Week 12: Broncos at Bills Postgame Thread
Coach Tuesday replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Per Joe B: He wasn’t without his faults, as Allen committed his first interception since Week 5 — though the encouraging part is that there was a great deal of thought behind the interception. “The coverage that I thought they were in was quarters, and their safety was committing to the run. That’s our cue to kind of put it over the top, and my eyes were on (the safety) and I didn’t see the backside safety moving post high,” Allen said. “They disguised it well, they made a play. Obviously it’s one that I want back, but it’s one that I’d probably do again.” The interception isn’t the desired result, but that line of thinking shows the inherent progress Allen is making in diagnosing defenses — needing Denver to disguise it to make the error. It’s a negative and a positive play all at once because he’s thinking through the play at an advanced level, which will teach the quarterback to look for those coverages moving forward. Allen did have another turnover-worthy throw that he got away with but protected the ball otherwise. He continues to shows signs of improvement, even through errors, to help the Bills come away with a victory. -

They disguised the coverages, it’s in Joe B’s article in The Athletic. Backside safety shifted over to the post at the last second and Allen didn’t see him. -
Lawson’s first sack looked like a nature video. He straight up stalked Brandon Allen like a tiger stalking a gazelle or whatever tigers eat. Good to see Shaq finally taking more ownership over his career. I’d like to see him re-upped because I don’t think he’s hit his ceiling yet - would also like to see his conditioning improve a bit. You don’t see many edge rushers with straight up beer guts. Spend less time at his alma mater and more time in the gym. But he’s a high-energy player and his best attribute might be his wingspan - dude tips a lot of passes and when he doesn’t get a hand on them, he screws up the passing lanes, an underrated impact.

Still worried about the Bills' offense?

Is anybody still worried about Ed Oliver? He beat up on Risner today, a pretty good guard. -

Has there been a single game this year where the other team’s QB looked materially better than Josh? -

Good article on Josh (The Ringer)
Coach Tuesday replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again: Josh's high degree of self-awareness, introspection and intellect give him as much of a chance to be successful as his physical traits, if not more so. It's what gives me hope. Lots of strong-armed athletes have flamed out of the NFL quickly. Josh puts in the work to critique, think about and improve his game. Golf is a good analogy for him. I like him more and more every day. -
Would you say they're supple?
-
If you say so? Can't say I've experienced it.

This year's Reggie Germany. There's always a backup/fringe WR the fans become completely obsessed with.

Ty Nsekhe injury - Updated to “day to day”

Curse you! -
Good point but a few things in response - I think Goff is holding back Goff - he’s just not very talented. McVay was propping him up but it’s not like a video game - eventually the QB is supposed to learn to read the coverages himself, the presnap talking should help not hinder - Goff might just be limited. Also isn’t Daboll’s offense supposed to be concept-based? Josh needs to learn the concepts, even if Daboll is telling him what protections and plays to run on a given down. From Daboll’s comments it sounds like he gets it. Finally - Josh’s intellect is an underrated part of his game. If Allen makes it it may end up being as much because of his brain as it is because of his physical abilities. I guess I’m saying it doesn’t trouble me in the least at this stage in Allen’s career if Daboll is barking things into his mic presnap.

MNF: Chiefs vs Chargers from Mexico City
Coach Tuesday replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The turf is a mess already - compete hazard to the players. Not that the league cares. -
This is a tough game because it will put the two biggest weak spots - run defense and pass pro - to the test. Lindsay is the kind of back that gives the Bills a really hard time - he's patient in the backfield and explosive when he reaches the second level. And Fangio will scheme some difficulties for Josh, including weird pre-snap disguises. Fangio is smart enough to take away John Brown - Allen will have to go through his progressions to find someone else, all while hoping Ford holds up in his assignment against Von Miller. The Bills should win this game but it's far from an easy one.

I think the union boss happens also to be incompetent...

Amazingly the NFL changed the rule on PI and then put the union boss in charge of reviewing his union employees - the rubber-stamping is completely predictable. The NFL is such a backwater of a company.
