If they're smart they'll view it as sunk costs. Snead can't blame the prior GM (a Bills fan speciality) but it was, at least, a prior coaching staff. I think they won't hesitate to cut bait on Goff this offseason if he doesn't show a ton of progress. And outside of the QB position, that roster is STACKED.

This is not a surprise

The truth must be hard for you to grapple with.

But $2 million dollars!

This also sums up the mindset of Bills fans! Some amazing quotes around here tonight.

This quote encapsulates the psychology of Bills fans. Seriously - this sums up most of this board. Truly amazing!

Ragland traded to KC for 4th round 2019 pick
Coach Tuesday replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Alpha maybe so, but the team has openly advanced the same logic in not exercising the option and then after trading him... -
Thanks. I'm already going to hell anyhow, so I'm openly hoping Brady blows out his knee tonight. The Bills are going to be unwatchable this year, but here's to big things in 2018 and beyond. Best of luck with the Packers this year.

It's all good. WRT my recent posts - it's not that I'm down on the new regime so much as I'm down on the owner. I like Terry as a person - he and his wife seem like great humans. I haven't liked what they've done with their two sports franchises. In several instances now, they've over-empowered unqualified managers and then have lost patience for the plans they empowered. Empowerment is good, but it needs to be smart. I've always wanted Terry to hire a football/hockey "czar" of some kind, if not to have total control than at least to consult with him and serve as a sounding board for important decisions. WRT to McBeane, I don't think it was a good idea to expel so much young talent, so early, without having a track record of prior success. Not that I don't think it will work in the long run - it may or may not - but because I don't believe that Terry ultimately will have the patience to see it through, especially if (i) the Bills are still struggling to win games by next fall, and (ii) the young players they got rid of are performing at a high level elsewhere. If that happens, ownership will be under tremendous pressure from fans who will be looking around the league and realizing that a roster of former Bills could whip the current Bills roster on Sundays. We'll be closer to an even 20 year drought. The CBA and stadium lease issues will be on the immediate horizon. Under all of those circumstances, and taking BADOL's point about McBeane (and other coaches/GMs in the past) confusing Terry's assent with his buy-in, I just wonder whether Terry will remain willing to stay the course. He has demonstrated time and again that he can change his mind QUICKLY. It shocks people - it shocked Rex, Wales and Murray, none of whom (I believe) saw their dismissals coming.

IMO, to keep his job McBeane needs to have the Bills to playing "winning football" (i.e., smart and disciplined, not getting blown out, etc.) by October of 2018. If that isn't happening AND (i) Mahomes is lighting it up for the Chiefs; (ii) Sammy is lighting it up for the Rams or someone else; and/or (iii) the other castoffs (JWill, Mikey Gill, Gilly Lock, Darby, Ragnuts, Bobby Woods, Zach Brown, etc.) are all playing at a high level, Terry is going to lose confidence in the Wrestler and the Accountant and we'll be rebooting yet again.

Rex has hot takes on his 2 exes, the Bills and Jets
Coach Tuesday replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rex and Whaley, two complete idiots. Rex was right that Wales messed up a no-brainer tender situation with Hogan. Whaley was TERRIBLE at doing anything beyond scouting - he was just a garbage GM. But Rex's own statements in that article demonstrate what a buffoon he is, as well - he didn't even know which tender had been assigned. He was half checked-out the entire time he was in Buffalo. Good riddance to both of those guys. Really, their incompetence was staggering. -
It's the poor offensive line, lack of a running game, and horrid talent around him generally. There is no better QB in the league (except maybe Rodgers) at extending a play, keeping his eyes downfield and waiting for WRs to get open late in the route. Unfortunately they have failed to build around his talents. He's absolutely a franchise guy. If I were Luck I'd be furious at the front office for making him take such an unnecessary beating over the years, with no end in sight.

KC - which ALREADY HAS A QUALITY STARTER - made an aggressive move to pick a QB in Round 1, and the Bills passed yet again. This has happened before; among other examples, the Packers drafted Rodgers with Favre still in his prime. There are many teams around the league (Indy, San Diego, etc.) that have managed to find TWO franchise QBs within the two decades that the Bills have not had a single one.

The only way it would happen is if Luck were to turn on the team - like if, for example, the Colts were to mis-manage his injury and force him back out on the field too early... (sound familiar?) But I can't see Irsay being the one to give up on Luck - among other things, they've made marketing investments in Luck and Irsay strikes me as the type of dipschidt owner who would prioritize that sort of thing.
