  1. On the 1st three series, Allen had a guy open deep on each series. On the 1st drive he overthrew Brown when he had a step on his guy; On the 2nd drive he overthrew Foster by at least 5 yards when he had 2 steps on his guy; On the 3rd drive he overthrew Knox by at least 5 yards when he had 3 or more steps on his guy. In each of those plays, he had a clean pocket. In each of those plays, there was nothing but green in front of the receiver. The Ravens were daring him to throw deep, maybe because of the wind, maybe because of his deep throw issues or maybe a combination of both. But they were leaving the deep ball out there. He hits on those throws and they are up 21-3 in the 1st quarter. By that time, the Raven's have to change their defense.
  2. Yeah, I know it is. Shrugs. If he's that confident in his market price, he can just take the $31 million for this year and play it out and wait until next year. Then he either gets tagged again at a 20% raise or he goes to the open market. Maybe that's his end game, again, idk.
  3. Noooo, that's 2016 Tyrod. The Bills lost 6, count 'em 6 games in 2016 when scoring 24 points or more. (Sorry, couldn't resist). idk, this is becoming a common argument when contracts come up for QBs who aren't at the Brady/Brees (and now..Mahomes) level. It came up with guys like Dalton, Alex Smith, Kirk Cousins, etc. The question often comes up with "how far can this guy take us?" It did with Alex Smith and Dalton, who had pretty spotty playoff records. How much DO you pay a guy that might get you to the playoffs, but hasn't shown the ability to get you very far once you are there. I don't know if there is an easy answer, unless you have Brady/Brees (and now..Mahomes). As far as paying him or him getting paid, let's not pretend that he's being offered 3 or 4 million a year. I mean...the Boys are offering $35 million a year for 5 years. Currently, it is more than any other QB in the league... and well more than guys who have a ring and guys who have been to the dance. Are the Boys being unreasonable for offering that amount for a guy that's won 1 playoff game in 4 years? Its tough to say they are, at least for me. But I tend not to worry about what the Boys are doing. Im more worried about whether the BIlls' O can get out of the bottom third O's in the league. There's only so much you can worry about in life.
  4. I like Diggs, I like the trade. But Allen wasn't missing on his deep throws because Diggs wasn't running the route. He was just plain overthrowing people. And if John Brown couldn't run under the throw, Diggs wouldn't either. Diggs can do much more than run deep patters( as can John Brown), but the deep ball is still a big part of his game. He was the premier deep threat in the NFL last year, he had something like 10 catches of over 40 yards. I went back a month ago to see how many were actually short catches that he took the house. Most were catches where the ball was thrown at least 30 yards from the LOS. The yardage from those catches was between 400 and 500 yards, I think and 4 of his 6 Tds. Take away those long receptions and he has about 700-800 yards and 2 tds. Nice numbers but nothing to get giddy about. By contrast, if Allen hit on some of the deep balls he threw to Brown last year, his yardage numbers increase by 200 yards minimum, putting him at around 1200 for the year and a few more Tds. Stating the obvious, Allen needs to fix that part of his game, or the talents of 2 WRs will be wasted. I don't want Diggs stuck to running 10 yard comebacks.
  5. I DO have one of those plastic owls with the head spins around in the wind. Damn squirrels kept getting into the cushions of my wife's swing. Whether it works or not, idk..but it hasn't happened again in the 3 years he's been out there. So the scarecrow effect might work. Of course, sometimes when I'm back there, I'll hear a voice that says: -That's a very nice way to go; -And that way is a pleasant way too; -But then, some people do go both ways.
