Put another way: he makes his bosses look good. Been awhile.

Coach extensions or lack thereof are basically optics. They don't impact the salary cap. Owners give extensions to demonstrate faith in the direction of the team. Owners withhold extensions to send a message that they want to see better results. It's very rare that an owner sticks with a bad coach because of a contract - owners assume the risk that they'll have to pay (or partially pay) a coach they end up firing.

They are trying to build a strong and stable program. I don’t fault them for that. IMO McD’s greatest strength is his ability to adapt and move on from bad decisions. He’s shown he’s willing to fire a guy like Castillo who was loyal to him but who underperformed. He made the wise decision to go back to Tyrod after going with the horrible recommendation of his OC to give Peterman the nod. His biggest negative is that he hasn’t really beat Belichick. I’m fine with the contract extension. If McD continues to improve it will be well worth it. If the team falters it will be because Allen doesn’t develop and McD will likely get one more shot at a QB pairing before the blame shifts to him.

You knew the SEC wouldn’t cancel their season

I just hope they have fans in the stadium, it’s a big reason I watch the SEC broadcasts. Nothing else like it. -

Seahawks trade for Jamal Adams

You’re ignoring the salary cap. Low first round picks are highly cost-controlled assets. Trading two of those for a non-premium player whom you’re now going to have to give a rich contract to makes little sense cap-wise. It’s one thing to do it for a left tackle but a box safety?!?! -

Again, he is just average against the pass. He will help them defend the Niners’ running game but will struggle against passing teams like the Rams. And it’s a passing league. Maybe Schneider and Carroll are going all in for one more run this year or next (and maybe the prediction that Russell Wilson gets traded in a year or two comes to pass). -

Two first round picks for a non-premium position?? For a box safety who can’t play the pass? Who isn’t signed long-term? Are you kidding me? Schneider and O’Brien have wrecked the league market with the Tunsil and Adams trades. I’d say the Jets fleeced the ‘Hawks but this doesn’t help this regime. They get worse, their best player just torched the place and got rewarded for it, and their head coach isn’t well-liked by the players. Plus, I’d bet a nickel Greggo is going to secretly moan to the media about Adams being taken away from him - because Greggo is all about Greggo and this move makes his job much harder this year, ergo another dent in his genius armor. Plus the latest ownership debacle - that team is a tire fire. -

In the future people are going to pay $$ for their branded avatars to sit in the front row of sporting events. Influencers (with enhanced features), crazy video-game-like holograms, commercial brand ambassadors, etc. Change is coming fast.
