  1. You're right about us saving $5 mil in cap space for cutting him. Although, paying him a bonus is news to me. 5 mil is a lot of money to be spending on an aging, skill declining WR who doesn't want to be here. Especially when we still haven't given Nate his payday and we need another DT and some OG's. Not to mention, after re-signing Josh Reed and bringing in Andre' Davis; I don't think there's room for Eric anymore. I'm fine with this lineup actually: Lee Evans Roscoe Parrish Josh Reed Andre' Davis Sam Aiken Jonathan Smith
  2. According to a lot of places, Vince Manuwai is the best OG available. tsn.ca's FA tracker even has him listed above Steve Neal. He'll be going into only his 5th season and is an absolute stud with lots of potential to get better. However, he's one of those gosh-darned Restricted FA's (so maybe Marv will make a run at him for that reason alone). Not only would our offer have to be enough money that they don't want to touch it, but the compensation for him would be a 3rd rounder. Given our current state on the OL and the market being pretty dry, I might think about it. Especially since we got an extra 3rd from Travis and we may possibly pick up a 4th for Moulds if someone wants to trade for him. Thoughts?
  3. It cracks me up how much everyone KNOWS. That something's are impossible just because. The fact is, anything can happen. Who would have guessed when we had a Pro Bowl RB and a million needs that we would draft Willis McGahee? Who would have guessed that Aaron Rodgers who was projected to be the 1st pick overall, dropped to pick 20 last year? Anything can happen. Argue his style all you want, but the guy can flat out play and is a proven leader. If the pick is Young or Cutler vs. Huff, Justice, or Hali and Marv isn't high on J.P.; we may very well make that pick.
  4. I just don't understand this. Why would you re-sign Chad and then make a trade for Patrick Ramsay, just to draft Matt Leinart? Why even bother re-signing Pennington or make the trade even if you're going to bring in another QB? ...... and people get upset when WE talk about drafting a QB
  5. Why the hell would the Jets take Leinart? They resigned Chad Pennington and made a trade for Patrick Ramsay as an insurance policy if Chad can't be fixed. So they have two starting QB's on the team and no O-Line. But they're going to pass on drafting the best OL in the past 5 years or so and give up more picks to draft another QB? I don't think so.
  6. New Orleans is reportedly drooling over Mario. He's expected to not last past pick 4. I don't know how anyone could think he's available at 8.
  7. 1.) Houston - Reggie Bush 2.) New Orleans - Mario Williams 3.) Tennessee - Matt Leinart 4.) New York - D'Brickashaw Ferguson 5.) Green Bay - A.J. Hawk 6.) San Francisco - Vernon Davis 7.) Oakland - Haloti Ngata 8.) Buffalo - Vince Young Say whatever you wish, but that's how it's going down barring no trades. Especially now that Oakland has their QB in Brooks. With Ngata, Ferguson, Williams, and Davis off the board; Young is the pick if Marv doesn't like Losman. Which is obvious at this point. If it comes down to Vince Young vs. Michael Huff, Winston Justice, or Tamba Hali; there's no doubt. Unless it's Jay Cutler.
  8. That's not neccessarily (sp?) true. There are a lot of teams (Eagles and Chiefs in particular) who need a WR a lot more than New England does. If the offer is anything below a 5th round pick (which it probably is), i'd rather not put him on a team we play twice a year every year. Call me crazy, stupid, and selfish; but seeing Eric in a Pats jersey would just make me cry.
  9. per 550 7:20 news flash. I think i'd rather get nothing and cut him then trade him for a late rounder to New England.
  10. Of course Holcomb is the odd man out. Everyone knows we have to clear up #10 for Vince Young
  11. NOOOOOO!!!!!! He obviously doesn't have a high motor!
  12. Hey douchebag, you'll notice I said "whether it's the right thing to do or not". Not once did I say "I think we should draft a QB" or "it's a good idea to dump Losman". I said that I can see it happening.
  13. Marv is obviously looking at Free Agency and avoiding players who have recieved any sort of fame. He's looking for young guys who have shown lots of potential to break out, but haven't done it quite yet. He wants guys that he, er..... Jauron can mold. Guys that will buy into whatever they're selling. Guys that will be greatful for an opportunity rather than guys who will be greatful for a huge paycheck. Lawyer Milloy, Sam Adams, Eric Moulds, and Mike Williams were exceptions to this and for the most part, they're all gone. Marv's trying to put together a "hungry" team. He's trying to build this team ala the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Sabres. It's an interesting idea and i'm excited to see what we've got in some of these players. But the problem with his concept is, it rarely works. For every New England team there's two to three who fail with "potential" players. But we have something on our side that most other teams don't. And that something is Marv. Marv knows the difference between the real thing and a fake. If he's signing someone, he thinks he's the real thing. I trust Marv's judgement on players probably more than anyone else. So stop bashing Robert Royal, Andre' Davis, Reggie Wells, Israel Idonjie, Matt Bowen, Craig Nall and guys we're bringing in like Monsato Pope and Melvin Fowler. Hold your judgement until you've seen them in Bills blue. It's not like he's watching players in college and trying to judge them. He's watching NFL players. And in that right, he knows what he's doing. If you're looking for "big names", wait until the draft because Marv isn't going to pick established stars. He wants to establish his own in the NFL. My hunch is that J.P. is on his way out. Marv has zero ties to him and I don't think he impresses him enough to stake the franchise on him. I don't think Ralph is happy with him for that matter. I bet both of them look at Losman as TD's failed experiment. Whether it's the right thing to do or not, I see them taking "their" QB at 8.
