These coaches are horrendous. Complete meatheads. -

What exactly is the real story with Mike Edwards?
Coach Tuesday replied to Jukester's topic in The Stadium Wall
The story is that Beane’s pro personnel dept is really bad at their jobs. Close to $6m pissed away this offseason on Mike Edwards and MVS. If you add in Hollins and Samuel it starts to look hideous. -
He is playing it like he did in basketball, waiting to see how the defender is leaning and then trying to uncover the opposite way. It’s what he knows right now. He just needs more time dude.

What is Greg Rousseau worth?
Coach Tuesday replied to Kingston Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am interested to see how the season plays out. Admittedly I expected more from him this year than what we’ve seen so far, but I don’t think the full story is written yet. -

He is not a free agent this offseason. -

That's right, yes. But am I correct that they cannot negotiate an extension for Rousseau right now? -
You are completely missing my point. I am not comparing him to Coleman - I would've drafted both. And in no universe is a starting boundary receiver worth less than a backup running back.

It can’t be done already they exercised next year’s option. With Edmunds they declined it. -
Carter is the player I feel the worst about - I just don’t see much of a ceiling there. Hope he proves me wrong of course. Agree re Davis - who I really like and liked in the draft - he’s not materially different from Ty Johnson (or Ty Chandler or Raymond Chandler). You can find these guys anywhere.

He is going to get around $18-$22M per season, that's what the market is going to pay for him. Personally I DO think he's worth that for the Bills.- 107 replies

Completely disagree with this btw. A backup RB and backup interior D lineman are not "looking better" than a starting boundary receiver who last night was featured in the game plan.

Draft both!!
-
Correct - for the price of a backup interior defensive lineman, Beane could’ve drafted a starting outside receiver he met with and reportedly was high on. And for the price of a backup safety he likely could’ve traded up for Brian Thomas Jr. He could (and in my opinion should) have done BOTH. This is the type of resource mis-allocation that seems to happen every single year here and this year resulted in them having to give away a third rounder for a half-year rental (granted they probably would’ve spent that third rounder on a running back or d tackle anyhow). Did you watch the game? He looks like a more than capable boundary receiver. Sutton btw got zero targets. How much did Beane squander on the combination of MVS, Hollins and now Cooper for half a year?

Looked really good last night. Beane messed this one up.

The Bills Defense is Last in Rushing Yards / Attempt
Coach Tuesday replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
And they did that. You have to wonder where Bishop is at right now - I think they may have expected him to be starting as a rookie. The injury delayed him a bit but if he can put it together quickly the defense should improve. Rapp also seems to be playing with more confidence. Hamlin is not the answer. -
This is what keeps getting overlooked in these discussions. This offseason did not take place in a vacuum. There were plenty of opportunities prior to this offseason to invest in young receivers to eventually (or quickly) take the reins from Diggs (or better yet add options in addition to Diggs). This regime constantly talks itself into other priorities - every offseason they need to draft a running back and overpay a middling veteran d lineman or three. It is the Curse of Dave Gettleman. It seemingly just never occurs to them to leverage their best asset and lean into it: their generational QB. They are meatheads, pure and simple, just like their mentor.

This. They seem to have talked themselves into a closed loop of internal misevaluation this offseason: that the defense would be good enough to keep games close and the offense wouldn’t need to add weapons because of that, and could win games through scheme, variety and run/pass balance on offense. But also that opposing teams would need to be pass-heavy against them because the Bills would be winning the game because of their offense. The first three games gave them hope that they had been correct, and then the wheels came off fast.
