  1. Does anyone remember the announcers talking about how Wilson wanted Jay Cutler at the #8 spot in the 2006 NFL draft? They mentioned how he was pushing for it, but Levy talked him into the Whitner pick. They even mentioned Buffalo trying to trade back into the 1st to pick up Cutler. I could see Wilson pushing for a Cutler trade now that he's available again.....and possibly picking Scheffler up as well. Not to mention the fact that McDaniels probably wants to trade Cutler to the AFC east, just to stick it to Belichick.

To Buffalo: Cutler, Scheffler, 3rd round pick

To Denver: Edwards, 1st round pick

I would be in favor of a deal that would send Edwards to Denver and Cutler to Buffalo. But the preceding thought is a little out there and places you and I in the minority. So expect to be flamed hard in reply to your post.

This scenario has us giving up a 1st Round pick for two things that aren't needs.

Granted, we do need a TE. But with us signing T.O., the need has diminished quite a bit. On top of that fact, this is a really deep draft for TE's. We could grab one in the 2nd or 3rd that would work out just fine.

As much as the thought of Cutler throwing deep balls to Evans and T.O. makes me salivate, we can't give up our 1st.

  2. I take it you're listing players who you think may be available at 11 and not top overall right? Obviously, Aaron Curry would have to be #1 otherwise. That being said:

    1.) B.J. Raiji

    2.) Brian Orakpo

    3.) Everette Brown

4.) Malcom Jenkins - Is being projected as a S now and would be killer alongside Whitner

5.) Rey Maualuga - Move Poz to OLB and stick Rey in the middle. Wow!

I think Peria Jerry would be a HUGE reach at 11 and certainly should not be placed above Everette Brown, in my opinion.

  3. We better nab Maybin then because lord knows how great PSU been turning out defenders like LaVar Arrington, Courtney Brown, Michael Haynes and Poz (one could argue that we should have stayed put and taken David Harris instead). In terms of Raji, I doubt we'd take him if was available as it seems like the current regime seems to prefer taking needs then BPA in Round 1.

Honestly, and I might be in the minority, but I believe DT is a bigger need than DE. With Schobel coming back, I feel Kelsay/Denney/Ellis are fine.

However, on the other side of Stroud we have Kyle "Blah" Williams, Spencer "Who?" Johnson, and John "I can't even get being traded right!" McCargo.

Personally, I think Maybin is becoming ridiculously overhyped. He only played 2 years and was only decent one of them. He's vastly undersized and physically unready.

  4. Seriously, all of you who are saying we should get two firsts for Peters are crazy. Nobody gives up two firsts in an upcoming draft. Why do you think no one has made a move on Julius Peppers? And even his compensation is a 1st this year and a 1st next year.

If he's not going to sign and possibly hold out again, you have to trade him. I would look for a 1st and a mid-late round pick.

This years draft is deep with starting quality OT's (Jason Smith, Eugene Monroe, Michael Oehr, Andre Smith). One of them would be there at 11.

Then you could use that 2nd 1st on a LB, S, DE, or DT.

  5. T.O. spoke with Shredd & Reagan and was asked what number he would wear. He said that when he was given a tour of the facility he was shown a locker with an "Owens #81" jersey in it. He never brought up getting the number. The Bills insinuated that the number was his already. So did they speak with Hardy before they did this?

    PTR

I wonder why they have Owens number as "1" on the jersey pre-sale page then?

Also, if they had a jersey made, they missed the primo, cliche "holding up the jersey" photo op for nothing :(

  6. T.O. on the radio

By Chris Brown - Posted March 11th, 2009

Bills WR Terrell Owens will be making a few radio appearances in the next 24 hours. His first will be on the FAN 590 AM in Toronto at 2:05pm eastern time this afternoon.

He’ll also be on 103.3 FM The Edge at 5pm with Shredd and Ragan, and on the Bills flagship station 97 Rock Thursday morning at 7:45am.

So everyone flipping out about him being on Toronto radio needn't worry.

  7. Well, last I heard, we (reportedly) put an offer on the table for Peters a couple weeks ago. The fact that we haven't heard anything about it since is VERY discouraging.

I want Peters here manning our LT spot. But if he's going to B word or holdout again, then you have to find a trade partner.

I say that if we haven't made a new offer to him to please him, we should do it. If he turns it down, trade him. But don't give the guy away.

  8. Last year, before the season started, I bought an "authentic" James Hardy #81 throwback jersey off of eBay. I say "authentic" because it's stitched and you wouldn't be able to tell otherwise, but it's bootleg.

Now that T.O. is a Bill, I GUARANTEE you, there's no way Hardy will be #81. So now I need to find a way to alter it.

But I want the exact font and red/white style lettering. I also want a Bills 50th Anniversary patch. But the Bills website won't sell the patch seperately.

1.) Is anyone in the same boat as me with a James Hardy jersey?

2.) Does anyone know where I can find a lettering kit/exact patches? If not, does anyone know of a place that does jersey altering?

