  1. In Year 1 - 5th's are almost never cut outright, 4th's are never cut. Take a look at our past Draft's and you'll see that. It's Round's 6 and 7 that are on the bubble in Year 1. Like I said, we don't need 10 picks. But this idea that we don't need Day 3 picks or more than a few picks because the roster is just stacked is simply not true. On open roster spots for Week 1 alone, there's: 1 WR (lost Cooper and Hollins, replaced 1 spot with Palmer) 1 TE (lost Morris) 1 DE (lost Miller and Smoot, replaced both spots with Bosa and Hoecht - but Hoecht suspended) 2-3 DT (lost Johnson, Jefferson, and Phillips, replaced 1 spot with Ogunjobi - but Ogunjobi suspended) 1 CB (lost Douglas and Elam, replaced 1 spot with Jackson) And that's not even taking into account positions like LB and S, where they could look to upgrade depth (or more in terms of Safety) from. Or another CB if they liked someone more than Dane Jackson. We could easily find room for a full Draft this year and guys in the 4th or 5th would definitely make this team. And for a number of those spots, we need big help. We'll be leaning on this Draft way more than you're giving it credit for.
  2. That's why OP's idea of giving up like everything above Round 6 on Day 3 doesn't really track with me. 4th's and later don't often become stars. But you never know when you're going to land on a Khalil Shakir, Taron Johnson, Matt Milano, or Christian Benford. So you don't want to just say "F it - take a million of these picks". We'll definitely move around the board as we don't need 10 picks. But we will be leaning on this Draft more than I expected. We didn't do as much as I expected in Free Agency and then the suspensions came in for Hoecht and Ogunjobi. So we won't need 10. But we're not in a position to just be like "take 4 players in the 2nd and call it a day". That's why if I were to see something like what OP is suggesting - it would make more sense to trade down, pick up an 11th pick, and then move 2 or 3 in Rounds 4 and/or 5 to get back into the 3rd. Still maintaining picks in 4 and 5. You could move up in those Rounds too if there's guys he likes.
  3. 30? He's a guy who has a 3rd Round grade. Wasn't even selected in the TBD Mock. Even the article from which you quoted says: "Robinson is a consensus Day 2 pick by teams and could sneak into the late part of the second round, which is justifiable in my opinion."
  4. I don't see all *that* happening. But I could see a scenario where they trade out of the 1st Round to the top of the 2nd, pick up another pick, have 3 picks in the 2nd Round - then move up from the 4th into the 3rd with extra picks. Having 3 2nd's and a 3rd, while still having quite a bit in Rounds 4-6.
  5. Some guys will take a bit of a discount to play for the teams they would prefer to play for. But there's a limit to that. No one takes a 56% discount. Especially since they didn't go after him earlier in the offseason. If they wanted him, they could have easily made that happen. Instead they brought back Damar Hamlin and signed Darrick Forrest. I'm sure we'll Draft a guy at some point too. And at least one, possibly two of the field of Hamlin, Forrest, and the Draft Pick (depending on where they're selected) will be cut. If Simmons were something they were interested, I really think they'd have been in on him earlier.
  6. It's a nothing post. It just says that a Vegas Bookie (Bovada) lists Buffalo as the most likely to land him according to their current betting odds IF he were to be traded. There's betting odds for tons of different players every year and only an extremely small percentage of them actually are traded. It's easy money for Vegas. Place a bet on a player being traded somewhere and if they aren't traded, it's free money. If I had a nickel for every player we were "favored" by Vegas to trade for that wasn't traded and/or wasn't traded to us over the years. That being favored to land Myles Garrett really got us far, for example.
  7. Everyone who's floating out there right now are in limbo. The league is on to the Draft. That's why you're hearing so much "i'd love to play for" so and so lately. They're getting stir crazy. Simmons will get a starting role somewhere post-Draft from someone who's board didn't fall right at Safety. Doubtful that will be us. We're bringing back everyone from last season and a Diamond in the Rough type in Forrest. We'll probably Draft someone somewhere and they'll be set in their eyes. They could have had him last year if they wanted and passed. I'd be surprised if they wanted him now at 32 years old.
