Honestly, if Beane went WR in Round 1 and Round 2 - I wouldn't be upset about it. I just don't see it. Especially after today. We're going to need another Starter in Round 2. As for Franklin, I'm kind of out on him. I don't necessarily *expect* it - but I wouldn't be shocked if he slid to Round 3. Everything that had me high on him, was dispelled at the Combine. Weighed in even less than was expected. Was shorter than expected. Ran slower than people he was expected to be faster than - including dead last in the 10 yard split. And was terrible in drills. Listening to the Cover 1 guys talk about him turned me off even more. Watch the whole part titled "Which WR Hurt Themselves" starting at 32:10 and listen to them both talk about him. I think he was over hyped on this board: At this point, I feel like there's probably a WR I'd prefer over him at 60 even if he were there and we were going WR again. I'll bet on the traits, the skills, and the head on his shoulders rather than generic stats that base only on age and not scheme, team fit, or the player themselves. Like I said, it's a fair concern to have and is something that makes him in play for us. But I'll take the chance there.

The guy is the total package. Size, build, speed, playmaking ability. And in listening to him talk at the Combine and reading about his history - I'd be surprised if he didn't wow them in the Interview process as well. As I've said to people before, if you're someone who's scared by him being 23 after spending an extra year in College or the one year wonder thing - without those things we wouldn't get a whiff of him. He'd be up there with Nabers and Odunze in the Top 10. From what I've seen of him on video and how he measured and performed at the Combine, he's the perfect fit for what I feel Beane is looking for. I'll take the age and one year wonder concerns for what he's got.

I mean - no offense to Tre, Poyer, and Morse. Great players who were here a long time. They weren't what Bruce, Thurman, and Andre were to this franchise.

Did you prefer Kyle Allen? Backups suck. That's why they're Backups. There isn't even 32 good Starters in the league. Good Backups go to teams to be Bridge QB's or to teams that have a questionable starter, whether it be performance or injury issues. And they're paid well too. None of those things apply here. Our Backup is always going to be a Mitch, Keenum, Barkley, Kyle Allen type.

We don't keep 3 on the active roster. Mitch is the most we've done at Backup since... well, Mitch.

Exactly. Probably incentives that can get him there. But more likely an inexpensive option, especially in Year 1. He wasn't as bad as posters on here are making him out to be. Single handedly sealed the deal for us in Miami. Honestly preferred when he was in the lineup over Hyde.

The hilarious thing about your manic posting mocking others is that NONE of us - not me, @GunnerBill, @FireChans, or anyone else who thought it was an odd exchange did anything but hypothesize that it's possible he won't be here. None of us took a stance of "Douglas is definitely gone". Re-read all of my posts. The only sure fire stance I took was that Douglas and White would not be here at the same time. The most I said was that I thought White would be gone but after the Combine, it could be Douglas.

Exactly. Victory laps are cringe to begin with. But they can't be taken when your stance is only half correct.

But it would. We're not going to spend a 1st Round pick when our top WR's would be set in stone with Diggs and Sutton on the Outside with Shakir and Kincaid in the Slot. Another year where we didn't have to find a 2 DE's one a starter, 4 DT's one a starter, and both Starting Safeties - on top of a million important depth pieces and not a lot of money to do it maybe you spend your 1st elsewhere. But with all of that combined with what we'd have to give up in Draft compensation and money (both this year and years to come) for Sutton - best believe that 1st would go elsewhere before off the bench WR.

I'm saying that you're taking victory laps and a stance of superiority, mocking others, while all of your posts were about nobody going. So you were right in the sense that Douglas wasn't moved. But you were also wrong in saying on multiple occasions that you saw all 3 staying based on an article you kept quoting. I asked you if you would rather move on from Tre. This is because all of my posts all offseason were that one of them had to go. I was wrong in my interpretation of the Combine that it could be Douglas. It was White. If you want to call others out for misinterpreting the Combine comments - you have to own that your stance was not just that Douglas would stay, but that White would as well.

We were always going to be in play in FA. We were always going to get under the cap and make some moves. I still wouldn't expect anything big ticket at any position though.

In Year 1. And what will that do in future years? What about the 17.8 next season? You shouldn't want a big move like Sutton. With everything we had to do before today and the new holes we created today - a move for a guy like Sutton would remove us from Round 1 WR consideration. We wouldn't give up Draft picks for Sutton, take on his contract, and then Draft a guy in Round 1 who's ceiling in Year 1 would be WR4 off the bench.

Considering we brought him back for the Playoffs and then cut him again in favor of a 50% Martin, i'd say he's, at best, a Camp leg.

Our core is still here. Do you really feel that Tre White, Jordan Poyer, Mitch Morse, Deonte Harty, Nyheim Hines, Ryan Bates, and Siran Neal are what made this team last year? All we did was get out from under guys who were declining, injured, or didn't make an impact. With their exits, improvement is far more likely than decline with their replacements.

My take all Offseason was one of them was going to go. I initially thought it was White. But in listening to him at the Combine talk about the two, it felt like he was leaning towards Douglas. I was far from the only one who thought this. Let's not take a stance of superiority and post victory laps on multiple threads. You've been non-stop arguing your stance based on a report that we can keep all 3 and that's what made the most sense to you.

So much for "everyone says we can keep all 3" too.

It was either White or Douglas. I said it all offseason. It doesn't make any sense to have 3 quality starting CB's for 2 roles. Especially when 1 of them is performing very well under a Day 3 Rookie Contract that is developing, 2 of them are high priced veterans, 1 has an out in their contract, and we have a myriad of starting holes elsewhere and not a lot of money. I originally thought it would be White. But after listening to Beane at the Combine, I thought it was going to be Douglas. But the fact remained, something had to give at CB for the sake of the rest of the roster. Sad to see him go. But as I said earlier - when you remove emotion from the equation, it's kind of a no brainer.
