  1. I'll give him credit for going down with the ship. Doubling down on a poor hand in hopes that something miraculous happens rather than backing off. That said, I'm sure when it doesn't happen, he'll say something like "They really were in it but (whoever trades for him) swooped in at the last second and made a better offer AZ couldn't refuse" to try and save face. Either way, whether or not it happens, this guy's a nobody who knows nothing. EDIT: Just noticed he doesn't mention Hopkins, just trades in general. So if they trade for a player, trade up, or trade down, ANY trade - he'll claim he was right. Genius 🤣
  2. DHop be like "Damn, everyone knows Buffalo isn't happening. Time to shift my teases to facilitate my move to a different team"
  3. Exactly. This post is for in the moment on Draft Day reactions. Anyone who says they wanted Cooper Kupp over Zay Jones on Draft Day is a liar.
  4. That's true. And Murray could always fill that Duke Johnson Practice Squad vet RB role and I think he'd be a good fit there.
  5. I think Harty could be. The cost Beane paid says to me he believes he could be too and other people around the league felt the same. I think we will take a WR and a TE in this Draft. But with the glaring hole at MLB, I don't think we wait until Round 3 to address it. Especially if we take a weapon with our 1st Pick.
  6. 2 marquee offensive playmakers is a big ask. Unless one of them succeeds expectation selected in the 3rd or 4th Rounds, we have to get a LB to replace Edmunds and at least get some depth on the OL in this Draft too. So we can't go back to back on Pass Catchers.
  7. We simply couldn't/can't afford OBJ or Hopkins. Jerry Jeudy isn't available. I don't know where the idea came from. But logically - it doesn't make sense. Sean Payton came out of "Retirement" to team up with Russell Wilson and revitalize his career following last season. Why would he then trade away Russ' #1 WR? Never made sense to me to begin with and then he outwardly said Jeudy isn't going anywhere: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35961376/sean-payton-broncos-not-trading-jerry-jeudy-courtland-sutton But the fact that he did look into OBJ and Hopkins says to me that they will look to Draft one of those guys early. My hope is that the reports of teams not being as high on the 1st Round WR's is true and that they fall, JSN and Flowers are the first to go, and Johnston either falls right to us or comes close enough that we wouldn't have to spend too much to move up and get him. Or since we've done such work on JSN and Flowers, maybe he views Harty as more of an outside Deep Threat than a Slot. In which case, maybe he takes a JSN or a Flowers to put in the Slot and Harty and Davis split the 2 Spot on the Outside. With Diggs and either JSN or Flowers being his go to guys.
  8. Waiting for someone to say Adam Schefter doesn't know what he's talking about and isn't connected and repost an old ErieCountyBulls tweet. After the OBJ deal was done, this idea that Hopkins would take a team friendly deal (which was out there to begin with) went out the window. If there isn't a team in the league that will pay Arizona's cost and Hopkins price - we surely won't. That said, I'm still pretty confident we'll be taking a WR in Round 1 (maybe even trading up) or Round 2. Gabe was never going to be completely benched. He'll still get a good amount of reps as a 2A or 2B. But I think after it was clear they couldn't get Hopkins or OBJ done, the mentality is "on to the Draft".
  9. I mean, we do need someone for that Matt Breida/TJ Yeldon break glass in case of emergency role. McDermott has only ever dressed 3 RB's on Game Day, 1 of which was a Special Teamer. James Cook, Damien Harris, and Nyheim Hines will all dress (and Hines will provide more on offense than Taiwan Jones and Senorise Perry offered). So we do need a 4th guy on the roster who won't dress unless there's an injury. That said, I expected and prefer a 5th or 6th Rounder instead. Someone you could strike Gold on.
  10. Quentin Johnston is also my target for those very reasons. We have slot covered with Harty and Shakir. You don't need 3 slots, that's why McKenzie was let go. When it comes to the First Round WR talents, Johnston is the only true Boundary WR. My hope is that the WR's fall and that teams take JSN and Flowers (who is REALLY picking up steam) ahead of Johnston and he's in striking range of not giving up too much.
  11. After signing Connor McGovern (who played some Center in college), David Edwards, and Re-Signing Ike Boettger with Ryan Bates (who plays Center) and Mitch Morse still in the fold - I don't see IOL in Round 2. I think they Draft 1 IOL (to possibly take Boettger's roster spot) and 1 OT (to possibly take Tommy Doyle's roster spot) before the end of the Draft but not before Round 3. I don't think he's looking to outright replace either Bates or Brown - but to add depth and competition. But I would agree that's a better option to use resources on than DT with Oliver, Jones, Phillips, and Settle under contract for this season. IMO Rounds 1 and 2 have to be another weapon for Josh in the passing game and a replacement for Edmunds.
  12. I'm surprised the mods have let this title stand for so long. So incredibly misleading. It should just say "Devin White requests Trade". I saw this post and thought we had traded for him.
  13. I think, as I stated in earlier posts, if Beane went WR in Round 1 and then saw Campbell and Simpson go at 31 and 32 respectively - he'd have moved up by 43 to secure Sanders before he was selected at 44. But since trading up isn't really a thing in this exercise - I think if he stood put at 59, he'd have taken Henley a little early (and I think the 3rd Round grade is a little low IMHO). I just don't see a way he'd completely neglect a glaring need this year for help next year. Unless he's in love with another Bernard like LB'er that is expected to go later.