  8. Makes sense. He's been very solid at both Guard and Center. He's in the last year of his deal and we could save up to 4.2m in cap space for Post-Draft acquisitions by extending him. I'm all for it.
  9. DK Metcalf was traded for 52 and you think we're getting 44 for a Running Back? And a high 3rd for Kincaid, coming off last season?
  10. If he wants to be paid what he wants, that's only going to serve to bring his number down - not up. There's been no reports that he's going to hold out. On the contrary, the last we've heard is "he's playing for the Buffalo Bills this season".
  11. Why? Reports are he's playing for us this season. No reports yet of any holdout. Even his brother, who is looked at as a negative influence, knew better than to hold out in 2020 even when he threatened to (which to date, James hasn't). Without Cook, we don't beat the Ravens. Without Cook, we wouldn't have stayed alive in the Chiefs game. We don't know if a Rookie is going to give us that. We don't even know that we won't bring him back after this season. We invested a 2nd in him, we should at least get the full Rookie contract out of him. Have him on the roster playing his hardest in the Playoffs trying to get paid. If someone pays him what he's asking, we'll get more in a compensatory pick than his worth this year and we'll have him on the Roster this year. I know it's the time of the season where you get completely manic about trading players for more picks. But it doesn't make sense to give him up and another pick this offseason for a prospect to replace him. You'd have had us trading away Dion Dawkins a couple years ago. You'd have had us trading Spencer Brown last season. If the team listened to you, they'd be trading away anyone of value on a yearly basis over lottery tickets that you get enamored with at this point in the offseason. And Cook and a 4th isn't getting you to where you need to go to grab Henderson anyways. Worry about re-signing him or replacing him next offseason. We have enough to do this year without creating more holes.
  12. Don't get me wrong, I was a big fan of McGee. But his 2nd team All Pro's and 2 Pro Bowls were as a Return Man. If this were for the Greatest Returner in Franchise History - he'd be my vote. But OP was questioning if he tops Odomes as the Greatest CB in Franchise History. He was a good CB. But he's definitely the best in Franchise History as strictly a CB. Personally, I count the Return stuff as a separate category.
  13. Terrence McGee was a pretty decent Corner and an elite Returner. But as a Corner, he wouldn't be that high up on the list.
  14. It's not an "easy cut" if he makes the team and we're relying on him and he does something like, I don't know, brings loaded guns to the airport or misses curfew with the team and we have to move on mid season from someone we were counting on. The guy did criminal acts five years apart. Then showed continued immaturity with things like staying out past curfew the night before a game and even pranking a child, literally playing the Grinch on Christmas Day. These aren't little things or a young guy making a single mistake. It's a character concern ledger dripping red and showing a sustained pattern over years. The Raiders, who already lost a CB in FA and have less than we do at the position got rid of him while he was still on his cheap Rookie deal. I don't think this is the type of guy the Bills would want to take on even if he were a Superstar. And he's far from that.
  15. For reals. If it were reported the Chiefs were looking at bringing JaMarcus Russell out of retirement there'd be posters on here saying "he's a #1 overall pick talent, we can't let them get him!"
  16. Convicted of Burglary in 2018, arrested for bringing two loaded guns to the Airport in 2023 - those aren't disruptions so much as a criminal risk. That's not even taking into account being immature enough to miss curfew on the road (which must have been pretty flagrant bc it's not something you hear of happening) and be cut for it. Or presenting a child fan of the opposing team a football and pulling it back on them on Christmas Day. There's been no reports of anything happening in Vegas, but them cutting him as well is an eyebrow raiser - as their CB situation isn't very good either and they made the decision to cut ties with him too.
