I've had it with this "Blame" crap
bills_fan replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are no leaders there. From the first moment that gov went on Larry King I said to my wife in all honesty, they're in trouble...listen to her. As someone who lived through 9/11 from almost as close a place as you could (across the street), the leadership showed by Rudy Giuliani pulled NYC through it. New Orleans needed a Rudy Giuliani and noone stepped up. -
I'm not a big Bettman fan either, but from the perspective of a Sabres fan, he hasn't been that bad. He unequivocally stated that the team would stay in Buffalo after the Rigas bankruptcy and only sought bids from local buyers. Then he forces an economic system onto the NHL that makes it possible for Buffalo to compete at the same level as Detroit and New York. When you really think about it, going forward, without Bettman, hockey in Buffalo may have ceased to exist. Look at what baseball did to the Expos.

OT -- Sabres Have Best Shot At Crosby
bills_fan replied to kclor's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Payback from the hockey Gods for No Goal....lose one Cup on a cheap shot, get Crosby to pair with Vanek, Roy, Drury etc. and win 3 Cups in the next 7 years???? I'll take it!! -
I would have a problem with him ending up on the friggin Rangers. Hello conspiracy!!

Good topic. Growing up, I worked as a waiter/bartender/cook my whole life. It paid for school. Thus, I can comment on this. I always tip waiter/waitresses/bartenders 20-25%. Its generally very appreciated, but then again, having been in the business, ex-restaurant folks are known as the best tippers. I find that if you go back to a place often, and tip well, the service is so much better. At a bar, your drink order is taken with no wait, you get a few free rounds a nite and in, restaurants, the waiter will make sure your food sdoesn't sit under a heat lamp, or you get the best cuts of prime rib or steak. As for declaring tips, its easy. Declare 10% of your total food & beverage sales for the nite. The micros machine (oor whatever system your place uses) will tell you that number at the end of the nite. For example, if you sell 700 bucks worth of food and drink, make sure your tips declared reads about 70 bucks. All credit card tips must be declared. If your credit card tips are 9-11% of total sales, you're fine, declare no cash tips. If not, make up the difference. With respect to curbside, I've never tried that. I don't think we have that in NY. I'm sure I'd tip, however. I tip cabbies, hotel maids, the barber etc. I just find that it puts a smile on someone's face, and your much more apt to get better service. The only tipping that annoys me, is the guy who hands out towels in the mens room of bars. Now, I'll generally tip him a buck the first couple times using the restroom if I'm in a bar for the whole nite. But after that, c'mon. Its like I'm paying to take a piss, which happens often when you are drinking Labatts all day for a Bills game at McFaddens, and I feel bad if I don't tip.

Yeah, it should have pressed. Like for your b-day or CHristmas. Give her an excuse. But before you ask for it, do a few special thing to make one or two of her fantasies come true. Then hit her with it a month or two before your b-day. Gotta strategize when you're thinking jackpot. Also, the "friend" who nailed her, not a "friend" if he knew that you guys had just broke up and were still upset about her. I wouldn't say anything, but the "friend" would not be invited over anytime soon.

In the early to mid 90s (before Private Parts) Howard was funny. I used to listen to him every day. He was crass, yes, but also funny. The show wasn't all about the lowest common denominator. Recently, the show has simply been unlistenable. The routine that used to be sharp and funny, has grown old and stale. I tried to listen and just shut it off. Same with the E! show. Not even worth watching or listening. Only on occasion, since his movie was released, has he had a sharp funny show. I basically stopped listening in the last 4+ years, only on occasion, and then only for a short time.

I know what you mean, j/k.

I bought one. So did 4 of my friends. So all 5 of us go to away games wearing OJ jerseys. Its fun to watch the reactions of people. Some people gasp and point (Miami), some scream out "Murderer", to which we respond, "You're right OJ used to murder the defense" (NE), some laugh and think it funny (Balt, NY Jets) and some cross the road and won't even look at us (Tenn). Its worth it if you like people watching and seeing the reactions.

I do. A tailgating pic from when we played the Giants in 03. -
Nice catch. Its a great jersey, but somethin tells me its not for sale at all, or is a home-made jersey.
-
Where did you find that? I don't think we'll get that, but it would be very cool b/c it incorporates the charging Buffalo with the cool old jersey. That jersey should become our mainstay road jersey. That would be awesome.
-
Yes, I do. It will depend on the fan and player reaction. The players seem to love em, the fans do as well. If the throwback jersey sales totally blow away the other jersey, I think that the Bills will consider it!!
-
I would have liked to return to the standing buffalo on the helmet, with the charging one as maybe a sleeve logo. That would have been pretty cool. Well, I guess we'll see what happens, but it would not suprise me at all if we used the throwback as the basis for a permanent uni change, consigning the current version to the scrap heap of historical failures along with New Coke, The Pontiac Aztec and the Houston Astros clown jerseys from the early to mid 1980s.
-
Its just my opinion, obviously shared by enough people, that the redesign was a flop. The unis are not good, hence the reason why the topic keeps coming up. Some like them, well OK. An opinion. We probably will change from these at some point. Hence the reason why the immediate change (as soon as league rules allowed) to throwback unis. The Jest and Gints did throwbacks and their fans loved them so much they made the unis permanent. I could see that happening with us as well.
-
Easy, its just an opinion. I do. You'll see I only wear the old jersey if you click on my "name". I just wanted to get a Willis jersey (Big Cane fan) and won't buy the new ones.
-
You know, thats not a bad idea. If they made several, it would work. The only thing is, a place would probably do one for an individual no problem, but if they were making 30-40, they'd have licensing issues, which they'd still have with one, but less likely to get caught. The trick is finding one that would take the risk. But if you are looking, this one is pretty cool...simple, but cool... http://www.neoncentral.com/inventory.jsp?number=G6100NC

Question for "out of town" fans.....
bills_fan replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From NYC, I get to 3-4 homes a year and 2-3 roadies. This year its the opener (always), Mia, Denver and maybe one more. Roadies include the Jest, Patsies and maybe New Orleans. -
Amen to that. Although, you could probably take it to a neon company and they'd make it for you. It would cost you big bucks tho. I just got the Bills-Labatts Blue neon I've been looking for for years for my home bar. It s in a place of honor right behind the bar. Its terrific.

Just look at the current ones. Awful. Must have been the same guy who designed the City Court building in downtown Buffalo.....lets see a windowless box sounds cool right????
