  1. So 2 1st's, a 2nd this year, a 3rd next year, Terrel Bernard, and Kaiir Elam for Marvin Harrison Jr? Yeah, no, I'm good. As much as I'd love to have him, we're 52m over the cap. We have to find a starting WR. We also have to find (as I said above) a starting DE, a starting DT (and 3 more for rotation), a starting Safety (possibly 2) - plus other depth for this year. Dodson played OLB this year. He can play MLB, but the drop off from what Bernard was giving us would be massive. And Bernard could develop into even better than he was this year. Next year, 3/5 of our starting OL are FA's. Diggs might be out the door following this season. This scenario would have us having to fill everything else this year with what little cap space we can come up with and no pick higher than Round 3. And then next year having only Rounds 2, 4, and onward - while downgrading MLB. Absolutely cannot afford this in any way, shape, or form.
  2. This is a good point and further points to the ridiculousness of going WR in 2 or all 3 of the first picks - like many are doing here. My focus has been on securing a starting WR in Round 1 and addressing the starting and rotational holes we have elsewhere this season. But it goes deeper than just this year. As you pointed out, past this season - we only have Connor McGovern and O'Cyrus Torrence under contract. While i'd expect an extension for Dion Dawkins, we'll need a new Center and while Spencer Brown was better last season, I'm not sure I'm ready to sign him up for an extension immediately. And behind Dawkins and Brown, we just have Ryan Van Demark, Tommy Doyle (who was on IR all last season and will be a FA himself next year). So long story short, on top of starting holes at DE, DT (and all rotating DT's as Oliver is the only one under contract), S (possibly two if we also move on from Poyer) - we also need to think about the O-Line for this season and especially next. We cannot afford to double down on WR in the first two Rounds and probably not even in Round 3. If we go WR Round 1 as expected, Round 4 should be the earliest we think of a double dip. And there's photos of Josh and his dad decked out in Patriots jerseys at a Pats game. That all goes out the window when it becomes your job.
  3. I suppose nothing is a 0% possibility in the NFL. But this is as close as it gets. Your main argument is they have money. And we don't. But it would cost us money to move on from Diggs and we'd have to replace him on top of it. And if money is no object for them, why not just go out and pay for Texas A&M hero Mike Evans, who wouldn't cost them any Draft compensation? You also completely ignore one of the biggest issues at play here - why would we help 1 of the 3 other teams in the AFC who made it to the Divisional Playoffs? Brandon Beane is someone who is careful and looks at all possibilities. And it's easily possible if he made that trade that he'd have to stand up at a Podium at the end of the year and explain why he handed the Texans a weapon that helped eliminate us from the Playoffs. If he paid money to give a competing team a player that booted us from the Playoffs - that's a fireable offense. Your argument that maybe they look at Nico Collins as someone they wouldn't want to pay is dubious at best. If you Draft a guy, who at 24 years old is #8 in the NFL in Yardage, no GM would evaluate that and say "not worth paying". You don't see Top 10 WR's at that age on the market, like ever. Teams don't do that. Especially when your young QB became a star using that player as his #1 option and they're growing together. At 24, he could still get even better than he was this year. No GM is going to make it harder on themselves to bring back an ascending 24 year old star to bring in a 31 year old star. This whole concept you're arguing is a myriad of malpractice by both Brandon Beane and Nick Caserio. And comparing trades in the NFL to trades in the NBA really doesn't help the validity of your arguments.
  4. Amen. Beane isn't going to do a massive trade up. Though given both his past with moving up a few spots for the guy he wants, the amount of picks we have, and with missing out last season after a run of FOUR WR's going in a row - I almost expect him to move up 2-3 picks to make sure he gets the guy he loves. But with Diggs (who isn't going anywhere, no matter how hard some people confusingly want to try to move on from him right now), Shakir, and Kincaid in house already, the addition of a 1st Round Pick, the amount of holes we have to fill, and the depth at WR in this Draft - I also see Round 4 as the soonest we should double dip our toes back into the water at WR. Get your #2, future #1 WR in Round 1. Get young starters at DL and S in Rounds 2 and 3. Don't spend a Day 2 pick on a WR who won't be better than 5th in targets behind Diggs, Round 1, Shakir, and Kincaid this season. Especially when we need Starters at 3, possibly 4 spots on Defense. And like I said, given the depth of the class, a Round 4 WR could still turn out to be very good.
