  1. Odds are he's going to retire. He was pretty much in retirement when we found him and stated that he'll be there after the 04 season. TD SUPPOSEDLY tried to talk him out of it to be the #2 guy, but it went no where. Sad to say; no one really cares.
  2. This question is mostly for the Matt Jones people out there like myself. Would you be against trading up for him? According to Sports Inc. (and just a hunch), the Shelton for Henry and swaps of our 2nd's will go through. From there, i'd like to see us try and trade our 44th pick in the 2nd (from AZ), our 4th, and a late round pick in next year's draft to San Diego at #28 (who are sitting pretty with two first round picks and a lot of help needed). I think if we want Jones, it's imperative for us to get in front of Pittsburgh (at #30) and Phili (at #31). If you're not a Jones guy, then would you at least like to see a trade like that go through? And who would be your REALISTIC ideal pick?
  3. I'd still rather see Matt Jones
  4. I'm a little confused as to where we're going with all this, "Safety pegs Jones" talk. You should have seen the kid in the Senior Bowl. Take a look at the tapes from the link above. If you're going to make that argument with him, you can make it with everyone else too. I'd even go as far as saying that if it looks like he won't be around, trade up! There's gotta be a team out there who will take say our 2nd (AZ's 44th), 4th, and maybe a later round pick in next years draft to move up to an earlier spot in the 2nd or even one of the last 5 in the 1st.
  5. THANK YOU!! Help a brother out on my post from yesterday: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=21691&st=0 I'm fighting the good "Matt Jones to Buffalo" fight over there.
  6. Check out Matt Jones at: http://bears.hosttown.com/index.php?showtopic=46054
  7. THANK YOU!! As long as we trade for Shelton, there's no need to draft another lineman.
  8. You could say this about any of the rookies coming out. ANYBODY the Bills draft will be a risk. But the upside on this one would be too good to pass up. He's realistically the best guy to help out our offense, who might be around at our pick.
  9. As I just said in another post..... We have Ross Tucker, Mike Gandy, Lawrence Smith, Ben Sobieski, Dylan McFarland, and everyone's favorite project; Jason Peters on top of our starting OL. We may even resign Marcus Price. How many O-Lineman do you need?! I'd feel a whole hell of a lot more comfortable with Teague at Center than someone who's never played on a pro line. And if you drafted Spencer or Bass, then what would you do with Teague? Cut him? At that point we'd only have two people on the starting line returning from the year before. Talk about throwing any chemistry that McNally created last year right out the window! Again, I completely disagree.
  10. I don't think it's fair to compare Matt Jones to Eric Crouch. First of all, Crouch never ran a 4.3 40. Crouch wasn't 6'6". Crouch couldn't pull off any of these freakish numbers that Jones is pulling off. And most importantly, Crouch was not initially recruited to his college AS a WR like Jones was. I completely disagree. Teague isn't the best Center in the league, but he is nowhere's near the worst either. With Shelton at LT, Bennie at LG, and Gandy for some more added depth; there's no need for anymore lineman. We have Ross Tucker, Mike Gandy, Lawrence Smith, Ben Sobieski, Dylan McFarland, and everyone's favorite project; Jason Peters on top of our starting OL. We may even resign Marcus Price. 11. LMAO! After signing Bennie Anderson, Mike Gandy for depth, and trading for Shelton (it WILL happen); there's no need to draft another lineman. Teague isn't one of the top centers in the league, but he's not one of the worst either. Do you just want to cut him? Or are you going to be backup LT? Teague at LT is a SERIOUS drop-off from Jennings. So I hope you're not talking about going that route (As in not trading for Shelton).
  12. Round 4?! What are you smoking?
  13. You said it yourself right there, the whole draft is a "crap shoot". He has all the intangibles to be just as good (and in my opinion, better) than anyone else we could draft at that spot.
