Raiders are open to trading Davante Adams
BillsFanForever19 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nope. I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts Davante's motivation is less about wins, losses, and championships and more about showing out individually to the league. To a point where either the acquiring team values him so much they keep him on the insane number he's on the next two seasons or let's him go and he's coming off still looking like that dude when he hits the open market. If he cared about wins and losses, he wouldn't want to go to the Jets and Saints to begin with. He wants to go there because he's got built in chemistry with Rodgers and Carr and thinks that will make him look best immediately. Edit: *Maybe* to the extent of the winning team will pursue him harder bc they'll be first in the Division and will want more firepower to compete. But I feel like if the Jets were serious about competing, they wouldn't have fired their coach. And from our end, if we win and look good, we'll be 4-2 with a two game lead on the division and I could see a scenario where Beane thinks we're in good shape and doesn't panic. If we lose, fall to 3-3, and give up first in the Division to the Jets - I could see a scenario where he views adding Adams as a bandaid on a gaping wound. -

In a vacuum, that's fair. But again, after the past two weeks of getting smashed by both of the only two contenders we've faced, I don't know that even with Adams we're a Super Bowl team. Adams would upgrade our WR core, undoubtedly. But rather than take us from a Contender to a Championship team, it would take us from an underwhelming Offense of talent (outside of QB) to an adequate one. The other part of it is that people look at an addition like Adams on paper as you're just getting that Superstar level of production he's had from the word go. Adams will have to get the Playbook down midseason while coming off a Hamstring injury. And there's no saying that he and Allen are just going to have chemistry together immediately. I'm willing to bet that Beane thinks that a lot of the woes that we're having with the new WR core is that the chemistry isn't quite there yet. All this to say that combined with Beane's MO to begin with, I don't see us giving up a Day 2 Pick and further restructures (if there's any left that he'd feel comfortable doing after all he's done already) for a guy that would more likely than not be a 1 year rental - on a year where our roster isn't more than just competitive even with him to begin with. I think what's happening now is if they can get him for a 4th with them eating 6m or so at the deadline when it's cheapest, he'd do it. I feel like he's just monitoring the situation and hoping they get desperate enough to do a deal that is good for us. -
Roster wise on the Offensive side of the ball, it isn't even close. The only reason we got back in was Nico Collins going down. Not to mention, Joe Mixon and one of their starting Offensive Lineman were out for the game (granted we were also down Shakir). And even if they didn't f-ck up the last drive, there's no guarantee we would have won in Overtime either.

I think rather than selecting another WR from 60 onward or the *laughably* unrealistic idea that we could have gotten someone between 4 and 9 to move to 28 - the most fair complaint that one can make as far as what we should have done differently in the Draft that could have improved our situation now, would be that we should have tried to move in front of Jacksonville at 23 to take Brian Thomas Jr. I haven't given up on Coleman. But it's pretty obvious Thomas would provide more help now. I'd like to think he's lying when he said he didn't make any calls to move up at all and just no one wanted to move down in that 20-22 area.

It's Week 6... The best teams get hot at the end of the year. The Chiefs looked just as human last season around this time. The year before that, they were beatable in the regular season too. End of the year Chiefs are a different animal. While I'm not ready to say that we can't be a team like them who become a juggernaut at the end of the year (like we were last year, until we ran into the Chiefs), I'm also not ready to say after the past two games that this team is a Davante Adams with a hammy injury away from winning it all. "All In" moves like LA's with Von came when the team was rocking and rolling to take them over the top. The first 3 games (against bad teams), that looked like us. But seeing what Baltimore and Houston did to us (and how other teams have fared against them), I don't know how you can say this is a one piece away, Super Bowl contending team right now - which is what quantifies an "All In" move. Right now, it's more like pushing all your chips into the pot with a pair of 10's. -
Stuff like this annoys me. So some random TWSN reporter on a radio show puts out a completely hypothetical "what if?" scenario with no information as to whether or not Seattle's interested in moving him. Someone else writes an article about it bc the headline will get clicks. Then everyone takes that as some sort of confirmation that the player is *actually* available. When even this article follows up the discussion by talking about why it won't happen. Unless it's a big time reporter tweeting out that sources are telling them that a player is on the market and discussions are actually being had (like with Davante Adams) - it's just speculation and fantasy. No more meaningful than when fans post trade ideas on this message board.
-
Not any more than any other clickbait big name trade suggestion article by a minor publication. The sad part is they float out stuff like this and then people think they're really on the market and it spreads like telephone on Social Media and Message Boards.
-
We're definitely reaching critical mass on the trade craziness between things like this and a new thread everyday to to discuss trading for a different WR that no legit source has said is even available.