  5. Honestly, outside of Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley, I don't know if there's a RB I'd rather have right now. But even with them clearly being the best in the NFL, that's only when they're healthy. Plus they're 3 years older with much more wear and tear. So even they would give me some pause. Cook is 24 years old and entering just Year 3 with a pristine bill of health. He's shown a steady growth of development and could get even better. Those facts make him extremely valuable beyond just the stats. Kenneth Walker is pretty great. I'm a fan. But he didn't put up the numbers that Cook did last year. His Rookie year was underwhelming and facilitated Seattle to spend another 2nd Round Pick on Zach Charbonnet the following year. I don't know if I'd straight up trade Cook for him, but it's very, very close. Breece Hall, is close. But his having a torn ACL right out of the gate would have me passing. I think there's people on this board who fell head over heels in love with him Pre-Draft and still hold a torch. Truth is, as @HappyDays said, he's got straight line speed. Other than that, I'm not convinced he's as versatile or elusive as Cook is. I was a big fan of Kamara, but he'll be 29 this year and the past couple years have seen a fall off. Cook reminds me of prime Kamara and could become that next season. Kamara is on the downswing now. Def wouldn't take him over Cook. The rest of the list, no. Not even really a question to me with those guys. Bijan Robinson is an interesting case. I think he could potentially be better and the pedigree coming out of College would have said it was a no brainer. But idk if it was just a bad Rookie year, bad blocking, or what. But he was overall disappointing in Year 1. Jahmyr Gibbs on the other hand, was not. Surprisingly the best Rookie RB this season. But I have to see more before i'd say for sure i'd rather have him.
  6. I think considering we generally keep 5 DT's and we currently have only 1 on the Roster, 1 DT is kind of light. At the very least, we'd take 2 DT's and 1 DE in your scenario - considering between Groot, Von, and Kingsley we only need 2 DE's versus 4 DT's. I also don't see us keeping all 10 picks either (we have 9 now, but we'll have 10 after the Edmunds compensatory). Beane will use picks to move up at least once or twice to secure the talent he covets at the positions we're in need.
  7. That's just one of the million things about this hairbrained idea that doesn't make sense. But hey, some guy, who supposedly knows a guy, who was supposedly talking to Sherfield and Harty and just volunteering trade secrets to him, says it's in the works. So, you know, logic be damned. That's some stone cold, believable, lock it in stuff right there. The Diggs posts that were a waste of time last year were insane. I guess we're just going for next level crazy this offseason.
  8. Nico Collins was 8th in the league in yardage last year and was Stroud's go to guy. They're growing together. I see no way that they'd not keep a 25 year old Top 10 WR who may be just scratching the surface with Stroud in favor of a guy that, as good as he is, will be 31 years old this year. Even in a Down Year Stefon Diggs, he was 7th in the league in Receptions and just out of the Top 10 in Yards. Beane himself said he needs to get weapons to take pressure off of him, which partly resulted in the Down Year. Even if he thinks he might be on the decline, he's still a difference maker. If there's a question as to whether or not that's the case, Houston wouldn't give up what's being talked about to get him. And Beane can't possibly be so sure he isn't a difference maker anymore that he's going to risk handing them a weapon that could come back to bite us. There's zero way he can be positive that would happen. Again, if he were to be traded, which I just don't see - as we still have to replace half of our WR core as is - there's zero possibility it would be to an AFC contender like Houston. There's zero chance he'd risk even the possibility of having to answer why he handed Houston the piece that beat us in the Playoffs. That's setting himself up for a fireable offense. Beane is too judicious for that.
  9. Oh joy! You've found your ErieCountyBulls for this season and he's a poster on this board. Wonderful. I can't wait to hear "BuffaloBaumer said" up until the Draft, like it's some sort of proof positive smoking gun to this nonsense. Houston makes very little sense. They have Nico Collins, Tank Dell, John Metchie, and Robert Woods. They've spent a 2nd and two 3rds over the past 3 Drafts to acquire them and are in really good shape in that room. Now they're going to pay for Diggs' massive bag of money and spend a 1st as well on top of all of that, when their room is already very good and growing/developing? Now let's look at the next part of it that makes no sense - why would we help Houston? They, like us were one of the final 4 teams in the AFC. We're in direct competition with them. So now we're going to give them a final piece to help push them over the top? In our own path? In exchange for a lottery ticket and paying money out of pocket to do so? No f'n way. Even if you were to entertain the idea that trading him is possible or likely, which it absolutely isn't - we wouldn't trade him to an AFC contender.