  6. Our back yard is long and narrow, about 120 feet by 60 feet. We have several 60-70 year old trees in the back. When combined with the mature trees from the neighbors, they make a pretty impressive canopy. We don't need bird feeders or houses, because the birds are everywhere. Looking up in the trees, the canopy is filled with them, especially in early spring before the leaves have sprouted. And the noise is...loud. Its a bit like a backyard aviary. Robins, blue jays, meadowlarks, mourning doves, crows, swallows, cardinals, woodpeckers ( the bastards ruined our roof last year, I think), an occasional hawk and a number of other species I probably couldn't identify. My son swears he's seen an owl at night perched outside his bedroom window. 2 years ago, I actually saw a pair of turkey vultures munching on a squirrel carcass in the street 3 blocks away. You don't normally see them in town. My wife's Sat/Sun morning thing was to take a cup of coffee, a book and sit on her swing in the back. When she came back in the house, invariably she'd say, "its just so peaceful back there." On the other hand, all of those mature trees have shed wayyy too many limbs last year. I have a stick and twig pile that's looking like a beaver lodge and a pile of cut limbs that now measures around 3 feet high, 5 feet wide and 16 to 20 inches deep. That's just from this past year. Well...wood for the fire pit, I guess.
  7. and in the "Is this even a question?" category... Who Did It Better? - Little Richard vs. Pat Boone
  8. One of the cooler videos I've seen... I mean, just the piano players were Little Richard, The Killer, Fats Domino and Ray Charles. Not to mention people like BB King, Bo Diddley, James Brown, et al. For the younger generation, its like a 50s-60s version of X-Men Infinity Wars, Rock and Roll edition.
  9. Yeah, the first time I saw bread off the shelves, I went to the baking aisle and bought a jar of yeast and a 5lb. bag of whole wheat flour. Then I dusted off the bread machine that hadn't been used for years. Probably a good thing because they were cleared out of both 2 days later. I have a sourdough starter that I bought on ebay that's supposed to be about 150 years old, but I really don't know what difference it makes. But it works well. A fresh baked loaf of sourdough bread is a good thing.
  10. At least draft a guy like Alex Taylor from South Carolina St. and lt him work into an NFL OT. 3 OL drafted in 4 years...that's incredible.
  11. knee problem most likely. The doctors at the Senior Bowl pulled him out of practices. He didn't like the decision, but it is what it is.
  12. Let me know what I missed. "Let me know when you come up with something factual." Well, I tried.
  13. Then what exactly DID you say? You're the one prattling on about Revis and how CB is one of the few "money positions" on the field. I love the classic, "oh *****, someone presented facts to refute my theory, so I better get snide with him," routine. Let me know when you come up with something factual.
  14. Yeah well, ..there's Revis..and um...Deion Sanders and...um...maybe Patrick Peterson, but then...how good have the Cards been since he's been drafted? (3 winning season out of 8). I don't know if you make it a rule that a DB is the cornerstone of your franchise when the two examples are from 20 and 30 years ago and are HOF'ers. Cleveland has done it a number of times...Joe Haden, Denzell Ward, Justin Gilbert and people are still waiting for them to turn it around. And hell, both Haden and Ward are good. But neither transformed the Browns. The Jets spent a better part of the Rex Ryan era using their top pick on a DB, and that was when they had Revis. After initial success, they've been a bad, bad franchise. And of course..there's the droughty Bills. Not to mention that there is a pretty high bust factor. Dee Millner Justin Gilbert Mo Claiborne Eli Apple is going to be on his 3rd team since 2016, provided someone picks him up. Those are guys taken in the top 10 in just the past 8 years. I think there were only 8 taken in the top 10 during that time. Its about a 50% bust ratio. Its an important position..but wayyyyy overrated as the place to build a franchise
  15. Since the GM's are showing their home warrooms... a quick peek at Bill O'brien's
  16. Yeah, the barn doors are good. Blocking them with tables and monitors is better. Gives the room a Skynet time machine feel. No one goes back, no one follows. (until the next sequel).