  14. Literally? I'm holding you to that.
  15. You know what's sad? If someone told me this was really Coy Wire, I wouldn't be shocked.
  16. You're too new to be making smartass comments
  17. According to most sites I see (tsn.ca is the one I use the most), the top DT available right now is none other than...... Sam Adams And honestly, i'd much rather have him back than anyone else available right now. He had problems with Mularkey and ran his mouth off, but he got a raw deal last year. I can't believe they kept benching him. I wish we could bring him back
  18. If we hadn't taken Tripplett to be our smaller, penetrating DT; then i'd say we'd take Bunkley. But since we're looking for the big, run-stuffing guy; it would be Ngata. Bunkley's not even 300 last time I checked.
  19. Not even close! Grady Jackson has been an absolute force for Green Bay. He is the epitome of what we're looking for. He's a freaking wall. The reason he wasn't re-signed was because he demanded huge amounts of money. At this point, he's the best option out there if you want a DT.
  20. I've been quietly saying this for a long time now. But saying the Bills should take Vince Young is like saying you're a baby-killer around these parts or something. I agree completely with everything that was said. We're in a complete rebuilding mode. If Ralph or Marv don't like J.P. (like i've thought all along) than now is the time to get the new QB of the future. We'd just be wasting time putting in someone that no one is high on. Maybe that's why they've been stringing Moulds along. Although Moulds complains about young QB's, I have a feeling he wouldn't have a problem with a "big name" like Matt Leinart or especially Vince Young. The way I see it going is this: 1.) Houston - Reggie Bush 2.) New Orleans - Mario Williams 3.) Tennessee - Leinart/Cutler/Young 4.) New York - D'Brickashaw Ferguson (they resigned Chad and will most likely get Ramsay) 5.) Green Bay - A.J. Hawk 6.) San Francisco - Vernon Davis (Huff or Ngata could be it as well, but i'm 75% on Davis) 7.) Oakland - Leinart/Cutler/Young 8.) Buffalo - If we're picking a QB, in a perfect world; someone would pick Cutler before us. Unlike everyone else, I feel Cutler may be good; but nowhere's near the hype he's being given. I think this QB draft is eerily similiar to the 2004 Draft. There's the #1 guy (Manning - Leinart), then there's a guy who came out of nowhere with monster hype (Rivers - Cutler), and then there's somebody who has a world of talent who unfairly drops because of silly question marks (Roethlisberger - Young). Jumping ahead of Oakland wouldn't cost much of anything either if we really wanted one of them. The bottom line is if Marv and Ralph aren't high on Losman and we address the line's in FA (one more DT and an OL or two), then we'd be dumb to pass on Leinart or Young if Ferguson and Williams are gone. Especially if the pick is Huff.
  21. I started thinking about the Moulds' situation today. Why haven't we released him yet if he wants his money or he wants out? Maybe we're waiting for the draft. Maybe we're trying to see if we can get a replacment for him and if we can't, we'll pay him. But this is a pretty poor WR draft. It was then that I realized that this draft's best TE could also be it's best WR. Vernon Davis has been described as a WR trapped in a TE's body and not a great blocker for a TE. But what if we put him at WR? Maybe we could get him to drop some weight (dear god, do you think he could get faster?!) and switch positions. Then I started thinking, maybe he could be an H-Back. The only true H-Back I could think of in the NFL was Chris Cooley. He played that position and took all the glory while they had a "Starting" TE do all the blocking. That man was Robert Royal, who as we all know is a Buffalo Bill. Perhaps that's why Marv wanted him so badly. Royal knows how to play in such a system. Perhaps it's all for naught as I see Davis possibly being gone before we pick. But with us seemingly trying to fill most of our line holes in FA, could he be the player we're shooting for? And could we just be sitting on Moulds in case we can't get him? In my opinion, that's what's going on here.
  22. I like Flanagan, but I think he's going to retire. I also like Chris Hope, but he's a FS and not a SS. I actually agree with you. But i'm probably the only one. So you might not want to say his name too loud around here. Honestly, I think we're in the perfect position to give him a shot. What could he possibly screw up? Our chemistry? What chemistry? Our QB? What QB? I think whatever team gets him will get a vastly different player. Because unlike Phili, he knows this is probably his last chance.
  23. Personally i'd like to see Buffalo talk to the following men in no particular order: OT Tom Ashworth (New England) DT Rocky Bernard (Seattle) OT Jon Runyan (Philidelphia) DE Robert Mathis (Indianapolis) OG Toniu Fonoti (Minnesota) OG Stephen Neal (New England) SS Tank Williams (Tennessee) C Jeff Mitchell (Carolina) Of that list, Tank Williams and Rocky Bernard are at the top. But perhaps they have too much of the "i've heard of him!" stigma attatched for our new look Bills to go after.
  24. Cardinals | Team would likely match any offer Wells receives Wed, 15 Mar 2006 09:26:47 -0800 Kent Somers, of the Arizona Republic, reports the Arizona Cardinals would likely match any offer restricted free agent OG Reggie Wells (Cardinals) receives, unless another team offers him an outrageous contract. The Cardinals are currently $14 million under the salary cap, making it hard for a team to structure a deal the Cardinals can't match. If we offer him an outrageous contract, i'll flip out. Some people are worth it, but I doubt an unproven Cardinal OG coming off a major ankle injury is.
  25. EXACTLY! I could easily see Marv at a press conference smiling with T.O. and saying, "I met this young man and he was a tremendous character. He made some mistakes but he assures me that he's ready to play". I feel that we're in a perfect position for him. If he does screw up again, what will happen? We're already screwed. Denying us would just screw him more.
