  1. Welp. There goes that. Time to sit around the table and have internal discussions about other Free Agents. SLOW and steady wins the race!
  2. If i'm signing another ancient RB, i'm going with Adrian Peterson.
  3. I keep seeing the Lions name attached to just about everyone. Seems like their brass likes to puff a lot of smoke.
  4. In a vacuum - probably not. However given: - The amount of money that they have that must be used. - The glaring need for at least one stud WR. - The large amount of Offensive Lineman worth taking at #9 in the First Round vs. the small amount (maybe 1?) of WR's worth taking at #9. - The large amount of decent FA Offensive Lineman that could be had with no compensation vs. almost no WR's. A trade is almost neccessary to upgrade our WR core in a substantial way. In this case, it lines up in a way that if it were to ever happen - now would be the time.
  5. We have Hyde and Poyer. Hell, we don't even need a 3rd Vet Safety off the bench because they signed Rafael Bush to a multi-year deal just last season.
  6. Because there will almost assuredly be a difference maker at another position of need that won't be a reach at #9. If we were to sign Saffold and Morse - that's going to eat up a HUGE chunk of our cap space. I'm not saying don't Draft a Lineman at all. I'm just saying using that much cap space on two stud FA Lineman and then the #9 overall is putting too many resources into one place. When this team needs a lot.
  7. If they go all in and sign Saffold AND Morse (or Paradis) - Round 1 needs to go to skill positions or D-Line. We have other holes than just the O-Line.
  8. If they're willing to put in all the special treatment he requires at this stage in his career, if he is able to avoid any big hits to his knees or back, and if he and Rosen have a natural chemistry - it could work for a year or two. But those are a lot of 'if's'. Personally, I think he's toast. But for 1 year 3.5 - it's worth a shot for them.
  9. He's been a starter pretty much his whole career. We just signed him to a 3 year deal up to 5 mil a season. I don't want him to be the starter either. But as it stands now, he's the 8th highest paid player on the whole team. I can't fathom paying that for a backup Center. Especially when you see what they were paying Groy and Bodine to be their starter(s) last season. It's more than both of them combined. But for the sake of argument, let's say he is depth. Do you really see them going out and signing one of the top Centers to a big time FA deal with that contract already on the books? No way they invest that much in to one position.
  10. I hope i'm wrong but even without financial details - signing him to a 3 year deal doesn't scream tryout or backup to me. Seeing what he made in New York, I doubt he's coming at league minimum. I'm afraid that they did their homework on Paradis and that this says he's not coming.
  11. I like Phillips - but I don't know if this gets done. I have this feeling that someone will offer more than we will be wanting to spend on him. That we're looking at him as part of a rotation and that someone will sign him to start.
  12. Don't anyone dare point out that it's another Panthers hire. Lest you wish to be pelted with rocks from the crowd of people who get strangely defensive of it and are convinced there's no such trend.
  13. He's kept his nose clean since, that's great. It doesn't change the fact he was caught on video swinging fists like a madman on a downed woman. That's unforgivable. Playing in the NFL and making millions is a privilege that man does not deserve.
  14. I just knew there'd be a few people saying Jordan Palmer. Keep in mind - he's worked with almost every QB worth a lick coming out of college for the past few seasons. And I have a feeling he will continue to. He's got a real cushy gig and no one even knows if he even wants to be an NFL coach. His business relationship with Josh Allen is no different than it has been with a number of other QBs coming into the league. What makes you think Josh is so special that Jordan is all of a sudden going to stop what he's doing to focus solely on him?
  15. So if you see staff, players, and now coaches - a long list (of which you can apparently add on to) - how can you say there's no pipeline?
  16. It's not just KB. There's Derek Anderson, Mike Tolbert (former), Star Lotulelei, Kaelin Clay (former), and Dean Marlowe. All off the top of my head. Beane followed McDermott from Carolina. And he went on to add his Carolina buddy Joe Schoen (who left for Miami before this season) and Dan Morgan (who is as Carolina as it comes). Perhaps it's a little overblown by fans and the media. But to say there hasn't been a pipeline or connection is to take it from one extreme to another.
  17. They should care. Optics are very important in sports, especially football. If it works, there's obviously no issue. But if it doesn't work - perception is reality. And the perception is that they appear to dependent on their former team and connections there.
  18. I owned the 'coaches' part in the last post, "slappy". Not sure what else you want. Or why you're singling me out when i'm far from the only person here (or in the media) pointing out that the Carolina/Ron Rivera connection gets reached out to often. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/01/15/heath-farwell-headed-to-bills-as-special-teams-coach/
  19. Specifically assistant coaches, correct. They haven't and I shouldn't have specified coaches. But overall with this team - you can't argue that there's in an inordinate amount of holes in Buffalo that seem to get filled by the Carolina Panthers pipeline. Even the national media picks up on it.
  20. No. If he's the best man for the job, he's the best man for the job. But they're a first time HC and a first time GM. It's a really bad look to consistently be reaching out to your former team for everything. They obviously don't care. If it works, it works. But when it doesn't (KB?), they look like they don't know what they're doing.
  21. The way I see it - he'll get the 2019 and 2020 seasons no matter what. I have faith Allen will be solid with a better line and better weapons. But if he fails in year three, you move heaven and earth to get to #1 in 2021 for Trevor Lawrence. That would be my plan.