He has a large contract and followed up his season ending injury last year with a season ending injury sustained in Training Camp this year. He has no trade value right now. He's an undeniable talent when healthy and the injuries were kind of fluky and not anything structural with long term effects like an ACL or Achilles (Broken Leg and Torn Bicep). You don't want to just give him away for nothing. Which is what we'd be doing right now. Let him heal up and restart his career. If Williams has an undeniable full year and they want him to be the guy, show Milano off a bit in the Playoffs and the Pre-Season next year. Let people see he's the same guy and healthy before you even *think* about trading him. But preferably and realistically, we keep them both.

James Cook Accused Of Running Out On Nightclub tab 🥃
BillsFanForever19 replied to GoBills!'s topic in The Stadium Wall
It's probably standard practice for an amount that large. Report it at closing so there's a record of it immediately in case the person is really trying to rip them off. To do it later, police would ask why it wasn't reported right away and lawyers can argue it was manufactured after the fact. -

They didn't. Someone in the media just got word of the Police Report somehow. They posted a follow up statement on their Facebook further clarifying. -

According to the club, it's been settled. -
And reportedly teams that called on Draft Day like the Steelers were told they weren't interested in moving him. The Seahawks are 2nd in their division by tiebreaker and have the same record with the team in 1st. They don't have a losing record and aren't a team in rebuild or tear down mode that isn't expected to compete. So trading one of their key pieces now doesn't make any sense.

Maybe it pulls up differently for different people. But mine is showing Stroud, a Raider, a comedian, and then MVS, Josh, and Von. Either way, like you and others have said, like with Hopkins and others that have done this - it could mean nothing just as much, if not more, than mean something. -

Seattle is the only team that can have contract talks with DK Metcalf. How is another team convincing them that he's not going to re-sign? They're the only ones that would know and to say you have inside information would be to admit to tampering. Also, he isn't a Free Agent until 2026. So even if they had preliminary talks and were far apart now, why would they trade him a year and a half before it's even an issue for them? Especially when they're currently a winning team. -

I'm not so sure Adams is no longer interested in either. The appeal to him is reuniting with one of his former QB's and showing the league that he's still that dude by playing with someone he already has chemistry with. With his contract having zero guarantees beyond this season, he'd either be making the insane bank he's scheduled to make bc the Jets or Saints want to keep him or he hits the market with an improved stock after reuniting with Rodgers or Carr and telling the Jets or Saints to "take it or leave it" with his current contract. I'm pretty sure he knew both teams aren't going to go anywhere this season. That's not why I envision he wanted to go to either place. If anything, I'd imagine it would make the Jets more desirable with Rodgers having more influence. -
Do we trust McBeane in next years draft.
BillsFanForever19 replied to Buffalo Boy's topic in The Stadium Wall
He didn't have a shot at the first 4 WR's off the board. By all accounts, had he stayed out at 28, he would have taken Keon Coleman and instead of him being the "8th receiver off the board" he would have been the 5th. And the result would have been the same. -
All offseason I said Curtis Samuel is not an Outside WR. He's a Slot. I think the Turf Toe is greatly minimizing his potential, playing him outside of the Slot is minimizing his potential (and we'd want to play Shakir there as much as possible anyway), and I think he and Josh haven't developed chemistry. All of this is leading to him being a total 0 on the field for us. With him being a total none factor and Khalil Shakir being injured - we're really nowhere. Then the Coordinator is sending Mack Hollins on deep, tracking routes and dialing up MVS to catch contested short passes on Derek Stingley Jr. with what we have (or don't have). Literal madness.

3rd and 10 and you throw it to MVS with Derek Stingley Jr. on him? Terrible matchup.