  17. Roger Goodell's inability to hug 300 lb linemen will be emotionally crushing to him.
  18. no, its not a schtick at all and it downplays the importance that the deep game is to Diggs' overall success. He might have been the premier deep threat in the game last year. He led the league in 40+ yard receptions and from what I've seen, they weren't 10-15 yard throws that he took to the house. How important was his deep game? By my count, it accounted for over 500 receiving yards and 4 of his 5 TD's. (not including a bomb he caught in the SF playoff game). Take away his deep catches last year and you have a pretty pedestrian 600+ yards. Watching his highlight reel, tbh...Allen of 2019 misses on most of those throws. Why? Because he was missing on these throws most of the year. If Brown isn't able to run under them, Diggs won't either. To me, the best offseason move I've seen is that Allen is spending time with his QB guru and is specifically working on that part of his game. Unless he improves his deep game, you are wasting the talents of 2 talented WRs.
  19. I didn't see him mentioned, but: Reggie Robinson II CB -Tulsa. 6'1" 205 lbs Next Gen stats gave him the highest "draft grade" for any CB at the Combine, based on college experience, production and athleticism (using Combine numbers). 4.44 40 shuttle and 3 cone were near 4 flat and 7 flat respectively. Also had a 36" vertical and an amazing 22 bench reps. Had 4 ints and 13 PBS last year and was 1st team All America Conference. 34 PBs over his career. Not bad considering he only had a half of a junior year. Everything I've seen has him going mid to late rounds. http://fullsports.info/next-gen-stats-reggie-robinson-ii-leads-all-cornerbacks-with-89-overall-draft-score/ https://www.nfl.com/prospects/reggie-robinson ii?id=3219524f-4273-6176-83a6-25be1b8cd671
  20. pfft...just do what Phoebe's mom did on Friends.
  21. -the back yard was a mess. We have 5-6 mature trees in the back and it was a bad year for broken limbs. Big ones came down, 4-6 inch in diameter and 15-20 feet long. With the help of a cheap electric chainsaw I bought from Harbor Freight, I've accumulated a hell of a wood and stick pile. -prepping the kitchen for a much needed paint job. After that, its time for new flooring. -we have a huge patched hole over the dining room table when the roof leaked late last summer. Since I suck at taping and mudding drywall, I'm looking at alternatives for a new ceiling.
  22. I know what he means in regard to no. 3. He got to be "cautious" in the deep throws because he looked deathly afraid of underthrowing the ball and risking an INT. Thus, most of his deep balls were line drives 5 yards beyond the WR. It was almost as if he was throwing it away. That's not good though, esp. in a game like the Raven's game..where they were daring him to throw deep. I'll take the optimistic approach and think he's working on it in the offseason and should improve as he has in other areas. With enough work, there is no reason he shouldn't improve. Sometimes there are only so many things you can work on in a season (or two). But if he doesn't...he's going to hear it from Diggs, along with all of Diggs' Twitter followers.
  23. I think it was some of both. After finding himself as the lowest paid OL on the team again, Peters went in to Russ' office to ask for a raise (without an agent). Russ told Peters that he wasn't a priority, Lee Evans was the priority. Those were Russ' words. They went months without hearing from Peters. Around training camp time, Russ remarked that he hadn't talked to Peters since that conversation. I've always read that Peters was a bit of a nonconformist and had a different way of looking at things. There's no doubt in my mind that the way Russ phrased things, it ticked him off royally. Its probably why, when Russ DID offer Peters the highest contract for an OL in Bills' history, Peters let Russ know he could have sex with himself. He DID go in seeking more money, but the way Russ talked to him made him not ant to be in Buffalo any longer.
  24. Binging With Babish is a bit unique because he re-creates recipes for food shown in movies and TV. The prison sauce from Goodfellas; Big Kahuna Burgers from Pulp Fiction; Chocolate Babka from Seinfeld; Timpano from Big Night (a must see movie for anyone who likes cooking, or at least food). https://www.bingingwithbabish.com/recipes/2017/2/20/il-timpano-inspired-by-big-night
  25. Did Wawrow really need to add "and I quote", the team "needs to score more points"? That's a bit of an obvious open secret, don't cha think?
