  1. There are quite a handful of reserve battles on this roster. One of the more intriguing one's (in my opinion) is the battle for the #3 RB spot behind Spiller and Jackson. On one hand, you have a guy we drafted with a 5th Round Pick just last year in Johnny White. Draft picks aren't usually given up on (although it does get easier the lower they are selected) just one year from getting picked. Especially if that player hasn't played much. But he didn't show much running the football in both the preseason and the regular season. On the other hand, you've got Tashard Choice. A guy who's been around the league for a few years. More importantly, he and Gailey have a long history. He coached him in college and now he's coaching him in the pro's. We brought him in off waivers when Fred Jackson went down and he did a better job spelling Spiller than White. I figured he'd be gone at the end of the year. But, surprisingly, he came back. Surprising that they brought him back and surprising that he'd want to return to such a crowded backfield. So who's going to make it? The draft pick or Gailey's long time RB? In the end, I feel it's going to come down to who does better on Special Teams. Problem is, i'm not too positive if either is decent (or even plays) special teams. Anyone here able to comment on the Special Teams abilities of either guy?
  2. Vince Young has signed. He's a Buffalo Bill. No amount of wining or complaining is going to change that fact. No amount of "this is a bad idea!!!!" is going to matter. Quit being a hater kota. Give him a chance to suit up before you crap all over the guy and the move. Because that's all i've seen from you since he signed.
  3. Yeah, I don't see anywhere that says there will be a press conference. He was tweeting yesterday asking fans where the best places to eat in Buffalo were. So my guess is he's here to put in some work and that when he's done working, the media wants to talk to him. But really? the media can't talk to the guy without people freaking out? He's a newly signed player! We generally get a sound bite from any newly signed player. As a matter of fact, Tyler Thigpen had a Press Conference when we signed him. So it's okay for him but not for Vince? I swear to god, some of you will only be happy if he's locked in a chest and only seen if Fitz gets hurt and they open it. I really think a lot of you are making a big deal out of nothing. He's saying all the right things and I expect him to continue to at 1 PM. They're keeping him on a short leash. RELAX!
  4. I do too. But when someone who was allowed to view the practice on Friday gives details such as his ball was wobbly and at times, took to long to get there; that's hard to argue unless he was flat out lying. Considering they released Corp and still didn't sign Tanney, i'm going to say he wasn't.
  5. Joe Buscgalia stated on WGR (can be heard in the audio vault) that Tanney did not look very good. He said that his throws longer than 15 yards had a "wobble" to them. He said he didn't think that Tanney would be brought back after this weekends performance. Shucks.
  6. Just as long as you're not picturing him dancing on the sand or across the rio grande; it's all good.
  7. We did. His name is Tashard Choice. Not to mention, there's still Johnny White. We spent a mid round pick on him just last year. Although, he's yet to show me much. No, we're good on RB's. I, honestly, think that an upgrade to the QB position behind Fitz was the last real hole we had. Everyone says WR, but we drafted one with a 3rd Round Pick. Not to mention, we have a 4th Rounder (Easley) that's looking to FINALLY make his regular season debut. We also re-signed Derek Hagan, who came on last year in a very short amount of time with the team. We also signed David Clowney (quietly) who has good size, speed, and experience. The team has said some good things about him and I expect him to be an upgrade from Ruvell Martin. There's also Donald Jones and Naaman Roosevelt who are decent reserves who have chemistry with Fitz. We're set at #1 and the slot with Stevie Johnson and David Nelson. Graham and Easley will battle Jones for that 2nd position (and I expect one of them to beat him). And with all of the options above; there's only so many WR's you can keep. We're set. Barring injury or a surprise cut that is undoubtedly an upgrade, I don't think we'll be signing any more "name" players. And after the offseason they've had, that's fine with me
  8. I love how everyone is flipping out and saying "OMG Vince sucks. I hate the move. He could never play QB". He could never play QB? He's been to the Pro Bowl twice. He won the national championship in college football. He has a winning record! I don't know about you, but if Ryan Fitzpatrick goes down, I don't want to put this team in the hands of Tyler Thigpen. Vince has been a starter for most of his career. Nix is right, we have two of the top QB coaches in all of football. I just don't see why everyone's upset. He seems to be genuinely excited and is saying all the right things. I think this is a great move. Welcome VY!
  9. IN kabnt2005 WE TRUST!!!! If this is a done deal, consider my humblest public apology, kabnt2005.
  10. I can back you up on that, I did see it as well. The fact that he took it down almost immediately makes me question the source that much more. I hope he's credible, but I don't like how it's looking.
  11. One hour to go for the Bills to announce the signing of Vince Young or someone else's credibility is shot.... I want to see us sign him. I went from thinking it was a done deal to not going to happen. Then I got excited by Mort Reports and "insider info" from this thread. Now, i'm back to thinking this isn't going to happen.
  12. It actually looked like the names were put on a clear adhesive that they pressed on to the jersey after the pick was announced. They showed it very quickly in one of the draft recap videos. I thought that was a really cool thing. I'm pretty sure it was the first time they did that.
