  1. During the summer of 1996, I actually worked for the Sabres as a temp. I must have made an impression as I was selected to be one of the move captains from the Aud to the Arena, and my job was to categorize each Sabres game in history via video tape. I can't tell you how many times I watched the French Connection on tape at 2 am in the Aud. As for player stories, I have a ton. The thing that stands out head and shoulders above the rest is Pat LaFontaine, and his love of practical jokes! This actually happened. Matthew Barnaby brought a 18 year old girl home. Jason Dawe lived across the street from Barnaby. Barnaby called up Dawe, and they "had a night" with this girl. Of course they bragged about it the next day in the locker room. Somewhere lost in translation someone said this girl was 17. That got Pat's light bulbs burning bright. He called the NY State Police and made a donation to a charity of their choice. In return, they sent a police car with officers to Barnaby's and Dawe's house, and fake arrested them for sex with a minor. Mug shots, fingerprints, everything. Barnaby and Dawe were sweating bullets as they were trying to keep this from Muckler. Finally they went into Mucklers office. Muckler, in on the joke, was told, and he immediately threw his phone against the wall so hard, it put a hole in the wall. Barnaby and Dawe were apologizing left and right to Muckler. Muckler then said "I don't care what you did with some girl. You two idiots couldn't tell Pat was behind this?" To which LaFontaine poked his head around the corner and simply said, "gotcha".
  2. Talking to a celebrity about an interest of theirs outside of their "job" is what they really want. One time I won a contest to have breakfast with Geddy Lee of Rush. There were 20 people in the room. Questions came in, all about Rush. He was very pleasant and answered all the questions. Then my ex asked him about his then 7 year old daughter and how it was to be a parent of a young child in your mid 40's. (My ex has a son the same age as Geddy's daughter). He literally shut off everyone and talked to my ex and I about parenting a 7 year old for at least 30 minutes. I then asked him about baseball, and we talked for another solid 20 minutes about the history of the game. Not only could he name off every single World Series winner from the 20's but he also gave the nicknames of each winning team. When it came time for photos at the end of the event, He put his arms around my ex and I for the photo. You could tell he was just so appreciative that we knew his other interests and were willing to trade stories about them.
  3. Well Dead Mans Party isn't going to happen this Saturday. But fear not! We have a gig Halloween Eve at Bella's Parkside Tavern in Kenmore, and we'll be good to go with DMP then!
  4. Over/Under of number of threads on how the Bills need to trade for D'Earnest Johnson in the next week?
  5. Something that I love that's super quick and easy. One can of chick peas, drained. Add a tablespoon of nutritional yeast, and a teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Put everything in a container, and shake aggressively, then eat. So good.
  6. One time at the old American Sports Bar and Grill on Transit Road, Petr Svoboda came in, and sat down at the bar right next to me and a friend of mine. We didn't ask for any photos or autographs. Just talked to him and his buddy like regular guys. He ended up buying all of us as many wings as we wanted to eat and a few pitchers of beer. He was just so happy to be out of Montreal and in Buffalo where he could go out and be himself.
  7. We "got our ass kicked" by those 2 teams by a total of 10 points. The definition doesn't equate to the actual outcome.
  8. Don't worry @Chandler#81, I got ya covered.
  9. My ex and daughter bought tickets to see Oingo Boingo former members Halloween Night in San Diego. Show sold out. Then it was announced that Danny will be joining the band for that show.
  10. I have Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass, where he showcases the 350 basses in his collection. His favorite basses are the ones who have the finish worn down on the body, and the frets slightly worn, because those types of basses have been used in bars and other gigs, and each one of those basses has a story unique to that instrument. I only have 2 basses, and my 5 string has a very special story to it. It was originally owned by a good friend of mine. Knew Steve for about 17 years before he passed away of a heart attack at 50. Steve's sister gave all of his basses to the top local bassist in Buffalo, Jim Wynne who was best friends with Steve. Jim is also my bass instructor. So one day Jim asked me if I ever considered playing a 5 string. I said I would definitely consider it, and in next weeks lesson Jim had Steve's 5 string all ready for me to take home. Jim has Steve's Rickenbacker 4001, but to this day Jim's Rickenbacker and my 5 string are still considered to be "Steve's bass".
  11. Very, very cool! Sad to hear that the blonde ripper was destroyed in the hurricane. I'd like to start collecting basses. The only "vintage" bass I would buy would be a 1963 Fender Jazz in Lake Placid Blue. Otherwise, I would go with more exotic basses like a Gus Bass, carbon fibre construction.
  12. I wasn't familiar with Freebo, but after a quick search, was very impressed that he's one of those studio musicians that everyone works with, because he's that good! Also touring with Bonnie Raitt is a great thing as well.
  13. Danny Elfman is supremely talented
  14. We have been rehearsing Dead Mans Party. It's a distinct possibility for this Saturday. It's just a really hard song. One of our band motto's is "F**k Danny Elfman".
  15. I usually go right up to my wife. That's the only lady I want to love my waving bass
  16. https://www.facebook.com/events/367533008491868/?ref=newsfeed Band name is Boomerang! We're a 6 piece band playing 80's First Wave with 90's and today's dance rock. Yes, I go into the crowd and dance whilst playing my bass.

  18. What I took away is the final paragraph. Spot on. The NFL season is a marathon, not a sprint. As the Bills head off into their bye week, rest assured this painful loss will be felt across the organization and it will undoubtedly stoke the fire for a postseason run.
  19. Wasn't Hart signed by Tennessee? I saw it on TBD
  20. There's also this
  21. Actually, I have a plan. Remember, I'm a huge Rush fan and there's a number just north of 2000 that holds significance.
