  1. True enough, my good man. YE OLE thinks Marv's old adage, "When it's too tough for them, it's just right for us" applies to this team for the first time in a long time. It's refreshing to see the other team unraveling down the stretch for a change.
  2. There is something strangely prophetic about Chan's "You dog one of us, you dog all of us speech" from last year's training camp. This group seems very tight knit and ready to go to battle for each other. It lends toward their resiliency in these come backs. Some of that may have been due to addition by subtraction as well.
  3. Thanks for posting! Bills are making up for lost coverage. They're all over ESPN this week.
  4. Indeed Dr. Fong. YE OLE was always astonished that the only players of character during the Levy/Jauron era were all undersized and slow. Glad they started making character guys with talent again.
  5. I don't think this team will look past Cincinnati. That '08 team had a much different make up. There's real leadership with this team that was lacking in '08. YE OLE would even hazard a guess that Fitzy fancies himself a bit of a fan in addition to being the QB.
  6. I watched the game, but didn't hear much of the commentary. I can't speak to what was said last night, but for the most part I don't hear people talk about Romo in the elite tier of QB's. Maybe in the 2nd tier. I think he may be overhyped at that even. I don't watch a ton of Cowboys games, but when I see him I see a lot of miscommunication and mishaps. What was the deal with Romo and his center last night? Romo seems to lash out at his teammates frequently as well. I have to question his leadership.
  7. It's a weird sentiment. We've waited so long for another crack at it, that we naturally have apprehension of getting good enough to get back there. I know what you mean though, I was thinking the same kind of thing today. But the fact is, no matter when you get there, there's no guarantees. A lot of people said GB was a good team but a year away from contending last year. Who know where this is headed, but I do know I feel good about this week's game. The more we string together, the more serious things will get.
  8. Both of these guys have been really good so far. It seems like every other play on TV they're replaying Levitre pancaking a defender. Really this whole team is blocking well. That block McIntyre threw on Freddie's TD on the goal line was vicious. It also leads me to question if these players would've made the same progress under the previous regime. (Probably Not)
  9. YE OLE thought exactly the same thing. In fact, I've been so conditioned to it, I didn't even consider the possibility that we would take a knee and run the clock out. I just assumed we were going to punch it next play and have to play some defense. Then Chan took a knee and Belichick came unglued. It was a thing of beauty. We are fortunate to have the coaching staff we have. It's too bad for Chan that he wasn't given another chance sooner. He's a good coach.
  10. judman, my good fellow, you are spot on. There's just a different feel behind this team. This team is showing the ability to come roaring back when things go bad. That's the single biggest difference. That team in '08 didn't have the fire power to overcome mistakes.
  11. I think this game sets up well for us. We've played well against the run so far, and I'm not sure what Benson's status is for the game regarding his whole suspension fiasco. With or without Benson I feel pretty good about the Bengals not gaining a whole lot on the ground. That sets up a rookie QB in Andy Dalton to have to make plays. I actually like Dalton quite a bit, but he's a rookie and I like our chances there. I feel good about this one, but we'll definitely see how focused the team stays through the emotions of a real "signature win"
  12. While a lot of players do walk away for the big pay day, the difference here may be in the past even if the Bills put a competitive offer on the table players didn't want to be here. Be it our own players or UFA's. I'm guessing that will be different if this train keeps rolling.
  13. IMO, it was no accident that so many passes were getting batted around as the game wore on. It was a great technique and great play by Dareus. It's also no accident that nobody's run on us so far this year. Anyone see McFadden rip the Jets D yesterday? Marcell has made a huge impact on this team. Can't say enough good things about that pick. Cue the Herm Edwards voice: You play to win the game! But if not for Stevie's drop we never get this guy.
  14. This is going to be an interesting week. We're one of the better teams in the league right now going on the road to a place where we should win. This is going to be a new test for these boys. It will be very encouraging if they come out and take care of business early.
  15. It's definitely frustrating watching Brady stand back there and not get harassed at all... but then I think the same is true on the other end when we watch Fitz throw the ball all over the place. It seems like in the modern NFL if you have a QB who reads defenses well and makes quick decisions, it's hard to get pressure. That's not to say we don't need a better pass rush. It's definitely a concern, but QB's are putting up eye popping numbers across the board this year. Fitz is on pace to throw for 4500 yards this year and he's ranked 12th in the league. If this keeps up, not only will Marino's record go down this year, but 5-10 guys might break that record. This being the trend thus far leads me to believe that a lot of teams are having issues getting to the QB.
  16. For YE OLE it was when the offense lined up on that last drive. YE was like "Belichick, we're about to give you a little of this, and a little of that, and matriculate down the field and put this one to bed" I haven't been so positive that our offense was going to waltz down the field and score at will since the glory days. And waltz they did, gents... waltz they did. It was a good feeling.
  17. Dan, my good fellow, I think that sums up this team perfectly.
  18. Simple question, gents. Save for the Senator, we've all probably adjusted our predictions a hair bit. Just wondering where the percentages fall on this one. Feel free to post specific predictions and/or elaborate.
  19. It's not unusual for this team to come out flat, period. We really need to stop digging into these huge deficits before turning it on. That said, if we get a complete game on Sunday without stumbling out of the gate, I like our chances. Our defense hasn't been pitching shutouts or anything, but the Bengals scored 8 points last week. I'm pretty confident they're going to need to score a lot more than that to win this game.
  20. YE OLE thought it was pretty decent. It was apparently written by Tom Sartori. There's something about those white helmets... everytime the Bills don them, goal posts inevitably come down.
  21. That's an interesting caveat to the rule. A team could otherwise simply take a strong of penalties and kill the clock. They'd be flinching all over the place out there... maybe take a couple of personal fouls while they're at it, get a few good licks in for good measure.
  22. If only we had your cousin, Capt. Foresight on our side back then.
  23. YE OLE really digs those cardigans Tom's been wearing during the post game. That's some fancy s***, gents!
  24. Not sure who is out there at this point... we're definitely getting pretty thin. Anyone know the latest on McGee? It sounds like Williams will be shelved for a while.
  25. YE OLE found this, and it brought back some memories. It's a good watch, gents!
