Truly New Period For Bills With Shady Gone
Coach Tuesday replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are several concepts here that are being jumbled a bit. Media attention versus matchups. Shady brought some media attention. He didn’t really create matchup advantages for the offense on a consistent basis the past couple of seasons. And having a great running back isn’t always the same as having a great running game. You can have one without the other... -
Last year would've been 2nd and 9, with a Ducasse hold making it 1st and 19...

[Name Only Title] Bryan Hoyer

Man you’ve got some funny opinions sometimes... -
I will add - there were several times last season where McCoy gave less than full effort in pass protection. If he was being relegated to part-time play, the staff might be worried he’d check out mentally and fail to give complete effort picking up blitzers etc.

Kiko requests a trade (update: Traded to Saints)
Coach Tuesday replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He got his wish - he was traded to the Saints for Vince Biegel (whom I believe was one of TSW’a favorite prospects coming out of college). -
I get wanting to keep the offense on schedule, and wanting to give Singletary playing time to develop him, and how having to cater to Shady’s ego and all-or-nothing running style would get in the way of those aims. The roll-forward will help with next year’s anticipated free agency spending bonanza. I also think that (allegedly) paying someone to break into his ex’s house might have been the last off-field straw for OBD, and they might finally feel like they’ve got a culture established where they don’t need to accommodate a “star” player of declining talent. But boy, they’d better be right with their assessments of Shady’s decline and Singletary’s talent. There have been too many instances over the years of the Bills surprisingly jettisoning players on the eve of the season only to have it quickly explode in their faces. Ralph Wilson LOVED himself a late August salary dump when the season tickets had already been locked in. And no offense (pun intended) but there has been little evidence that Beane & Co. understands how to evaluate talent on offense. They are really moving their chips into the middle with this move: if the Chiefs win the Super Bowl led by a QB the Bills effectively traded to them, and a running back the Bills effectively gifted them, and a wide receiver the Bills didn’t feel like paying, and the Bills don’t win a bunch more games themselves this year... look out. All of that said, McCoy looked slower to me in his few preseason appearances. He may well be shot.

you are failing us Doc - this thread is some of your worst work ever

This is a product of the unnecessary raise he was given to buy in to the “process.” Ideally he would still be here on his more affordable deal. He was at least a guy you needed to gameplan for. Not a fan of this move at all.

Bodine traded to the Patriots for a 6th round pick

Amazing to think that Mills, Ducasse, Bodine and Teller played important roles last season. Just shocking. -
Bills Players Kneeling in End Zone
Coach Tuesday replied to Bills4Ever4Life's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
What a time to be alive. -
Marlowe could be added and released repeatedly throughout the season - he’s that kind of player for us. J. Johnson is too valuable and risky to expose to waivers.

Why I think DiMarco makes it: Albert Breer’s Gameplan For whatever reason I can’t post the text, but basically Shanahan says that having a versatile fullback forces the defense into advantageous personnel groupings for the offense. I’m pretty sure Daboll feels the same way. So while fans here keep focusing on what DiMarco can and cannot do as a player, the better analysis is what having DiMarco on the field does to create formations and matchups Daboll hopes to exploit.
