Here's the thing: my theory is that Pegula signed off on the trades only after securing promises from McBean that they'd be competitive this year, regardless. I'm almost certain of it, and that's why Beane reacted so strongly to questions about "tanking." But we know that that promise, assuming it was made, was ludicrous: the Bills most certainly are not going to be competitive this year. Which will make for an interesting situation between Beane and Pegula, if I'm right.
Put it this way - which is scarier, that they're secretly tanking? Or that they actually believe they'll be competitive this year? The second one, obviously...
