That isn't the result I'd want - I'm just saying, Rex earned himself a dismissal and it's a shame. He did not put in the work, did not adjust, and, perhaps most deadly, overpromised.

I'm tired of the constant change, it keeps setting us back and creates an atmosphere of dysfunction. That said - Rex really earned this. He deserves to be fired.

Especially once he gets paid. It concerns me.

Correct, this is what I keep saying. The trend now is to simplify because you can't practice enough and rosters change so much from year to year (and week to week). The Patriots run a very simple system on D, as does Seattle. On the offensive side of the ball, if you don't have a "coach on the field" type like Brady, Brees, Rodgers or Manning, you also need to simplify. Carolina runs a simple offense.

Season is over, I'd be fine with it. Would be nice to see a pulse on this team.

EJ simply cannot process what is going on around him quickly enough to (i) make the right decision and (ii) re-set his body to make an accurate throw to the proper location. Perhaps they should've known that when they scouted him but regardless, it became pretty apparent once he started playing. EJ is never going to become Carr.

Agree 100%. And thank you for accurately summarizing my point. I don't fault them for EJ. I fault them for passing on other QBs who they should've drafted despite having EJ.

No doubt Siemian has managed the position very well. I just don't think Elway is going to sit tight with him and Lynch as the only options heading into next season. I think Elway will try to find a QB who can actually win games, not just manage them. Again, I could be wrong. Time will tell.

Most likely yes. But there might be a surprise option or two like Carson Palmer, Teddy Bridgewater (or Bradford), even Tyrod... (yeah I said it - again, the point is that he'll keep collecting assets until the right one emerges).

We'll have to agree to disagree there. If I'm building a team, recognizing that you never know for sure how a pick will turn out, I maximize my odds of hitting at that position - it's just too important of a position to put all of your eggs into one basket.

But my point is that he's at least going the Seattle route of loading up on chances. Whaley doesn't pick or sign enough QBs to hit. Elway has already used two high picks on QBs plus another pick plus he signed Manning. My prediction is that he keeps trying this offseason rather than just sticking with what he has. No, the point is quantity over quality to a certain extent.

Yes that one. He will keep trying until he finds a solution. Not every move will hit. But you increase your odds by increasing your attempts. It's a contrast to Whaley's "lottery ticket" approach to the position.

They picked up Ware and drafted Shane Ray to replace Dumerville and I suspect they're happy about that state of affairs. They were wise not to overpay Osweiler. We'll see how it plays out - it's a prediction obviously so I could well be wrong.

He tried. He drafted two (including one with his first pick, something the Bills have never done as a franchise). He also tried to re-sign Osweiler at a reasonable rate but the Texans handed him a ridiculous contract.

They don't regret it at all. That's an insane take.

If you want to see how a real organization behaves - watch what John Elway does this offseason. I'll put my chips on the table that he goes out and finds a solid QB to leverage his historically great defense while their window to win stays open. He won't be content to hand the keys to Lynch or Siemian (though notice he drafted two last year, one first and one last). Be it Romo or Biridgewater or someone else, I'm guessing Elway recognizes you need a QB to win games and does what it takes to find one. Wish Whaley would take the same approach...

Yes, terrible. As an organization they are terrible at what they do.

I hated the pick and still do. He's a slow-twitch leaner with no change of direction or bend ability. He'll get his fair share of effort sacks but they'll be outweighed by losing contain against quick RBs. Plus he looks like a defensive tackle playing OLB.