  10. Okay, I see, you're not saying he explicitly hasn't said he wants to be here - but that he's never explicitly said he wants out. My honest apologies. It's kind of the same thing though. You say he's trying to stir up something, which could mean a number of different things. But when he says he doesn't want to be traded and he wants to retire a Bill - exact words that negate the one possibility that everyone is giving credence to - it goes ignored. If he's trying to stir anything up, it's getting people talking about him in the Offseason. He finds a way to do that every year, in media starved Buffalo.
  11. Uh, yeah. He LITERALLY did just yesterday. But we're just going to ignore him reiterating he wants to retire a Bill and doesn't want to be traded as recent as 24 hours ago - because then how can we talk about getting him off the team otherwise?
  12. It really depends on how the board falls. 76 & 78 are good for 49 on the trade Value Chart. So you could have 60, 76, 78, and 128 or ~49, 60, and 128, in conjunction with an extra 1st next year. The problem is we have so many holes to fill at multiple positions. So we're going to need to come out with probably at least 2 starters this Draft. Waiting until the 49-60 range to make our first pick would make that tough to do. And with the amount of starting holes we have, odds are there's going to be a player of value at 28 at one of the many positions we need. However, if the board falls in a way where there isn't a player at 28 at WR, DE, DT, or S that's all that different of a prospect from guys in Mid-Round 2 - you'd have to seriously think about it. But I doubt that happens.
  13. Yeah, PFN's Mock Simulator Boards are way off right now. They'll update it as things get closer to the Draft, but right now it's completely unrealistic to use them. You'll hunt him down for taking a DL in Round 3? You are aware that we only have 1 DT total on our roster right now, right? I got news for you - Round 3 is about the latest we'll be addressing that position with the amount of holes we have there.
  14. This would be great. But I find PFN's board placement of Troy Franklin unrealistic. I don't see any way he's the 10th Ranked WR and available in the mid to bottom of Round 2. A lot of mocks and other simulators have him not even on the board at 28.
  15. Today in his interview with Kay Adams: “That’s still family,” Diggs said. “At the end of the day, people kind of form their own opinion in regards to football. Josh extended his hand out to me when I got (traded) to the Bills. He welcomed me with open arms, open hands,” Diggs said. “That’s still my brother, I kind of get sentimental about it because he’'s still family at the end of the day. He’s always going to be family no matter how it shakes out.”
  16. But, but... Josh would never say something like that ever. It's not a standard football answer 😆 Honestly, there was nothing wrong with his answer before. A standard football answer that Josh himself gave. People were upset over their self conceived notions of what they felt he SHOULD have said in addition and drew their own conclusions as to what his not saying them meant and punishments he should incur because of their own self conceived notions. Then when asked again, he hit on everything they wanted. /thread I mean, he did call him family and his brother for life no matter what happens. I'm not sure where you're seeing gaslighting and toxic relationship is in his comments.
  17. But he literally did answer this question the right way today. He said he "hopes it doesn't happen". And Josh doesn't answer this question time after time. Josh is one of the top 2 or 3 QB's in the NFL. He's literally never answered the question of "do you think you'll be traded?" because no one would EVER ask him that. If he had to, how can you say that he wouldn't say that he has no control over that but hopes it doesn't happen? Why is that answer so controversial to you?
  18. It's a risk/reward scenario. The fact is Josh Allen is like a 90-100% sure thing. He has the extremely rare ability to make a team have to account for the ability to throw the ball literally anywhere on the field and the rushing ability to score anytime he takes it on the ground. We'd be dumb to not take high percentage first down runs when they're there. As for the short yardage, you get a short yardage back to compliment Cook. Practically every team has a committee of RB's. The idea of an every down back that handles all situations is pretty much extinct. Unfortunately, last season the guy we got for that role went down for the Season early on. Hopefully we can find a guy that will stay healthy for that role next season. But even then, with Josh's ability and the percentage of success he has on short yardage - it's never going to completely go away. The Eagles have the same thing with Jalen Hurts. If a QB is good at it, you take the risk for the reward.
