  1. They are run like a used car dealership. Gotta hit those Q1 numbers boys!
  2. Beane specifically said he wants to add a YAC-monster to the offense. I don't think re-signing MacKenzie accomplishes that objective. Landry isn't that, either.
  3. Not the speed element I've been hoping for. Great run blocker though.
  4. Their potential solution at RT just hit the market…
  5. Yup. He's heavy-footed and doesn't fit what they want to do. Expect Cody Ford to follow him off the roster, perhaps by trade.
  6. Here ya go. "If the Bills move on from Williams, it could also signal that they would like to use more zone blocking principles. New offensive line coach Aaron Kromer, who most recently worked under Sean McVay with the Rams — an offense known for those principles. A zone blocking scheme favors athleticism ahead of power, needing the linemen to adapt and get to the second-level quickly or move off their spot to protect their area. Unfortunately, these are not Williams’ strengths. He is more of a power blocker with heavier feet than the rest of the offensive line. It’s also not McDermott’s first time hiring someone with a zone-blocking background. His first offensive coordinator hire, Rick Dennison, spent almost his entire career with Mike Shanahan. As a defensive coach, McDermott likely believes those offenses are extremely difficult to defend."
  7. Not a surprise at all actually. Doesn't fit Kromer's preferred scheme. Joe B did a good write up on this.
  8. I get the sense Beane is the type of guy who has stubbornly worn the same pair of jeans nearly every day for the past 25 years. “They’re falling apart, sure, and they haven’t been in style ever, but they’re so durn comfortable I just don’t see why I’d ever part with ‘em!”
  9. No kidding I could see Beasley in Tampa Bay now.
  10. And even Williams then ate himself from an underpaid tackle to an overpaid guard.
  11. But part of the OP’s point is that you don’t have to go big on Day 1 of FA - but if you do, and you’re probably going to have to overpay, sign the right guys. There are opportunity costs involved in signing the wrong guys, even if you don’t vastly overpay. I know you don’t hate that Star contract, whereas I think it’s the worst free agent contract in franchise history - mainly because of opportunity cost involved. That stupid signing has come back to bite them each of the past now THREE offseasons. When you consider the moves they couldn’t make because they felt the need to chase Star, that deal has been an abject disaster. Slightly overpaying do-called ST mavens means they didn’t allocate the money to positions of greater value. And relatedly - can you think of a single recent Bills free agent signee who has actually out-performed his contract? There have been none of them which is very odd. The only recent FA to out-perform has been Poyer, who predated Beane - and as a result of all of that Poyer successfully leveraged for a raise last offseason.
  12. Post more often. Spot on. Many of Beane’s free agent signings have been on par with those of his predecessors at OBD. When you consider that Poyer and Hyde were pre-Beane acquisitions it really highlights the issue - this much-hyped pro personnel department has yet to earn its money or reputation to date. This is really a critical offseason and they cannot afford to repeat past mistakes - it will end up all on the shoulders of JA17 yet again.
  13. The Browns franchised their number 2 tight end then traded for a $20M number 2 receiver. They’re off to an interesting start to the offseason…
  14. Cowboys already in contact with Wagner.
  15. Gotta add Joneses to keep up with the Joneses…
  16. My point is that despite all the rumors and hype, the Bills sat out free agency and trades last year after basically announcing that they’d be doing so. I expect more of the same this year.
  17. You don’t remember the JJ Watt rumors? Clowney? Sammy Watkins’ return? Also Beane has basically already said the same thing about this year’s free agency.
  18. Do folks not remember all the early March/Combine free agency hype surrounding the Bills last year? All the “big splash” rumors that were discussed endlessly here for weeks? Then they resigned some of their own players and a new (terrible) punter and called it a day. Prepare to be disappointed. If you’re feeling whelmed now, take the under.
  19. Good for SD, they need someone to chase Wilson and Mahomes around. Hopefully the AFC West will wear itself out. The Bills are gonna need that, because they are run like a used car dealership.
  20. There are linebackers in this draft that could be had from rounds 2-5 who could probably step in and replace what the Bills are getting from Edmunds - maybe not the same combination of physical traits but their instincts may be better.