  9. Yeah, that's what I am hoping for...TE is definitely a bigger need than WR.

    Actually, we need both.

Our passing game was absolutely stagnant with the WR's we have on our roster right now and that was with a healthy James Hardy. He's going to be coming off a messed up knee.

I think there's still some WR's on the market that would be an upgrade:

Marvin Harrison - Older, but still has some game in him and will most likely play with something to prove.

Jerry Porter - The same age as Coles. Would be a solid #2.

Reggie Williams - Same age as Lee, would be a great compliment.

Amani Toomer - Older and arguably has more game in him than Marvin.

If we can swing a deal for Scheffler, we can probably get by with what we have out WR. But since we're most likely drafting a TE (that could boom or bust), we'll need another weapon.

  10. The way I see it, we're most likely going to spend a 2nd on the best available TE. Be it Jared Cook, Shawn Nelson, or Chase Coffman. I don't see us taking Pettigrew unless we trade down because it's a deep draft at TE, #11 would be a HUGE reach, and he's got character issues. So throw a 3rd there way and see if that flies. If not, try a 2nd.

We're going to spend it on an unproven TE anyways.

  11. per rotoworld.com

Why haven't we attempted to bring in a Safety yet? Phillips and Sean Jones are both young(ish) and on the market. Both would be tremendous upgrades over what we have. There were reports that we were interested in Phillips.

With Bryan Scott getting up there in age (and average at best), Ko Simpson being "worth millions" (and sucking), and us (reportedly) moving Whitner to FS; we need someone.

    And nothing? *growl*

  12. You willing to bet that barring an injury that he still isn't the first TE taken? Did you honestly think he was going to be a 4.6 kind of guy? He was always going to be a mid to late first round pick and still is projected to go there so how is his stock dropping?

There were many projecting him to go to us at #11. That talk has all but disappeared by most experts. And yes, I did expect him to run a a 4.6, at least a 4.7. Anyone who projected him to run as slow as he did is lying.

Might he still be the 1st TE taken and a mid-late 1st Rounder? Yeah, it's a definite possibility. But picked at #11 and in the top 5 players on our board? Hell no!

I realize my belief that Jared Cook is going to leapfrog him probably places me in the minority. But that's my take and i'm sticking to it.

Staranger things have happened. Who saw Donnie Avery being the first WR taken last year?

  13. I'm sorry but that just isn't true. There could not have been a scout in the NFL who expected Pettigrew to blow everyone away with his 40 time. He has never been a speed TE who was going to stretch the field like some other guys. He is a great blocker, with good hands.

Pettigrew did nothing to help his draft status but he also did nothing to hurt it. Personally, I never thought he was a real option to any team in the top 15. I've always thought he was going to be picked in the 20s. Barring an injury he is still going to be the first TE picked.

If you think that him running the 2nd slowest time among ALL of the TE's at the combine didn't hurt him; you're just downright delusional!

    ESPN.com - http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcnorth/0-2-12...FL-combine.html

"Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew ran unofficial times of 4.85 and 4.97 in the 40-yard dash this weekend. He even was granted a third run and clocked a 4.87. None of Pettigrew's times landed in the top 10 of his position, which is disappointing for the projected best tight end in the draft. Pettigrew looked nervous and had false starts twice during his runs, He is a mid-to-late first-round pick and potentially a target of the Baltimore Ravens at No. 26."

Also from ESPN.com: "Several tight ends outperform Pettigrew" - http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-5-98/...-Pettigrew.html

  14. That's a bit off, in my opinion.

1.) I think that's a bit high for B.J. Raiji. He is the #1 available DT, but I don't think he should be #3 on our board. Especially since he's a 3-4 DT and we play the 4-3.

2.) Your DE's are WAY off. Everette Brown is considered by many to be the best DE in the draft and best pass rush specialist and he's not even on your list. Aaron Maybin might have ran a slower than expected 40, but he's still the 3rd or 4th best DE (especially with his versatility). Tyson Jackson is screaming up the charts after his Combine. Sorry, but Ayers and Balwin have no business before them and are WAY to high on your list.

3.) Brandon Pettigrew's stock is dropping and dropping fast. His combine showing was very lackluster. He ran a 4.85 40 (slower than some OL). Taking him at #11 was a reach before the combine. Now it would be just downright dumb. Some are saying he might even fall out of Round 1. After running a 4.5 40, jumping an amazing 41" vertical, and catching everything thrown at him smoothly; i'd venture to say Jared Cook will be the #1 TE taken this draft.

4.) Where's Jeremy Maclin? He probably won't be there at our pick, but he's gotta be high on our list.

  15. HA! HA!! HAAAA!!!!!

Sorry but I couldn't resist to laugh at your inability to know when someone is being sarcastic.

    Yes, ha indeed.

Does anyone know if the compensation we'd have to give up for an RFA applys to this years draft or next? If we have to give up picks in next year's draft vs. this years, I think it would make a huge difference.
