No Bill, I do not condone lighting businesses on fire. Neither does the NFL. There is an argument to be made that allowing people to protest peacefully - even if their message and timing offends you - lets off steam and helps prevent more destructive forms of expression. Saying that is not the same as justifying it. As for the OP, he has made his feelings about the protests known here and elsewhere and IMO this thread was a totally unnecessary multiplication of this tired discussion in which no one ever convinces anyone else of anything. Minds are made up, including it seems yours.

I think this is accurate. He kind of mails it in now, writing columns while sipping lattes in his Brooklyn loft. He’s just not plugged in like he used to be and gets clicks based on his brand, not his scoops. Albert Breer is a much better read.

But you know that isn’t the issue. We have had about 100 threads about “keeping politics out of sports.” Here. On a sports message board. We have had about 100 threads about “I’m tuning out sports.” Here. On a sports message board. Do you really fail to see the irony?

He literally said that though in a Q and A column. I’ll try to dig it up. Stunned me. Someone asked him why he didn’t cover the Bills as much and his response was, “I guess I just find that organization to be boring” or something to that effect.

I’m still waiting to hear a single person say, “I totally support and agree with the message, I just hate mixing sports and politics so I’m going to boycott it.” What an amazing coincidence that the “separate sports and politics” crowd uniformly disagrees with the politics. Crazy how life works!

He says he doesn’t think the Pats will be able to overcome losing four linebackers. But then ends with kind of a “we’ll see.” He always overrates the ex-Pats players and coaches - does it every single year. He’s a huge homer.

What “triggered” me Bill was that we’ve had about 100 threads in the past year about how athletes speaking up for social causes is inappropriate, ruining the game, and causing folks to tune out. We did not need another one. This has been discussed ad nauseum. We are now one week away from what should be a very exciting season of Bills football and we did not and do not need yet another thread saying the exact same thing, which by the way are always started by posters who just happen to disagree with the political message at issue. We get it - some of you cannot stand the message and will tune out. Just do it already and let the rest of us enjoy the season.

King worships the Patriots. He always picks the former Patriots coaches to win in their new gigs, until they faceplant which they nearly always do. King also admitted last year that he finds the Bills boring in response to a question about why he doesn’t give them more coverage. I’m not a big media bias guy but in this case, it’s basically admitted.
