Tailgating vs New England

Congratulations on the move, and more importantly your new truck. YE OLE salutes you, my good fellow. -
Nobody is Picking the Bills...
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mr. Bandito, if we win we're really going to have reevaluate our goals for this season. If we take this game on Sunday and move to 3-0, we may actually have to entertain the notion of competing for the division, as opposed to hoping to get back to mediocrity following last year's debacle. Also, "The Living Legend" Sterling Sharpe picked us to win this week on NFL Network. So clearly he is a sound football mind and the so called "experts" you have heard are MAROONS! -
So I watched "A Football Life"

The interesting thing about Belichick is that he is a defensive guru, yet the Patriots of recent years are known as this high flying, offensive team. Despite Belichick's pedigree on the defensive side of the ball, the Patriots defense has been average at best for a while now. You have to believe without a big time QB their team would be quite average. On the other hand, they won 11 games with Matt Cassel. But, YE OLE does find it intriguing that for as great a defensive architect Belichick has been known to be that the Patriots defense has gotten so porous. -
YE OLE saw this piece as well, and it was great to see how Sterling was really digging our offense. It seemed like their overall analysis was similar to those of here on this board in that we're concerned about stopping the Pats*, but are confident we'll put up points. At least all of the talking heads aren't just assuming we'll get "housed" every week at this point.

TOP 100 NFL PLAYERS for 2011
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who made it? That "slideshow" format is a bit much for a 100 player list. When the 2nd slide already brought up a pop up ad, YE OLE had to call it quits and request the cliff note version. -
We're definitely dealing with some "fancy" gents here in Fancy Dan and Tom Terrific... but YE OLE has to give the edge to Brady here. This Uggs thing is beyond the pail. That post game presser last week where Tom was sporting that cardigan to complement his flowing locks was pretty "fancy" as well.

YE OLE is in the same boat with endless "honey do" lists during the week. But, I have to admit, this has been fun this year. The weeks are dragging a bit until game day this year it seems. Take a page from YE OLE's playbook my good fellow... I just tell the Mrs. "Now look, these lists are real important and all, but there's Bills football to deal with here, so I need to hit the board for a while and these chores will just have to get done when they get done..."

Wow, Seahawks OLB Aaron Curry demoted to
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to JStranger76's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
YE OLE recalls Curry being a big time player out of Wake Forest, but has he done much in the NFL? -
All of New England's secondary is banged up
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The last line I saw on this game had the Over at 51.5 That just seems ridiculously low to me. YE OLE would love nothing more than for our defense to come out and dominate, but my brain tells me that there is going to be very little defense played on Sunday. -
Tedy Bruschi on Fitz
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's stuff like this that just reminds YE OLE how badly we need this one Sunday. It's a decade of Tedy Bruschi, Belichick, Brady, and everyone associated with that organization that exudes this kind of arrogance. Fitzpatrick has the ability to rip New England's secondary a new on on Sunday. We know it and they know it. -

YE OLE just got done watching a clip of this they showed on AFC Playbook. That was some real high octave stuff for a man with a lumberjack beard! -
"Go out and expect to be great"
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As YE OLE recalls, they were "cardiac kids" that year as well. Wasn't that the year Mike Brown made all the game winning plays and last second heroics? -
Bills have not Agreed to Pay Jasper
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to Malazan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
YE OLE doesn't know if you'd call Jasper a FRANCHISE left tackle... but the guy's a winner, bottom line. -
Bengals Still Keeping it Real

I just saw this come across ESPN a bit ago. It said 6 pounds of "the whacky weed" was found on site, but no arrests were made. 6 pounds?! -

Giants slowing down the Ram's game
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to Phil Hansen Forever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When Grant and the other guy both just folded like a deck of cards at the same time it was just ridiculous. Then the other guy looks over and is like "whoops" and gets back up when he sees Grant already took a dive. It was comically bad. It puts the league in a bad spot, because on one hand it's always been part of the game to an extent, but this was so blatant it was absurd. On the other hand, it's given the issues with player safety in this day and age, Goodell is treading on thin ice, IMO, attempting to impose harsh punishment for "fakers" How does the league intend to prove whether a player is really cramping or not? -
One thing remains a constant with this team
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It sounds like Stevie and Fitz are going to get extended. Given the Kyle Williams extension and IF these two guys get extended without a hitch, I won't be overly concerned. I'm not ready to jump off a bridge like OP, but I'll admit, I've had visions of losing Fitz in free agency. Things are moving in the right direction, but I wouldn't quite put it past this franchise just yet. -
YE OLE was extremely underwhelmed with the Gailey/Nix combo. In all fairness we were talking Buffalo Bill Cowher leading up to it, and Gailey's name wasn't even on the radar. Admittedly I didn't know much about Gailey, but I've been extremely impressed. Even last year, despite going 4-12, you could see the offense making huge strides. I still remember the day I read the news that we signed a free agent QB named Ryan Fitzpatrick. I had 0 expectation that he would even be a good backup. Seeing him develop into what he's becoming, it's hard to believe he wasn't wanted elsewhere. He has that intangible "IT" factor written all over him, IMO.
-
These are the things that continue to impress YE OLE more and more. QB's don't make it in this league without being able to read defense, and the ones who are great at reading defense tend to be great QB's. Fitz, while he isn't Peyton Manning, does have some physical tools, but he is very good at reading defense. Look how long Chad Pennington remained a decent QB in this league, despite a poor arm. YE OLE has been on the Fitz bandwagon, and I'm excited to see where it goes this year. Hearing Fred say this is even more exciting.

Prediction Thread
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to Overseas Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
YE OLE had a bad feeling about this one at the beginning of the week, but as we get closer YE is gaining confidence. I will say... take the over, I can see this one giving us all a heart attack and coming down to last team with the ball wins. 41-38 Bills Maybe we can even get Marv to say "THE FACIAL!" once during the telecast. -
Matt Miller's Bleach Report Week 3 Pick
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seems to YE OLE that any time a team is down trodden they automatically rely on a "power running game." It's become synonymous with "piss poor offense." Obviously we've had our struggles on offense until recently so the uninformed have stuck with this. "Oh we have to write about the Bills? Uh... well they rely on the ground game... they'll need to keep it in the ground and hope to keep the score close" Being in Michigan, YE OLE had the pleasure of getting the Lions broadcast for preseason game #4 and those ass hats said the same thing. In addition to talking about how over matched we were, they went on to say our bread and butter was really pounding that ground attack, and how we struggle getting anything going through the air. Anyone who watches a Chan Gailey offense in action, especially with the success Fitz has had over the past year knows we spread the field and sling the ball around a fair bit. No knock on Freddie, he's been stellar. But clearly the run is set up and the bread is buttered by spreading the defense out and throwing the ball to a myriad of receivers. -
