Since we're talking about this game (and I'd would definately stay away), the play on it is to tease Philly with the over. The o/u is 39, and Philly is a 3 point fav. Tease the o/u to 33 and take the over with Philly +3 or even Dallas +9 (tho road games can get away). If you really want to make a play, tease Browns/Steelers in Pitt. The line is Pitt -7.5, and the o/u is 34.5. I'd tease Pitt down to -1.5 and tease the o/u down to 28.5 and take the over.

AKC, thanks for a terrific post. So, in your opinion, do you believe that Mike Gandy could be a viable LT beyond this season? Also, great breakdown on Peters and Teague. I myself thought he'd be LT material. Apparently, I may be wrong. Perhaps Teague really does get an unfair rap on this board and from fans in general. Anyway, I hope Everett turns out to be a good blocker and that he can replace Neufield. Again, thanks for the great work.

I'm willing to say that Weis would be a HUGE success wherever he coached. You see it now with ND, and with NE coming back to the pack. Crennel, too soon, I agree. But I didn't think Cleveland would win 2 games this year and he's got that team fired up and playing well enough, given their dearth of talent.

The article stunk and was full of cheap shots. Anyone else coming up with the fact that the problem is not 1st time head coaches, but that TD chose the wrong one? He interviews John Fox, Marvin Lewis, Gregg Williams, Charlie Weis, Mike Mularkey, and Romeo Crennel. We end up with Greggo (bust) and Mularkey (too soon to tell). Every other guy TD interviewed is a damn fine head coach. The list is right, its just the final choice that was either wrong, or not sure yet.

A 5 man line. Nice. We used that in HS. Not sure if you have the personnel for it now, however. I would have loved to see it with Phat Pat in the middle, Adams and Edwards as the DTs, Fletcher & Spikes as the 2 backers. That would have been pretty sweet. The problem is guarding against the short-medium range passes, you have one less defender in space.

I really didn't think Joe Pendry was that bad. At least he ran the ball.

Alright, putting on my rose colored glasses for a moment.... We'd have to beat KC at home. We could lose to SD on the road. We'd have to knock off Carolina at home. We'd have to win in Miami and then knock off the Pats at the Ralph, both possible. We'd have to either beat Denver at home or win on the road in Cinci, we could lose one of those games. Then we knock off the Jest in the New Years Day game. It IS possible, tho unlikely. The big one, as stated before, is KC at home. We win that one, and we may have a shot.

You know, I was thinking about our potential line next year, and it could be much improved. Think about it, if MW restructures and Peters can play LT, we'd have a huge and athletic left side. Preston, hopefully, can man the C spot. The right side would be Villy (who is a very good G when healthy, and nasty) and possibly a FA RT. They cost less than LTs, and it would free up our 1st round pick for DT, and later picks for LB and S. Our D would get younger and our line would be solid. maybe it would look like this.... LT Peters LG MW C Preston RG Villarial RT FA - Perhaps Jon Runyan who is a FA at the end of the year? He's a nasty blocker, paired with Villy would be awesome. I can dream right???

You forget how good that team was. That team was 11-5 and had won 5 road games that year. That Bills team could out-muscle just about anyone. The only team that could get as physical as we could was Tennessee. We had just smoked Indy 31-6 a week earlier & even Polian admitted the Bills were a bad matchup for his team. Yes, Indy beat us in the 1st game of the season at the dome , but so what. Also, Jax was on their way down, Tenn just beat them up. That 99 wild card game still is the most physical football game I had ever seen.

Ummmm...there was Mark Wahle and Marco Rivera, both from GB, who are both playing very well for Carolina and Dallas, respectively. Wahle plays LT and Rivera LG. Either would have looked real good in a Bills uni.

Actually, even Polian said the winner of the Bills-Titans game would probably have been the AFC Super Bowl representative that season. I base my opinion on what Polian said.

Thats definately an issue. But I think PW would still be productive in 3-4 years in limited circumstances. In 3-4 years would he be worth the $$$, maybe, maybe not. But this year he sure would have been. As another example, take the Red Sox. If they had paid Pedro this offseason, they may have repeated. In 1-2 years, Pedro will be useless, unless he closes. But sometimes you have to see the here and now, versus always planning for a future that may never come. Take you shot. We needed an uber-defense this year for JP to succeed (See Bears, Chicago). We don't have that. Also, as a side note, we went for it in 1999, and I respect John Butler so much for that. If that play in Tennessee is called properly, its Bills-Rams in the Bowl and there's not too many of us on this board that wouldn't suffer through a couple 3-13's for just one title.

TD gets a pass from me on that one as well, and I am one of his biggest critics. We needed OL, the choice was McKinnie or MW. I advocated for McKinnie, but was thrilled we picked MW.
