  1. The house sets the odds for themselves. If you think the game is rigged you’re saying you don’t believe the odds are accurate.
  2. Again - if you truly believe the league is fixed, don’t bet on games. It’s stupid of you, and losing gambling revenue is the only way the league will get serious about fixing officiating.
  3. I think it’s somewhat more complicated (as it almost always is). Beane hasn’t hit enough home runs for sure. But part of that is because they tend to take an insecure approach toward player acquisition where they prioritize football character over other traits - such as talent and speed. They draft and sign players as though they’re not confident in their ability to fully coach them up - high floor/lower ceiling. Mack Hollins, Taiwan Jones, it’s fine to have a few guys like this but the Bills under this regime seem addicted to them - they overrate the “coach on the field” quality. Rightly or wrongly George Pickens was off their board. They don’t draft guys like that (or at least grade them much lower). McD has shown he can coach players up, they’ve got a great leadership structure and a cohesive locker room - the time to take some risks on talent is long overdue IMO and that’s as much a McDermott insecurity thing as it is Beane’s crappy player evals.
  4. Just not correct. Lots of film breakdowns out there. Bernard guessed wrong about where Andrews was cutting and it left him wide open. Bernard has struggled a bit in zone this year compared to last year for whatever reason. Still was a beautiful peanut punch.
  5. The rock-kickers and the loons have been out in full force this week.
  6. Pretty sure they play Nickleback at Guantanamo to make them talk.
  7. Also JFC was it weird for anyone else when he referred to the “13 Seconds” game?
  8. Gambling will have to be the impetus for change if there ever is any.
  9. Question for those of you who are sure it’s all rigged: do you still bet on games? If yes, um, are you insane? The NFL will only fix the officiating problem if it keeps bettors on the sideline. Period.
  10. He definitely needs to get stronger at the catch point and be able to fight through more arm tackles than he did this past season. Also needs to improve his zone awareness. It’s definitely both.
  11. Whole lotta rock-kickers in this thread. Nothing about this PC was novel or surprising; a chatbot could've written it. It was fully on-brand with his usual post-season milquetoast approach. There is no cause for any increased outrage as a result of this - this is Beane being Beane. My takeaways: - Keon did not push himself hard enough through and on the back-end of his injury, they are disappointed with how he ended the season and told him so, and he has a big offseason ahead. We all saw this ourselves. - Kincaid needs to develop his play strength. He's a tough guy in terms of pain management but soft at the catch point and block point and they want more from him. - Von is Gone. - Hamlin probably gone too if they can upgrade. - Corner will be a major offseason focus.
  12. Humanity: the Series Finale.
  13. The Bills’ best chance at the #1 seed is probably a hope that the AFC West continues to improve. There are now four competent coaches in that division. Kelce very well may retire this offseason which also helps. But the Chiefs won’t stay idle and their pro personnel dept has been running circles around Beane’s for years now anyhow.
  14. The Chiefs exploited every single one of our tendencies - including, most critically, our coaches’ tendencies to over-plan around the other teams’ tendencies. It really was checkers vs. chess on the coaching side.
  15. We have an elite QB who unfortunately is the second-best QB in his conference, during his era. We have a good but not elite coaching staff. Facts.
  16. He did have a few splash plays which may have resulted from freelancing because he shot through gaps so fast. But he mostly has looked pretty bad. He was the one head-scratcher pick for me last draft, he’s old and maybe at his ceiling - I don’t have high hopes for him but he does have a high football character so who knows.
  17. Agree. After the Baltimore game there were like 250 posts complaining that McD and Brady didn't just keep tush-pushing into the end zone and now folks are saying we shouldn't have done that yesterday. They just needed to execute those better. Edwards had his worst day in a Bills uniform and it came at a terrible time.
  18. I mean, since they aren't ever going to move on from McD unless the wheels totally come off, yes, they can (finally) build a modern offense that can put up 40 points + against top defenses, but they also can fundamentally change their approach to high-leverage games and moments. For whatever reason, every single year, in elimination games McD adheres to a philosophy of "stick with what got us here, just execute it at the highest level" as opposed to throwing in new wrinkles and bucking tendencies. And every year it fails. Even with their underinvestment in offense, for two years in a row they were in a position to win the game on the final drive - and failed, largely because the other team was able to attack their tendencies. Plus there is still something about Allen in those moments (not always, but often) where he seems to veer from the game script and tries to win the game on every down, as opposed to methodically taking 3-4 yards per down. But these things have happened every year under McD and they're much easier to fix than firing McD (which Terry will never do, nor perhaps should he given how bad he is at hiring executives if the Sabres are any indication), and easier than changing the entire asset-allocation approach to the offseason which for whatever reason Beane cannot and will not do.
  19. Really unfortunate that he hasn’t worked out. He’s just not very good.
  20. Running backs drafted by Beane: Singletary Moss Cook Davis Receivers drafted by Beane: Coleman Shakir Justin Shorter Gabe Davis Isiah Hodgins There’s your issue.
  21. The problem is that it’s actually two problems: they under-invest in offense and their limited investments underwhelm, because they’re bad evaluators.
  22. They lack team speed more than anything else. They just haven’t prioritized it.
  23. Coaches didn’t have a good plan. Line got out muscled in short yardage situations. Lack of team speed esp on defense was noticeable. And once again the league office did itself zero favors with those who question the credibility of the whole operation. Just a disgrace all around.
  24. The coaches didn’t come in with much of a plan tonight. But they lack team speed and the Chiefs exposed that, plus their o line lost the battle upfront in critical downs. And that spot non-reversal was a typical BS call from a league that has zero credibility. Fun season. You have to feel for Josh. He wasn’t perfect tonight but he deserves better than this.
  25. I do suspect this has occurred to Babich on his own…
