My concern is that the perceived dysfunction hurts the brand and negatively impacts recruitment of coaches and free agents. Maybe it won't, you could be right - but why take the chance? Corporate PR is not that hard to get right...

Clearly Whaley must've expressed his reservations about Rex to Terry, and they came true. Then Whaley played the good soldier and did his best to support Rex for two years. When it became clear that Whaley had been right, Terry manned up, fired Rex and gave Whaley the ball. It's the right thing to do but there must've been a better way to deal with all of this from a P.R. standpoint.

Ok, so say "ultimately it was Terry and Kim's decision but like all decisions of this magnitude, we all discussed it and I gave them my input and they have my full support."

I don't need to hear what really went on but I also don't need to be lied to. Why can't Whaley say that it was the Pegulas' decision to fire Rex and he was consulted and reluctantly agreed? Or some version of that which would actually be, you know, the truth.

Kelly that is right - however you can't alienate the press and your stakeholders (the fans) by hiding from them and sending in the company guy to lie to them. That, to me, is highly dysfunctional and counterproductive. It creates an atmosphere of negativity and distrust that will make the next coach's job harder.

I probably prefer Adams. "Adams" sounds American and downright presidential. Hooker is a guy you can find on the street.

Only the Bills could pull off such a stupid press conference after weeks of media pressure. This is freaking hilarious (and sad). They had days to prepare, and this!

Interesting list. Goodwin will get some looks this offseason, perhaps in Denver or Arizona (if Arians retires). There are going to be a bunch of attractive job openings like Denver and LA, it's not a great time to have to hire a new coach.
