Bobby Babich to call Bills' Defense
Coach Tuesday replied to Sierra Foothills's topic in The Stadium Wall
McD has a lot of help this year. He has coordinators calling plays on offense and defense, he has a replay assistant and an ex-official helping with rules and technique. Hoping this all frees him up to improve his big-picture strategy and decision-making. -
“Jets are in complete disarray” - B/R Article
Coach Tuesday replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not a shot at the OP, more a shot at modern media generally - this is not a "B/R article" - Bleacher Report just took one snippet from this article in this morning's Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5629974/2024/08/29/nfl-agent-survey-best-worst-franchises-patrick-mahomes-dak-prescott/ B/R just took one quote from an agent in the article and are using it to generate their own headlines and revenue from it. -
Interesting. Both Cine and Rapp are two high-pedigreed safeties trying to resurrect their careers in Buffalo. It’s the perfect spot for them to do that.

This is beyond debate. Their college and (especially) pro personnel track record with receivers has been really poor. Have to do some self-correction here.

Bills acquire Jets DB and return man Brandon Codrington
Coach Tuesday replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's a curious move from the Jets' standpoint if he's really a difference-maker. The Jets DIRECTED him to the Bills - they made sure, basically for free, that no other team but the Bills could have him. If he wins a single game for us this season it's a terrible move from the Jets' standpoint, but you have to wonder why they'd do something like this if he was truly special. -
Then it's another failure of their scouting process. This regime just always seems to be overpaying for assets that should be easy to find on the cheap (special teams specialists, running backs, 5th and 6th d linemen) and underinvesting in skill positions on offense. Every single offseason. They HAVE to get their process fixed now that Allen's cap number is significant - but they don't even seem to have self-awareness or urgency about it. Instead, to use the Onion headline, it's "No way to prevent this" says the only team this regularly happens to.

He is one of the least efficient WRs I’ve ever seen. Robert Royal 2.0.
-
Again the Jets literally directed him to us - they made sure we could have him, for basically free, and that no other team would have a chance to get him. And the Bills’ special teams decision making during this regime has been a disaster, whether because of bad luck (Ariza, Hines) or moronic roster management. Maybe you’re right and he takes over the league as a returner this year but Hardy can straight up ball on defense.
-
I hope you’re right. His metrics don’t suggest that he’s doing the work himself - not exactly a speedster. Happy to be wrong about their choices today. Also I find it hard to believe the Jets are just giving away an elite returner to a division rival. Literally they’d be better off cutting him and taking the chance he signs elsewhere if he’s some kind of phenom.
-
He should’ve been kept over the scrub they traded for today. Who also won’t see the field at CB.
-
And Beane is very stubborn about his process and what he wants on his roster.
-
There is almost zero chance Hardy doesn’t get claimed. This was a mistake.
-
They LOVE their crappy overpaid vets on the d line. Like obsessed with them.
-
They released Hardy?!?!

Tim Patrick please (On his way to Detroit)

He was released. -
Bills acquire Jets DB and return man Brandon Codrington
Coach Tuesday replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mostly agree. Except the Bills traded for Chris Watson on cutdown day and he single-handedly cost them wins! -
He is the reason Beane needs to stop wasting Day 2 and high Day 3 picks on RBs. You can find a guy like Gore Jr. in the $1 CD bin. God forbid both Cook and Davis got hurt, they'd probably be almost just as fine with Gore Jr.

Ah - thanks for the clarification. That’s much more tradeable than $9M. -

I would be shocked if anyone is trading for that contract. Denver will have to take on some of his salary if they’re hoping to get a pick in return. -
Cuts, Waiver Claims & 90 man roster depth: A study
Coach Tuesday replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only way Gore gets claimed is if his dad convinces one of his buddies on another team's coaching staff to give him a roster spot. Highly unlikely but that would be the way. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 3

And then they’d have to pay him…