  19. This was kind of a no brainer. He was given the starting job from Day 1, took the team to the Playoffs, and got a Playoff victory in Year 1. Given where he was, why would he want to restart somewhere else that could possibly be not as good of a fit? Why would the Bucs want to restart from square one at QB after going to the Playoffs and getting a win?
  20. I find the commitment by some to search for more than what's said, outright put words in his mouth that go against what he's actually said, and then argue that he should be let go based on a proven false personal assumption even more bizarre. If you think him to be "annoying", that's fine. But being annoying isn't enough to move on from a guy and pay for the privilege to do so - when we already need to replace half the WR core as is, are deep in debt, and have a ton of other holes to fill. He'll be 1 of only 2 WR's left on the team that has caught a Football from Josh in the regular season (after Harty is released). In a down year, he still was 6th in Receptions and 13th in yardage by a WR in the entire league. He's still a Top end WR in the league. If he were out here ACTUALLY saying "I'm not happy, I want out - please trade me" - it would be different. But he literally just today said "I hope it doesn't happen". Yet posters are still saying he wants out and are throwing out trade scenarios to get him out of here over the opposite of what he actually said. To me, that's way more bizarre. As you've said, he probably will be gone in 2025. But now is not the time and making up reasons in your own head and passing them off as fact when it's not to justify shipping him out of town is insanity.
  21. But he literally just said he DOES want to be here. So that point is just false. You can twist his words any number of different ways, but that doesn't supercede him literally saying "I hope it doesn't happen" in regards to being traded. Yet you're still trying to falsely manufacture he doesn't want to be here. He fell apart down the stretch in large part due to us having no one else opposite him that took pressure off. Rather than getting him help, you just want to move on? We're really going to ignore 3 and a half years of Superstar production for the last half of a season and call it a day? Ridiculous. KC traded Hill and proceeded to be Elite because they still had Kelce. They had 2 Elite weapons, not just 1. Also an all time Offensive Head Coach and this year in particular, a very solid Defense. He's not going anywhere. He knows it, Josh knows it, Beane knows it. It's not worth even talking about and it makes no sense to hope for it. I don't care how good the College prospects look. Unless that prospect is Marvin Harrison Jr, you shouldn't be hoping to move on from a Superstar WR known commodity like Diggs for the 5th or 6th best WR of 2024.
  22. I interpret as a guy giving an honest answer to the rumors. He didn't say "where there's smoke there's fire" to a question about rumors that he doesn't want to be here. He was replying to the fact that there's a million "rumors" floating around that Beane will trade him. Pontificating "when there's smoke there's fire" when it comes to GM's trading players. The context of both interviews are really clear. He's said that he doesn't make those decisions and he's just focusing on being ready to go to work next season regardless of what's decided. In this interview, he elaborated that he doesn't want to be traded. Which is really the crux of everyone's outrage - implying by his lack of elaboration that it had to have meant he doesn't want to be here. At the absolute most, by saying "where there's smoke there's fire" - he knows that saying something like that will get people talking about him and keep his name and brand on the lips of people in the Offseason. Something he enjoys. Even if you take it as more than that, that would imply that he thinks Beane is thinking about trading him (which I don't think is a reality) and on that note, he said he'd rather that not happen. Nothing to get upset about. Unless you're a person that wants to be upset with him or wants him gone. Then you'll try and make it a bigger deal than it is.
  23. I simply don't understand why you're trying to force a Superstar, one of the best WR's in the NFL off of the team for a lottery ticket that could completely bust or take a while to develop, all the while paying money to do so. On top of what it would cost us, the cost for a team taking his contract on is going to make it impossible to get anything of real value. It's like Davante Adams. Amazing talent, but when a team is taking on that kind of contract, they're either not interested or aren't going to give up much in terms of compensation. If Diggs is the kind of talent that would necessitate a "bidding war" that would have the team taking on his massive contract AND giving up prime compensation in return - that's not the type of player you want to get rid of. Let alone pay money to do so, when we're in the situation we're in. He's not going anywhere. For a guy obsessed with shiny toys, it's odd to me you want to get rid of our biggest not named Josh Allen.
  24. So the uproar here has been that when he was asked (keyword - he was replying to being asked, not just volunteering to talk about his future) if he'd be here (keyword - not if he WANTED to be here) - he simply answered that the decision is not up to him and people felt he should have said more than that. Now he's been asked again. This time he DID elaborate that he "hopes it doesn't happen" - implying he wants to be here. Yet that's still not going to be enough for some.