  14. Honestly, i'm starting to think so. As more and more time goes by, it looks like Travis for Shelton and a flip flop of our 2nds will get done. That with the current addition of top available guard Bennie Anderson and Mike Gandy for depth, our OL is set. So what we need is another target for J.P.; another X-Factor if you will. I feel like we're in the same position here in 2005 that we were in when we drafted Willis in 2003. We're approximately $6.5 million under the cap (according to John Clayton). Our OL is set. We have our backup QB and a rocking defense. Why not draft a guy who can be our Jeremy Shockey? A guy who could line up in the slot and keep up with Evans. A guy who can play #3 on our QB roster. He ran a 4.39 in the 40, has a 39 1/2" vertical jump, and a 10 foot 6 long jump! His stock has risen from a second day pick, to no lower than the 2nd round. I know people are going to want to say, "We lost Pat Williams" or "We have no depth at CB with Vincent at Safety". But these are similiar complaints to that which were heard when we drafted Willis. I remember everyone ready to commit suicide when TD drafted him and now everyone's praising him as a god. We're $6.5 million under, there's still DT's out there and there will be more when 6/1 comes along. As for CB, we need a guy who can play #3. We can easily get that in a later round. Who knows? Maybe Ty Law will come here after all (Flame away!). With a top pick in the 2nd round (from AZ), I think there would be no better selection than Matt Jones. With Moulds, Evans, McGahee, and someone with the upside of Jones there at J.P.'s disposal; things couldn't be better!
  15. I know you meant "shutdown", but it still came out ironic
  16. He's Transition tagged and Green Bay doesn't want to let him go. So good luck pulling that one off.
  17. OG Dan Neil (Cut by Broncos) OG Bennie Anderson (Ravens UFA) TE Freddie Jones (Cardnials UFA) CB Ty Law (Cut by Patriots) Bring in Law only if it seems we can't re-sign Clements. I see TD giving him the Peerless Price, Antoine Winfield, Jonas Jennings approach of, "He's worth too much, i'm not willing to pay what he's going to make."
  18. I think it'll be a guy in a later round of this years draft. I think Heisman winner Jason White would make the ideal career backup. He's a guy who has all the intangibles and great leadership qualities that you like in someone who needs to come in if our main dog goes down.
  19. Am I the only one who's sick of Schopp and the Bulldog spending all week on the MAC tournament? They spent weeks worth of programming talking about the QB situation in Buffalo. Yet when we sign Kelly Holcomb, they talked about it for like 5 minutes yesterday! Then today they went on a rant about how the Bills piss them off and that local college basketball is where it's at.
  20. I was wondering if anyone on this board listens to "NFL Access". According to someone on the BB board, they heard on the show that Ty Law is close to signing with us. Can anyone confirm or deny this report? http://boards.buffalobills.com/forums/inde...showtopic=44769
  21. Yeah really! We could trade a 3rd to AZ for Shelton and then trade Henry to someone for a 3rd. Indirectly, the trade gets done.
  22. He's been showing improvements and I don't think it's too much to ask a near 400 lb. man to drop some weight before training camp. Do you think we used the 4th overall pick in the draft for a guy to play Right Tackle his whole career?
  23. The Shelton deal just isn't happening. I think its time we all come to grips with it. From all reports, it could have happened at one time but Travis had to be a jackass. They wanted him to play out the last year of his Bills contract and then evaluate at the end of the season. But he wanted to work a brand new deal. This gave Denny Green time to realize that he has a high pick in the first round for a guy like Cedric Benson or Cadillac Williams and that Travis isn't really the type of back he wants. Shelton is well on his way to Chicago by all reports. But the bottom line is, they just don't want Travis anymore. I think realistically, here's hoping our line looks like this: LT: Mike Williams LG: Rick DeMulling C: Chris Spencer (2nd Rd., Top Center from Ole Miss) RG: Chris Villarial RT: Trey Teague
  24. There's been rumblings for the past week. Sirius Radio confirmed it on one of their talk shows. There's also speculation from a couple members on different boards that they mentioned it on ESPN. Ty Law himself has said that Lawyer has been courting him. Honestly, I think there's too much speculation for it not to be true.
  25. 2003 is just the messenger. Then again, I might just be defending him because of the cowbell. True, there is no sources confirming anything. But if Ty were to sign, it would make sense. I'm not saying I agree with it, but it does make sense. Do you honestly think TD would re-sign Nate? He's a playmaker in his prime in a position that demands INSANE amounts of money. Knowing TD, he wouldn't even try. So if we did Tie (pun intended haha..... no) up Ty, why not try and get a high pick for him now? We might not need one next year, but we do this year. Again, i'm not saying I agree with it. I'm just saying that I could see it.
