Andujar is the worst fielding 3B in the league in his rookie year. Thats very true. Its also very true that the player Andujar is most compared to, Adrian Beltre, was the worst fielding 3B his rookie year as well. He went on to win 5 gold gloves and will likely be a HoFer within 3 years of his eligibility. Not sayin Andjuar is Beltre but players can improve. Sanchez had a bad year. No doubt. 2016-2017 were great years for him. I won't crucify a young C for a bad year, especially if he bounces back. Severino has a shoulder problem I think. 2017 and 1/2 of 2018 were terrific. I do not know if Sevy bounces back without surgery, but I would not call him a bust. "Homegrown" talent, in my view, doesnt just mean drafted talent. It can also mean young and unproven talent acquired from other organizations via trade. That would include Hicks, Didi, Gleybar Torres, Voit and Clint Frazier. All will be contributors this year and for many years beyond. I do believe Bird will become a good player, but he may need to get out of NY for it to happen. Which is a shame because I thought Bird could have been the best of the bunch. Judge is simply Judge and a beast.

Its not really that the degree is any different from a place like Harvard rather than Canisius or UB; but its much more the alumni network that you can tap into for the rest of your life that matters most. Of course, it really helps certain industries (like Wall Street, management consulting etc.) more than others. For example: Need a 1st job...hit up the alumni network. Starting a business and need investors....alums. Your kid needs something you cannot provide...an alum can help. The top schools all have active alumni networks with massive coordination and people dedicated to connecting alums. The very top schools even have private clubs with restaurants, bars, workout facilities, meeting rooms etc. in NYC (Yale club, Penn club, Harvard club etc.). So, IMHO...yeah it can help a kid out a lot. I don't blame any of the parents here trying to get their kids plugged into that network.

Most Heartbreaking Losses of Players
bills_fan replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Thurman Munson for obvious reasons The day Briere & Drury went unsigned and left the Sabres - the teams tailspin still hasnt stopped from that day Pat Williams - heart & soul guy, loved Buffalo but the evil Tom Donohoe wouldn't give him the money. Phat Pat played quite well for Minnesota for a number of years afterwards -
I read icy road conditions and yes, no alcohol at all in Boeheim. Boeheim was shaken up but cooperating. Very sad all around. I always liked Jim Boeheim and he is Syracuse. So far, I am glad there are no other extenuating circumstances here...seems like a bad decision by the guy who died and just an accident with Boeheim.

Bills played a night game at NYJ 2 years ago. I hope the NFL doesnt do that again. Make it the Cleveland game

Do you have to deal with dirtbags?
bills_fan replied to RochesterRob's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My inlaws ( I call them the outlaws) suck. So I have disassociated myself from dealing with them. At this point, I only see them 4 days a year (Xmas, my kids bdays and once in the summer). I can be civil in conversation for 4 days. -
Thats awesome. LMK if they ever want to sell that game.

What’s your most Controversial opinion?
bills_fan replied to Juror#8's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I can well appreciate your view. The "regulate" portion of that is so that an individual can be confident on what he/she is actually purchasing and won't kill them on the spot. Someone has to pay for that level of quality control. Hence the "tax" part of my position. -

Legalize, tax and regulate all drugs. Pardon anyone currently incarcerated for non-violent drug offenses. -
Bills hire Heath Farwell as ST coordinator
bills_fan replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saw that this morning....31st. God awful. No excuse for having 31st ranked ST. The Jest are 1 by a wide margin. They always seem to have good ST. We should take some pointers from them. -
Favorite participation sport... what's yours?
bills_fan replied to bdutton's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Downhill skiing. I still race in an over 40 alpine race league which is fun. My knees cant take the pounding of moguls any more, but beyond that I can still ski anything I used to ski in my 20s. Beer league softball after work comes in a close second. Thats always a good time. -

Can he bring RG Glowinski with him? Cause then this is a steal. -

Sounds like he will be a good hire. I like that he's young, up and coming and open to new ideas. -
TV Shows You Want Rebooted
bills_fan replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Ummm...none. I loved the original Magnum PI. Wont dare watch a remake. Let the networks come up with an original idea and I'll watch. netflix seems to be doing it quite well. Let the classics stay as classics. -
I would just add that Daboll is a Buffalo guy (went to St. Francis HS). I don't know his personal situation with kids etc., but he may like being in Buffalo and living/coaching in Buffalo. He may not leave for the first thing that opens up. If a HC opportunity was a true plum job...sure. But I could see him being picky and wanting to win a SB with his hometown team as well.

Can we hire the Jest ST coach? They always seem to have good ST.

1) Guns N Roses/Metallica/Faith No More Stadium Tour - Rich Stadium July 25, 1992. Faith No More opened and was awesome, then Metallica came out and rocked the whole house for like 2 hours. Axl was at his bitchy best and delayed GnR coming onstage for like 2 hours. The camerman proceeded to focus on every good looking girl and put them up on the jumbotron where 80,000 people chanted "show your t*ts!" About 90% of them did. Then GnR came out and performed a terrific set. Here;s the wiki about that tour with setlists from the Rich Stadium show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guns_N'_Roses/Metallica_Stadium_Tour 2) Zac Brown Band - Citi Field July 28, 2018. It was 100 degrees, on a summer Saturday and people were hammered from over imbibing all day long, suffering heatstroke and extremely belligerent in the GA area. Unlike the Zac Brown show there in 2016, they had no pit area so it was a general free-for-all. Zac Brown stopped his set 4xs bc of fights breaking out. Not fun at all. 3) Burning Man - Someday it will happen. 4) The Doors, Live in New York - January 17 and 18, 1970 - Felt Forum NYC. Fortunately there is a box set of this, but I wasnt alive at the time and Jim obviously didnt live much longer. But for the guys who were there it was absolutely amazing they say.

All-22 Analysis: Guard Wyatt Teller
bills_fan replied to steven50's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love this kid. Hoping he can be a real mauler on our line for years to come. Excited to watch this kid develop. EDIT: and the 5th round has been OK to us...Kyle Williams, Matt Milano....lets not sleep on this kid because of the round in which he was picked. -
My condolences Jim. May he RIP. Its terrific you had as much time as you did and that he was able to enjoy skiing until he was 89. Gives me hope that I enjoy it that long. Per your request... Year was 1996 and I had just turned 21. I went with my Dad when I was on home for break to a place I had never been...the old Boston Hotel in Boston, NY. On this particular night it was 99 cents a dozen for clams, oysters and other nibbles but we were there for the clams and oysters. We started with two dozen each of raw clams, raw oysters and steamed clams and ice cold pitcher of Labatts Blue. It was the first time I was drinking in a pub with my Dad. We were scarfing down plenty of clams and oysters and enjoying ice cold beer. This was great! We ended up polishing off 16 dozen total and washing it down with a couple pitchers. Was a terrific memory for me because it felt like we crossed a line...a very good line together.
