  1. He's not ancient. But he will be entering his 11th season in the NFL. I don't pretend to have followed him closely over the past season. But I can't imagine if his skills weren't eroding with age at 32 years old this year, they'd have released him. So I don't know that I'd be screaming for him to replace Edmunds completely. Bringing him in, okay. But is he an every down player we can trust for years to come at this point?
  2. And what of Gabe Davis? Are you comfortable keeping him as the 3rd highest in reps and surely receptions? You'll lose him when his rookie deal is up for someone who can give him more playing time and a team that will pay him, which we won't be able to do after paying Diggs and Metcalf.
  3. You know we're a million over the cap right now right? Better question, you know that the salary cap exists right?
  4. We woke up this morning 6 million over the cap. Releasing Klein puts us at just under a million over. Gonna need to do a lot of extensions, releases, restructures, and pay cuts before we can do anything. And like everyone else has pointed out, FA hasn't opened yet. There's been one big trade that has happened in the entire league. I mean, this is a joke post, right?
  5. This was one of the many no-brainer moves we could make to free up cap space. Others being extending Diggs, extending Edmunds, releasing or re-working deals on Beasley, Feliciano, Morse, D. Williams, and Butler. This is not a huge loss. You can easily replace what Klein brought us with a draft pick or a cheaper option. I wholeheartedly disagree. I think the players that we'll have going out aren't going to make us substantially worse off than we were last year. On the contrary, with good drafting and smart moves in the FA and Trade market - I can easily see us being better off.
  6. A more realistic scenario would be Tyler Lockett, who appears to be on the market. Just 3 Mil on the cap this season and nothing guaranteed beyond that (9.7 next year if they keep him). Seems like the kind of cap friendly, decent player move Beane would be interested in.
  7. On paper, it sounds great. But he's the ultimate diva. You'd be putting a lot of pressure on Allen to make sure both he and Diggs are happy with the amount of balls they get. You'll have to do that, pay them both, and most likely lose Gabe Davis in a couple years when he also wants to get paid and/or want a place where he'll get more balls.
  8. You get comp picks for losing players and not replacing them. When you're able to do that wherein it doesn't hurt you because you're loaded at the particular position or positions you're losing players in, fine. But I don't believe short suiting yourself going into the year for mid-late round picks a year later is a smart practice. And I don't think Beane does either.
  9. There are a number of ways they could free up space. Extend Diggs, paying him this year almost exclusively in bonuses. An Edmunds extension could lower his cap figure for this season as well. Release, pay cut, or restructure Cole Beasley, Jon Feliciano, Mitch Morse, Daryl Williams, Vernon Butler, and/or AJ Klein. Plus, with the cap rising today more money has been added.
  10. I disagree with Thad Brown's assumption that it has to be a recently released player. I've actually been going back and forth with him on Twitter about it and he's said nothing that makes me feel it's gospel and anything more than him pontificating. As I stated in a previous post, the Combine is and always has been the place where agents meet with teams behind closed doors. While it's "technically" not legal - it happens every year and everyone knows it happens. Tampering is seldom if ever filed at the Combine because a.) It's so close to FA anyways and b.) Literally every team talks to agents there. There isn't an available player that remotely comes close to a "big name free agent" or even Thad's watered down description. And also - if it were a free and clear FA, there would be no reason to be vague about it. Breer would just give the players name.
  11. First, he's not making more than Franchise money. Not coming off last year. Spotrac (which is, no pun intended, generally spot on) lists his market at 16 mil a year. Second, if he wants to come here that badly to reach out to us, he'll have to be willing to take a team friendly deal, which would come under that number. And lastly, we will be losing Emmanuel Sanders, Cole Beasley, and Isaiah McKenzie (also Jake Kumerow, if you need him). That's more than HALF of our core. Signing Robinson would take up one of the 4 spots. We would still draft a speed WR, probably in the mid rounds as it's a deep WR class. And Gabe Davis would still be getting a lot of work, as again, Robinson is just one WR in with 4 out the door. As for the money, that's where the quote from Joe Schoen comes in that we're doing work to have serious money and the report that ownership wants to make a big splash come in to play.
  12. Had heard Allen Robinson was at the Combine with his agent. To me, he makes a lot of sense for this. He's spent his whole career with subpar QB play. Could easily see him saying "get in touch with the Bills so I can play with Josh and have Diggs taking a lot of the heat off me".
  13. There isn't one of those that fit the bill. I think he's operating by what's "by the books". Which is stupid. Everyone knows that while it's technically not the "legal" tampering period, The Combine has always been the place where agents of FA's talk with teams and there's never any "tampering" claims filed over it because EVERYONE does it there.
  14. Positive they approached him about that and that's what led to him seeking permission for a trade.
  15. It's about the cap. We have little to no money, he would save a bunch by not being here, we have a lot of work to be done at other positions, he's no better than our 3rd option at WR on a team with a real good TE, and there's a lot of speedy WR's in the draft.
  16. Well, the way I saw it - there was two options with Cole Beasley. 1.) He stays with a reduced cap figure through a pay cut or some kind of conversion to bonus (if possible) 2.) He's released I'd imagine they approached him about option 1 and that led to him asking for a trade. Under no circumstance were we going to keep him at that number with Diggs and Davis on our roster, our cap situation, and what we need to get done at other positions. Knowing this, I'd doubt a team will trade for him when they know he'll most likely be available for nothing. Long story short, Cole Beasley will not be a Bill next year.
  17. Day 3? If we don't sign someone in FA, I don't see us taking someone later than the 2nd round - very likely with our 1st Rounder.
  18. It'd be easier to get almost anyone else at the position. You're talking a guy who's one of the top players at his position, has room to grow, hasn't got much tread on the tires at 22 years old, and still has two years on his Rookie deal (plus the 1 year option). He's not being moved unless it's part of a deal for a Superstar Franchise QB like Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson.
  19. It's been speculated by writers who are connecting dots, but there's been nothing beyond speculation. Depends what his thoughts are on Daniel Jones. I think bringing in Mitch when you're performing at the level of Jones right now sends a clear message he's on a short leash and Daboll thinks he needs a big time insurance policy in place. For me it's: Jameis Winston Teddy Bridgewater Marcus Mariota Jacoby Brissett Ryan Fitzpatrick
  20. If a team doesn't sign Mitch to be a bridge gap or there isn't a team that wants him with a shaky QB at 1 - he'll be back. If there is and he's gone - it'll be either Jameis Winston, Jacoby Brissett, Teddy Bridgewater, Andy Dalton, Marcus Mariota, Ryan Fitzpatrick, or Tyrod Taylor. Off chance of Cam Newton if there's history with McBeane and they (for some unknown reason) think he could still be good in a pinch under them.
  21. I'm okay with going Corner with our 1st pick. But it feels like all of our Drafts have been "focus on the defense" drafts. Feels like our Defense needs sure things filling roles at this point in time. I hope that the Defense sees a lot of work in the FA and Trade markets this offseason.
  22. This is exactly why I was so pissed the Bengals beat the Chiefs and were rooting so hard against them in The Super Bowl. Saw this bull#### rhetoric coming a mile away if they won the AFC Title.
