  1. Beane was referring to the remake of the offense last offseason as a “rebuild” IIRC. He took ownership for bungling the offense in 2018 and acknowledged the need to rebuild the offensive line and WR group.
  2. The thing is Dave, Murphy did that all year - he was selling out the run and chasing sacks all year. He repeatedly lost contain. Shaq isn’t as explosive off the snap but at least he sets the edge and for whatever reason, Shaq is super explosive when he gets near the ball carrier - he’s a slow starter and fast finisher. I’m not saying it’s either/or necessarily. But Murphy is a liability IMO. The risks he takes don’t justify the upside IMO.
  3. How does any of that ensure that we land Josh McCown?
  4. That's kind of an odd move if he was well thought-of at OBD. Also, he looks like a police sketch...
  5. I don't necessarily want to get rid of him. I just want him to set the edge ONCE. He drove me nuts this year with the peeking inside.
  6. I don’t necessarily want to cut him but he never once kept his contain this season and that’s likely because he was pressing and gambling because he knows his explosiveness is sapped from the injuries.
  7. Patterson is a good comp - except from what I've seen he has legit ball-tracking skills. Watching clips yesterday I thought he looked like a combination of Patterson and Steve Smith. He goes and gets it. I could be wrong but he doesn't look too raw to me.
  8. Actually Frank "Skates" Gore wins that award this year. Yes, I suppose McK might have fallen down during his 70 yard nearly-untouched sprint toward the end zone... I mean, it was basically set up as a punt return with one guy to beat... but sure, he might've fallen down.
  9. Agreed. That PC was an A+ performance by both of them. Beane admitted he screwed up not giving Allen a better line and weapons in 2018 - he basically said that outright. The "rebuild" he referred to was this past offseason's attempt to right those wrongs. Gotta give him credit for owning that, and he recognizes that Allen "doing too much" is a direct consequence of not giving him enough playmakers he can trust. That PC was night and day what we saw in years past. Literally 180 degrees away from Whaley's epic "I'm not privy to that" faceplant. Today was a good look for OBD. (BTW Sullivan's tweet shows a stunning lack of self-awareness or judgment. It's one thing to think that to yourself - but to tweet it out? What an all-time ass.)
  10. Weird - they just requested permission to interview Garrett (who is technically under contract) - did they panic when Ruhle got scooped up?
  11. There's that McKenzie play I've been ranting about - would've taken it to the house, most likely, but Josh throws it into the dirt. Frustrating.
  12. Beane grinning like they just won the Super Bowl...
  13. He also said no coaching changes expected. Farwell survives.
  14. I'm just glad they were entertaining to watch for a full four months. Was a really welcome change, and we deserved it.
  15. Mine as well. RAC is off-the-charts good. Daboll seems to want chain-movers, not deep threats or giants. He's perfect.
  16. Fair (separate, as I said) question, but I'm guessing they wanted to force Houston to take a CB out and put a LB in, in order to give them a better look in the passing game. Allen needs to understand the situation there - as dumb as these coaches are (and they're dumb, IMO), I find it very hard to believe they wanted Allen to check to the run there as if it were an either/or scenario. I'd be shocked. He must've been coached to throw the ball away in that scenario if he didn't get the look they needed.
  17. Right? It seems like that's the sweet spot the Ravens have been working with for like a decade, waiting for quality playmakers to fall to them.
  18. Because any idiot can hand the ball off and let a talented back do the work - a genius can scheme midgets open downfield. I guess. The less-cynical explanation is that he was trying to take advantage of the Texans' weak secondary and was totally disconnected from what was happening down on the field, i.e., his young QB having a mental meltdown and needing COACHING. (It boggles my mind that anyone would consider hiring Daboll for HC after Saturday.)
  19. Agreed and it shouldn't go unsaid that he did all of this in the midst of interviewing for HC openings. Throwing 46 times when you have a job interview scheduled for the next day is an interesting coincidence...
  20. Respectfully, there is no way in hell that the Bills' playcallers drove the entire length of the field, often in "no huddle" and all of it at a quick pace, took a timeout, and then expected Allen to audible to a run to Gore. If they did, they should be fired. It's borderline fireable that Gore is even on the field in that situation but that's another matter. I have been very critical of these coaches but they were definitely calling plays to score a TD there.
  21. Really?? Look at that first shot you posted (and thank you btw). There is no way McK is going to be caught from behind. He's got a corner to worry about off to the right, but a decent block by the WR deals with him. It looks like the FS is way downfield and potentially could stop him, but he'd have to take the exact right angle and it's by no means an easy tackle in open field given McK's speed - and even then it would've been a monster gain. You really don't see it that way??
  22. Yes!!! That's the one. McKenzie would've smoked those two LBs, zero question. They're trailing him and he's way faster. The only threat is the CB and a decent block by the other WR takes him out of the play. The throw needs to hit him in the chest and it's an easy one at that. That play was Game Over if Allen hits it. OMG I can't stop looking at it. I was right, look at all of that daylight. Unreal. Brutal. EDOT: I guess the safety is down there too, now that I look closer - but it's at least a huge gain and very possibly a score. My point was Daboll's schemes are better than he gets credit for, given the talent he's working with.
  23. Second play I believe. I’m expecting the All-22 to confirm what I saw. 3rd and 3. Allen rolled out and hit McKenzie low and he fell while catching him. As best I could see, if Allen makes that throw (a simple one) there is 70 yards of daylight in front and it’s the biggest play of the year. EDIT might've been the 3rd and 9 play. Would really love to see the video of that. An accurate pass would've gone the distance from what I could tell. My point is that there are options on most passing plays and given the state of the Bills' receiving corps, that's impressive and a feather in Daboll's cap. I'd be careful about moving on from him but if their hand is forced, there are some good options out there (Shurmur).