  13. Call me crazy, but i'm actually okay with our WR's. I like Stevie and I like Nelson in the slot. I think T.J. Graham and a FINALLY healthy (knock on wood) Marcus Easley will battle it out for the #2 WR spot. I feel pretty confidently that whomever comes out on top in that competition will be a real talent. I don't think both will flop in their first year. Beyond that, I really liked what Derek Hagan brought to the table in a short period of time with us last season. I was glad to see he'll be coming back to camp. David Clowney is kind of in a "do or die" situation with us this season. He's got the experience and seems to be really dedicated to making the squad. I'm pulling for him and he does have good speed, which will help him in his quest. Brad Smith and C.J. Spiller are also two players we can line up at WR and both have proven to be able to make plays. I'm down on Donald Jones and Ruvell Martin, however. Martin is decent on Special Teams, but he's dreadful as a receiver. I'd rather see Naaman Roosevelt and Kamar Aiken return than them. Long story short, I think we're good. If someone really special gets released for some odd reason, that'd be one thing. But an aging, bouncing around the league Braylon Edwards? I don't think he's a fit.
  14. http://m.nflplayers.com/Articles/Press-Releases/2012-NFLPA-Rookie-Premiere-Presented-by-Nike-Announced/ Pretty cool. It'll be the first time someone wears the new uniforms and helmet at the Rookie Premiere. I thought it was kinda lame that Dareus was wearing those garbage Donahoe era jerseys on all his cards last year. I just hope he doesn't play in that flag football game. It's stupid to me that they'd even have one. Suggs' injury happened playing a simple game of basketball; it's not worth the minimal risk.
  15. I don't think that Lee Smith is some kind of lock to make the roster. As a matter of fact, in my honest opinion, it's Scott Chandler and everybody else. I think whichever two of Smith, Onobun, Caussin, and Brock have the best camp/preseason are the one's that will make it.
  16. I don't like this move. Both CB's we drafted, regardless of their potential, have never played a down in the NFL. McGee is always one play away from IR. McKelvin can't be counted on. I just feel that Drayton was the most reliable of any of our CB's. Now the position is in even bigger question mark.
  17. Alright, well, what's going on? The practice is over. Is he flying home? Is he negotiating a deal? Kinda odd that they'd post about the workout being done and nothing else.
  18. I think that's a bit of a reach. If he was unenthused, I don't think he would have posted anything. To borrow a line from Bulldog on WGR, after the offseason Nix has put together so far, he has a HUGE line of credit with me. If he thinks it's a good idea, what in the blue hell happened to the "In Buddy we trust" mantra?!
  19. http://m.galesburg.com/regmail/pm_29495/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=eoSsxIzy
  20. He isn't signed to anyone. He was going to come into the Steelers rookie mini-camp to tryout. But he changed his mind and decided the better opportunity was to come to our mini-camp. http://m.galesburg.com/regmail/pm_29495/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=eoSsxIzy
  21. If he's coming in to be the backup, what's the harm? What kind of serious damage can he do? I, for one, see a LOT of team chemistry building. Everybody seems to be on the same page. VY gets on that page or there's the door. Same goes for everyone else on the roster. Chan and Buddy run a pretty tight ship. Aside from making a bonehead remark about being "The Dream Team" last year, what has he really done to deserve such a cancer label? He made some mistakes in Tennessee, but he seems to have learned from them. I see far more upside and insurance in a move like this then I do pessimism. Low risk, potential high reward. We're not asking him to be the face of the franchise here people. We're just asking him to be an upgrade to Tyler Thigpen. Relax.
  22. Ugh, I really can't stand the idea of going into this season with Tyler Thigpen as our backup again. I keep picturing the time he got boinked in the skull with a football on national television. I keep thinking of the veteran backup who showed me nothing in training camp, nothing in the preseason, and then, when our starter had cracked ribs and played like a dead man; we still didn't put the guy in. I think we intended on grabbing either Kirk Cousins, Brock Osweiler, or Russell Wilson in the 4th Round. I think we expected one of those guys to be there and honestly, so did I. I was surprised to see Wilson go in the 3rd and pissed when Washington picked Kirk Cousins so close to our 4th Pick. Aaron Corp is another arm in camp. That's it. I really don't think he's who Buddy was referring to. Calling Corp "a really good one" is kind of a stretch if you ask me. He played so/so for the Richmond Spiders after flaming out almost immediately at USC. Anything's possible, but I don't think Buddy's pinning our backup QB situation as Tyler Thigpen, Aaron Corp, and/or Brad Smith. At least, I hope not. I hope that someone surprising gets released between now and the start of camp that can provide us with a little more insurance.
  23. Look, Brian Quick was the guy we liked. The guy we wanted. The big, physical receiver who's open even when he isn't. Besides Blackmon, he's the only guy we brought in at WR. I wanted us to draft him really bad. Most projected him at the bottom of the 2nd, top of the 3rd. I had heard the Bills were hoping to draft him in the 3rd. Brian Quick was the #1 Pick in the 2nd Round. He didn't even make it to our 2nd Pick, let alone 3rd. So at that point, with the run on receivers, we needed a guy that would at least spread the field. T.J. Graham is a track runner and a guy that McShay said was "quickly climbing draft boards" and a guy that urged him to say "You're gonna love this guy Boomer!". By all accounts, he's an underrated prospect who the Bills timed faster than Lee Evans coming out of college. We had to address LT by Round 2 at the latest. By the end of Round 2, no WR on the board was without flaws. We grabbed the guy that best fit what we needed at that position. And, honestly, even if this pick was a reach (which I don't), we had MANY picks with ridiculous value. Not many were talking about Antonio Brown or Mike Wallace on draft day either. They worked out pretty well.
  24. Yep. I think if Washington hadn't picked him, Kirk Cousins would have been our first 4th. Now i'm even more pissed about Washington taking him.