  17. Dane is in the Drafted list to show that of the 8 CB's that were Drafted, they came away with 3 that were good starters. The idea that so many posters have that "McDermott can turn water into wine", as you put it, with any CB Drafted anywhere drives me up a wall. It's simply not true. And even examples like Dane Jackson, Levi Wallace, Cam Lewis, and Ja'Marcus Ingram isn't so much turning water into wine as turning water into soda. Yes, the return on investment of a 7th Rounder and UDFA into a serviceable NFL depth players is good. But you don't want any of those players starting. I totally agree that they shouldn't force a pick at 30 if the value isn't there. But I really feel they need to walk away with a CB in the first Two Rounds somewhere. If the value isn't there at 30, go elsewhere. But if they feel someone they like won't be there at 56, they should move up a bit from there.
  18. I saw that. Seemed like an excuse after getting bad press bc that's easily remedied. You just point at the man and say it's for the kid - back off. Not to mention him laughing afterwords.
  19. Cancelled their workout with Travis Hunter too. They're purposely telling the league "we're taking Cam Ward". I think it's a strategic move to get better offers from teams that may have fallen in love with him and need a QB. That's not to say they'll definitely trade the pick. They'll very likely just stand pat and take him. But it's obvious they want teams to know they're taking him.
  20. He's on his way to his third team since being Drafted in 2022. And there's good reason for that, beyond his play last season: - On June 8, 2018, Jones was arrested at a Panda Express in Santa Paula, California, for commercial burglary. He pled guilty to commercial burglary, a second-degree misdemeanor, and served 45 days of house arrest. - Jones was arrested on June 16, 2023, at Boston's Logan Airport when two loaded guns were found in his carry-on baggage by Transportation Security Administration agents. - The night before the Patriots Week 9 game vs the Washington Commanders, Jones missed curfew at the team hotel and was benched and played a reduced role. He also played a career-low 10 snaps vs the Indianapolis Colts the next week He was waived the next day on November 13, 2023. And obviously not on the same level as the first 3, but shows the kind of genius you're dealing with in Jones: - Then the next week on Christmas Day, in a Week 16 victory against Kansas City Chiefs, he intercepted a Patrick Mahomes pass, returning it for his second touchdown in two weeks. Following the touchdown, in celebration, Jones offered the intercepted ball to a young Chiefs fan. Jones then snatched the ball back after the child reached out to grab it. You think this is someone Beane and McDermott would be interested in giving opportunity 3 and bringing in their locker room? I don't think they'd want him if he were a Superstar. And Jack Jones is FAR from that.
  21. Perhaps you weren't who I should be replying to. The discussion of his development is used to say you don't need to Draft a CB until Day 3. Like he can turn any CB into a Starter. When the truth is that Dane Jackson is not a good starter. Levi Wallace was not a good starter. They were placeholders that we always tried to Draft replacements for and walked away from the second someone offered more than a couple million. And each of them would go on to get cut in quick succession by the teams that did. For every very good CB Drafted and developed in Tre White, Christian Benford, and Taron Johnson there's been a Kaiir Elam, Alex Austin, Rachad Wildgoose, Dane Jackson, and Daequan Hardy. For every Levi Wallace, Cam Lewis, and Ja'Marcus Ingram - there's been countless UDFA's that went the way of most UDFA's. And again, none of them are good starters. Just decent depth players. All this to say that this idea that McDermott is such a good developer of CB talent that he can turn anyone into a good starter isn't true. Just like any position, you might get lucky. But the odds are against it.
  22. You wouldn't be Drafting him as a Backup. At least not in my eyes and those who are advocating for it. Daquan Jones absolutely shouldn't be starting for us. Maybe he could rotate in occasionally as a Backup. But preferably and more likely, he'd be a Post June 1 cut. He was abysmal last season and has very likely hit the wall.
  23. I can understand the opinion that a second solid starting CB may help the team more. But the fact does remain that right now we have Daquan Jones starting and literally no one behind him. Can't even take him off the field and in my opinion, he shouldn't even be on the team anymore. Week 1 we only have Ed Oliver, Daquan Jones, and Dewayne Carter at DT. That's it. Unless you want to rely on Branson Deen and Zion Logue from the Practice Squad.