  14. Addison and going WR Round 1 to me isn't the issue. I actually expect WR Round 1. But not taking a MLB in Round 1 or Round 2 - that I don't see. Especially taking a DT. That's something we take care of next year, not this year with the holes we have.
  15. Geesh - with the way fans are voting, we better hope there's a decent MLB available in Round 3. Can't believe people are going for DT before Henley here.
  16. Well I'm just talking about this particular situation where we've taken Addison at 27. I think those first 2 Rounds have to be WR and LB. And if he watched 2 MLB's go at 31 and 32 and Drew Sanders was still on the board - he wouldn't let him get to 44. I do agree that OL help won't come until Round 3, at the earliest. My ideal situation would be 2 OL and 1 TE between Rounds 3 and 5. I think he wants to bring in competition for Brown, but I don't see him drafting one higher than where he drafted Brown (in Round 3). I don't think he's ready to outright replace Brown, which is what he'd be doing taking an OT in Round 1 or 2.
  17. I think if we stayed put at 27 and took Addison and then Jack Campbell and Trenton Simpson went 31 and 32 - he'd have moved up to take Drew Sanders by the time he went at 44. At this point, with all 3 of those gone, if you have 1 LB left with a 2nd Round grade, that should be the pick if they're still on the board.
  18. For me, it's Quentin Johnston. He's not a finished product - but he's the best true Outside WR with the blend of size and speed I think we're looking for. He'll need some coaching up, but when it comes to guys like JSN and Flowers - you're looking at guys who have predominately played Slot and project to Slots in the NFL. We have that position covered with Harty and Shakir already. We need another boundary WR. If Beane believes JSN can play outside on this team though, I'd be all for it.
  19. And here I thought you might finally be coming around to a 1st Round WR being the most likely move we'd be making at WR help alongside Diggs and Davis. Then you post 1st Round WR... AND Hopkins? That's never going to happen. They aren't going to go from thinking Gabe Davis is showing enough promise as a #3 that he should get a shot at #2, to he failed at #2 - so demote him to #4. We have Stefon Diggs, a top 5 WR in this league who we're paying like a top 5 WR in the league. At most, you're going to bring in 1 stud acquistion alongside him. No team carries 2 Top 10 WR's and then trades up in the 1st Round to take another, who's ceiling would be WR3. That's Madden level ridiculous. It's one or the other. Either would put us in a MUCH better situation than most teams in the league. And with OBJ being paid what he was paid, it makes the minimal chance we could make Hopkins happen even less at this point. We have holes on this team, places that need upgrade, and places lacking depth. We can't afford to use Draft resources to trade up and select a WR, Draft resources to trade for Hopkins, and large amounts of cap space for Hopkins all at one position and neglect places like MLB, OL, and TE.
  20. PFT agrees with me that if the rumors are legit, it's probably for a WR.
  21. If signing Richie James and their cap situation not being great removes KC, in your mind, than our cap situation and signing Deonte Harty and Trent Sherfield would remove us as well. Between our Jordan Phillips deal not being on the books and their James deal not being on the books, our cap situation isn't much different. And we have a better WR core than they do, at the moment. KC doesn't have a true #1 right now. They only have MVS, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, and Richie James - after losing Mecole Hardman and JuJu Smith-Schuster in FA. After what OBJ just got, I don't see the Bills or the Chiefs being able to afford Hopkins. I think we'll both be Drafting WR's within the first 2 Rounds.
  22. No, the Jets never even made sense to me for OBJ. They have Garrett Wilson and already signed Mecole Hardman and Allen Lazard. They aren't breaking the bank for Hopkins too. But I think you're right. If there was any hope that Hopkins might take a pay cut, that flew out the window with the money OBJ got. Absolutely insane Baltimore paid that.
  23. Knox is a good Tight End that we pay like a Top 5 TE. I think Knox is decent. But he's not a Game Changer. It seems like for every "wow!" low percentage catch he somehow manages to pull in against all odds, he has another high percentage catch hit him right in the hands that he drops. I don't think fans who don't think that he's on the level of Kelce and Kittle are "knocking" him. Nor is the idea we should get another TE in here on his level a knock on him. I like Dawson. But there's a good percentage of teams that run 2TE packages. I think that was the plan when we signed OJ Howard. It just didn't work out. Having 2 TE's at a high level would allow us to run 2TE packages. It would keep both Dawson and he fresh when only 1 TE is on the field. And Dawson may be good, but what happens if he gets hurt? Josh needs more reliable pass catchers at the ready. Another TE provides that and it gives us insurance if Dawson gets dinged up. As good as you think he is, we have to have someone solid with him and he can't be on the field every single play.
  24. Because a.) Knox is good, but not great. He has a number of frustrating drops. And b.) We have nothing else there. If we want to run 2 TE sets, it would be good to have another solid TE. And if Knox gets hurt, we're pretty much nowhere.
  25. I guess I don't know how contracts work. How can you give someone a base salary of 1m+ and incentives of 3m and then give them a 13m+ signing bonus? I thought bonus' had to be a percentage of a contract? How can you give someone a bonus that's like 4 times the amount of the actual contract?
