitre at LT. Levitre's best position is at LG, why make him learn a new position? Urbik is a big kid so he will be better suited to play against Soliai. Rhinehart is better off on the right side and Pears is doing an okay job at RT. On the D-line, I'd like to see: LE- Dareus NT- Heard RE- Edwards I like Marcell at NT better than LE, but I'd rather take my chances with MD lining up against Colombo rather than Pouncey. Troup is garbage, Heard has been the better player and Dwan is servicable at RE. Well, that's my two cents. What do you think?
  20. I'm glad you asked. Here's the answer: Question Assalamu 'alaikum, Dr. Hathout. How does a true believer respond to insults? Answer Wa'alykum assalamu rahmatullah. We find the answer clearly stated in the Qur'an when Allah SWT talks about those who would control their anger and even goes further to recommend forgiveness. The verse goes as follows: "Those who spend (freely), whether in prosperity, or in adversity; who restrain anger, and forgive (all) people; for Allah loves those who do good." (Ali-'Imran: 134) The Qur'an also teaches us: " Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; but turn away from the ignorant." (Al-'Araf: 199) Therefore, a Muslim is not supposed to respond to an insult by another insult, especially in the area of religion because what others may insult is dearer and more important to us than anything else. According to the religion of Islam, Muslims can only respond to verbal abuse, mockery and lampooning of their faith and its sacred figures in the following forms. 1. Any criticism of Islam, or allegations against it, which underlie the abuse must be refuted and answered by means of words and speech. 2. Apart from answering specific criticism, all possible efforts must be made to present the true and accurate picture of Islam in general. With more enlightenment and less ignorance prevailing about Islam and its Holy Prophet Muhammad, the instances of abuse, vituperation and mockery will decrease. 3. As regards the offence or hurt that Muslims naturally feel as a result of such abuse, they are taught to respond by: a) bearing the provocation with resolute patience, b) ignoring the abuse, c) separating themselves temporarily from the company of the abusers while the abuse continues, d) exercising forgiveness in view of the ignorance of the abusers. All this is stated plainly and categorically in the Holy Quran and is evident from the actions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. It is not allowed by Islam to respond intemperately with fury and rage, call for physical retribution and punishment, or threaten or attack anyone with physical violence. It is entirely false and totally unfounded to allege that Islam teaches Muslims to attack or seek to murder anyone who verbally abuses their religion, mocks it, or offends their feelings towards their faith. As you can see, people aren't perfect. We all have our flaws, but the religion isn't the one to blame. Man is. Myself included, even here in this thread I violated the teachings of Islam.
  21. Honestly, I don't know and I don't care. I'm here to discuss "the religion of peace" remark and simply point out that the Muslims aren't the only ones that are violent people. That's it, nothing more, nothing else. If that's not acceptable to you, too bad.
  22. Sorry, you lost me here. Can you clarify? I can assure that neither I, nor Rome, has an other aliases.
