  1. I don't want to "see what EJ has" unless he beats out Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor, and preferably another QB from Day 3 of the draft.
  2. I love Spikes and i'd love for him to be back. But we've heard Whaley all but say he won't be coming back and now we've heard Spikes all but say he won't be coming back. The writing's pretty much on the wall. The promo for his appearance on NFL Total Access tonight has the hosts saying "We've got Brandon Spikes in studio and he's looking for a new team". I think it's time to get real. We all look like Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber right now: "So you're saying there's a chance!"
  3. I thought for sure he'd take #11. It's what he wore in Seattle and now that he's here, I doubt Marcus Thigpen's being brought back. But then again - he might want to forget about his time in Seattle. He had a helluva game in their Super Bowl win though.
  4. Not at 50. Briles is crazy if he thinks Petty's going Round 1. Round 3 - sure.
  5. The New York Jets agreed to terms with Antonio Cromartie last Thursday and he just signed his contract this morning. So I guess it's not so abnormal that Harvin hasn't officially been inked and announced yet.
  6. @InsideNFLMedia: Spikes on the Bills: "Of course I would like to go back but you know how it goes in this league. Guys with new staff they like their guys."
  7. He's right. They aren't the same player. Julius Thomas is a glorified WR. Charles Clay might not be as prolific as a catcher, but he's much more versatile. And i'd understand the tweet if we were paying more than Thomas - but even Wingo cites the guarantee is about 20 percent less with Clay.
  8. @hsimon62: if you are worried about the cap w/report that Clay's 2016 cap # will be around 12 million. don't worry. even w/dareus coming up (1/2) @hsimon62: as per http://t.co/TfHg2CvTtL, #Bills top 51 contracts in 2016 take up $109 million in space. some are projecting 2016 cap to be around 160m @hsimon62: Bills would have room to cover Dareus and Gilmore. Bills have till May 3rd to exercise a 2016 option on Gilmore which would cost 10M plus @hsimon62: they haven't touched mario williams contract yet and he has cap # of 19m plus. they can re-structure to clear more room if they want @hsimon62: great to have filthy rich owners who will spend whatever it takes including bonus money that lowers cap #'s to sign/keep key players
  9. I don't think Clay is a 12 mil cap hit this year. It has been reported that it will be 12 next season. This season is probably a smaller cap number along with a big signing bonus.
  10. By your math, when he agreed at 3:15 on Friday, a day already passed? No - Friday at 3:15 to Saturday at 3:15 counts as 1 day passed. We're currently just beyond 4 days since the announcement by Adam Schefter. Tomorrow at 3:15 will be going on Day 5. If they get there. Not much longer than the wait on the other deals.
  11. Considering he agreed late in the afternoon on Friday, your math is a little off. Everybody just chill. It'll be announced within the next day or so, i'm sure. Just like all the other deals. Sorry reddogblitz - this is going to happen.
  12. I hope they fly Harvin in tomorrow to sign his deal now that they banged out the Charles Clay contract.
  13. When you consider the fact that there's 64 starting Guards in the NFL - being ranked 50th best would make him a very good backup.
  14. I was saying I preferred keeping him at 1.2 rather than cutting him and getting back said 1.2 on top of what we have already saved Because most backup Guards are below average starters. It's the same way Kyle Orton was considered a top tier backup QB - but an average at best starter.
  15. I think that's very smart! Urbik is an average starter and a very solid backup. There was a lot of speculation that we would cut both him and Chris Williams to free up space to get a better Guard. But I like Urbik taking a substantial pay cut and staying instead of losing him and gaining another 1.2 mil. Chris Williams on the other hand....
  16. I really don't think there's any way with the amount of cap space each side allegedly has that either is hamstringed by this Clay pissing contest. If Miami really has 21 million in space, they could sign a couple more guys AND Clay to the tender if they so chose. And if we have 14 million in space (both figures based off Omar Kelly last night), we could get another lineman and sign Clay if we so chose. If you look at who's left on the market - who is Miami being kept from signing? It's pretty much bargain shopping now. I just don't see much of a point to all of this besides pride. It's beyond ridiculous at this point.
  17. I feel like Whaley supplied the "90 percent chance Clay ends up a Bill" story to Vic Carucci for us impatient fans. Because he knows the staring contest with Miami isn't ending anytime soon. I hope i'm wrong because this whole process is getting really annoying.
  18. I really hope he signs with San Diego. I really don't want to cheer against Stevie.
  19. "Charles Clay Interest" was on the ticker for ESPN's NFL Insiders just now. So I watched and it was Josina Anderson giving the latest on Charles Clay and the Bills. Which wasn't much of an update, but I figured i'd transcribe it for those interested:
  20. Perhaps - who knows but them? I just know that when the jet was originally being tracked by posters during the coaching search, they traveled to Boca a few times and it was stated they resided there when not in town.
  21. The Pegula's have a home in Boca Raton. The plane is always flying back and forth between there and Buffalo. I take it as them flying home. Perhaps Clay met them there. But generally Boca Raton on the Pegula jet don't mean jack.
  22. These are from last night and 6 pages of this thread ago. Which in "Clay Watch" time is like 2 years ago...
  23. This didn't deserve it's own thread. It's just specuation from someone with less credibility than half of us posters.
  24. @mikerodak: Im told Tyrod Taylor turned down more from Broncos to sign w/ Bills. Its a 3-year deal that voids to 2 years if he emerges as starter. I know it's all about our QB situation - but how often do you hear someone turn down more money from the Denver Broncos to join the Bills?
